WCC, so glad the horses are safe & home.
FT, glad you found your dog & sorry about the roo & the showgirl with wry neck. Hope she improves for you.

Hey DrH, you like that tractor or something?
wink.png

Angie, how do they test for celiac? Sorry to poke fun about your DDs mishap.
hide.gif
I'm just glad she is ok.
Hope Deb & TO had a good visit. I would have enjoyed tagging along.

Glad your quail chick has improved, TO. And that place for sale sounds awesome. Hmmm, I wonder if DH would mind a little longer commute? What are picket doors, though? Just tell your DH to buy some seat belts in bulk. Ssshhhhh!
hide.gif

Mmmmm, Bigz. Dinner sounds delish as usual.

KNAndrs!
Since FT brought up snakes, DH found a snake in the barn yesterday. A little brown one. Very little.
Mom & I ran to the store today. Talk about sticker shock! The prices were up the last time we were there, and they were up even more today. Dirty rats..... Anyway, had to pick up some things for my niece's birthday. Then, as I was perusing the pasta section, guess what I found hiding on the bottom shelf? GF noodles!
barnie.gif
I could have made my salad so TO could have eaten it too. Oh, I was so mad. I never even thought to look for them before the bash. Yeah, I know. I'll

myself for you. Not nearly as rewarding though, is it? Have you tried GF noodles, TO? These are made with rice & corn. I might have to try some to see how they taste. Here is the link to them if anyone is interested.

The weather was weird down here too. All day it looked like it would start raining at any time. Cold as all heck this morning too, but really warm this aft. I hope the weather is decent tomorrow.
Sweet dreams, all! And where are you, Jim?

Yea, it's an ongoing thing.... he's afraid I'll end up on "Hoarders". If he had his way 3/4 of my stuff would be gone!
roll.png
Same with his dad... but his dad has a thing w/ clothes! I swear the man could clothe 3 large villages in Africa! And still have a years worth left for himself!

BTW.... WELCOME! Justbugged! I'm probably the closest to Racine on here. Who dose he work for? How many chickens, kids and other critters do you have?

I am sorry it took me a bit to get back. I have been running hard for the past three days. I don't do running around that well, so it really wears me out. DH works for Putzmeister AM Inc. He is teaching training schools this month.

I'm not sure exactly how many chickens I have. I think there are about 18. I am located in a suburban subdivision, so I am pushing more than a few limits. I have great neighbors though, and I am not the only on with hens in the neighborhood. I just fairly sure that I have more than any of the other neighbors.
hide.gif
We also have 12.8 year old Komondor, 5 Yorkies, 5 cats, 12 finches, and a 75 gallon fish tank that has more bodies in it than it should.

DH and I are Washington State natives, in fact we still live in the county where we were born. DH has been working for Putzmeister for the past 15.5 years. He travels a lot, but normally he is home on weekends. He was almost upset with this last trip. Someone sent him the link to a big fire at a strip mall. DH watched his laundry mat burn down. He hasn't told me if he's found a new one to go to yet.

If your son deleted that computer cache, then that would be why you would have been logged out. I just cleared my cache yesterday, and I have been trying to remember all sorts of passwords. At least I know what I did to myself.

OK, I'm kinda here... feel a little better but back hurts.... I'll live

I checked Jim's last post... it was on the 22nd! Dose anyone have a way to get hold of him? I'm sure I'm not the only one concerned.

tiki...
Wow that was wierd. I just lost a post. Hmmm

Welcome to the club! I think it's happened to almost all of us!

TO.... glad you dogs are safe! One reason we have the back fenced...Poor ol' Duke gets lost even there!

As for people not handling food well... I blame a good deal on processed food and even a bit on too much variety. Most animals have a much more simple diet. Even people in countries with less variety have less issues with food. I think our systems just can't handle it all. But, we crave variety! Also I think grains are "over rated" and over consumed. People were not designed to eat unprocessed grains. (Even cooking is processed) We also digest raw meat better than cooked. Fruits and veggies should be the bulk of our diet IMO.

OK.... I will try to sleep! Night.

Good Morning All!
welcome-byc.gif
KNAndrs Cind hit the nail on the head "sometimes too much". Having house chickens puts you on the right thread!
lau.gif
Cind your absolutely right about the proccesed food. Bad stuff! Hope you get the plumbing issue solved today and your feeling better. jb your an outlaw, we love that! Your welcome all the time, doesn't matter where you live as long as you love your chickens! Now you all have ME worried about Jim how about it FT or Bigz? Silly chicken people want to know? CC don't think it's just the new toy syndrome, think I have found the tractor of my dreams!
love.gif
gig.gif
Haven't had any serious bites on the Case yet. Still don't think I'm out of line asking $1,500 for it. Where else are you gonna find a great snow plow/woods tractor for that? That's too funny about the seatbelt comment!
lau.gif
Angie glad your DD is OK hope it serves to teach her a lesson. TO just remember that it's not always greener.... So is that camera really stuck to Deb's face? Was sitting on the couch yesterday morning trying to decide what to do then the BFF called. He was playing hooky from work so I ended up going over and helped him cut up that doe. He planned on coming over tomorrow to help split the big chunks but now their talking rain/snow. I might be able to get it all done today, we'll see. Can't remember who said something about making wood but we've got more than enough for this year. I'm working on next years supply. So nice to be able to get ahead for a change! Use to be that I was scambling to get enough to us through, sometimes came up short. I hate this part of fall where it's raining would rather have snow, at least I can out in that. I'll continue to make wood untill the snow gets too deep then it's back to remodeling the inside of the house. And ice fishing.
wee.gif
That's the idea of getting ahead on the wood if I get that done then I can do a lot more spring fishin! I have a plan and it's all coming together.

Good morning! Two phone calls later and I finally get to post...now I have forgotten all the comments I was storing in the limited space in my brain! Had a nice chat with Carol about houses....and how much I WANT the one up the road...yes I know, "you cant always get what cha waant, you cant always get what...but if ya try some time, you'll get......." Rolling Stones
love.gif

Not that I agree with that song....as I suspected DH hit the roof when I told him about the house...but Carol was excited...she said if only they could buy mine! Yeah, that would work out just fine....

Then I talked to the friend that lives on the edge of Korth park where we were for the bash...she just found out that her 2YO GD has Celiac! She had suspected Asberger's or autism but the Mom wouldnt hear of it...but now that the baby is bigger....I am so glad they figured it out now! Everything might be cleared up by her going GF. THey needed info in where to go on line....you know I have that! I was so happy to help and I hope the little girl sees relief.

So last night I went out to see the Northern Lights...no dice. Heavy cloud cover just like today! Pretty dreary out there and only 45 so far. We havent seen anything like snow yet....I cant believe it was spotted "Up North" already! So funny what a difference a couple hundred miles makes. I am working toward getting out to the shed today to work on my coop...those birds need LIGHT!
Can someone that has Jim's number please give him a call...this is most unusual to not have his post come up at the same time as mine! I hope all is well with his Mom and Ken ....and him and Annie...yes I am worried too. When he comes back on (if he doesnt have a dam^ good excuse) we will have to tell him how bad it is to leave your pseudo family hanging like this.....didnt we give FM a tongue lashing last time? HMMMM--I guess I dont see that it helped either! DrH--have you heard from her? Couple of folks have been MIA I guess....nature of forums I guess....

Dogs are "fighting" in the living room. I think they like the new arrangement of furniture. More room to play! BCs are so funny when they play...they lay down and grip each other by the necks and roll around on the floor. Silly dogs!
I am moving some quail downstairs today (out of my living room) but there are 6 or so that are still little; and those two chicks are in there too...I think it will be a while before I am birdless in here!
KEN--what kind of finches do you have? I have Zebras...both the regular ones and also English which are 3x the size! THey are really neat. I used to breed all kinds: green singers, cutthroats, red ears, cordon Bleu....so fun! That was before I got chickens....the little black chick is running around the TV with a piece of paper in it's beak and the yellow one is chasing him...too funny!

So did you find your "missing beak" Cind? I hope so! FT--arent guardian dogs supposed to be unchained so they can guard? It seems like they couldnt do a very good job it they cant get the preds!
When I was at F&F the other day they told me that there was going to be new restrictions on rat poison. I guess all poison has to be in a bait station now? How in the world are they going to monitor that? It certainly is a good idea, but people that use it should know that you dont put it where pets or kids can get at it! (Or you use a bait station!) Just another example of an unenforceable law that is supposed to protect us from our own stupidity! Ultimately it will just cost us more $$$ because the stations will be included in every package?GGRRRRR....

OK I guess this has been enough rambling...I was hoping that if I gave Jim enough time he would post....better try and get something done! Have a fantastic day! Terri O

My GP's didn't come from breeders that used them to guard and I did't have chickens or goats when I got them so they don't feel the need to protect them. Actually River killed several chickens a few months ago when she got loose when we weren't home.
GP's are known for barking (which mine do all night long, no problem, we are in the middle of no where), digging, and roaming. They supposedly patrol the area and that area keeps getting bigger and bigger. If we let them loose they find the swamps and come home looking like sheep, black legs up to their chests. Rex will hear a car comming down the gravel road and meet them at the driveway, he will sit in the midle of the road and not move.
I love my dogs to much to let them loose to "get" the predators. We have coyotes, fox, bear and HUNTERS that will shoot any stray dog. Remember I live up here with the Kentucks !!!
Any loose dog will either be a dead dog or have a short lifespan. They neighbors have a yellow lab that chases cars. All of the neighbors know it. It was hit anyway and had a leg dangling. She had her horse vet cast it.

River the female GP decided to take our Chocolate lab for a long walk up the the neighbors one day about a mile away. They called and said they were jumping at the screen door at the kids. (The kids were standing inside looking out at them) Little boy was scared to death !!! Reba the C Lab was just a pup and extra full of energy. Wouldn't hurt a flea. So anyway, that is the reason, for their security and ours.
I would rather have a yote or fox get a chicken then hurt my dogs. For the most part I think their barking keeps some of the night preds away.
There is no way we can fence our 80 acres either for them. They get supervised run time when the chickens are locked up.

My niece has CD and as a little girl (she's now 30) she was always sickly with belly aches. She always looked pale.
She didn't find out until he late 20's that she had it.
I agree, processed food is a big culprit in our declining health. My 89 yr old Aunt keeps telling my how all she had to eat was rice etc. Well, she is still alive at 89 and taking less meds then me.

Morning all!

Doing some housework, sipping some cuppa....

One of my co-workers had a deer try to jump through her windshield. She had left to go home and came right back into our ER moments later. She is ok, had to clean her up from the glass, little cuts and everything. They also x-rayed her hand, thinking maybe it broke or fractured. Shes home now. I am going to call her later tonight, see how shes doing.

Now all the techs are convinced our lab is cursed.

Angie) Glad to hear she is ok.

Man with Jim not posting there sure are a lot less posts to read lol. I hope hes okay.

Not much to report here. Planning out my orchard still. 32 trees is what I can fit in the area DH gave me, and I am going to inclose it with fencing that I can do grapes on. Plant the orchard with clover or something pretty. I don't think my orchard will be that big, as I don't think we'd utilize that much fruit. But, there is always the food pantry, and orchards are so pretty....

Morning All...Welcome to the new cheeseheads.
Only one cat on the trail camera last night. The deer must still be full from the night before.

Had a nice chat on the phone with Jim last night. Yep, he's busy with the trailer and trying to recover from mom's 97 th Birthday Party. Takes longer to recover than it use to, eh Jim.

My friend called with another tarp of wood shavings from the planer....I love free bedding. It's black walnut, and that's fine with me I guess.

The soup was delicious...plenty leftover for more bowls!

I love Abby....bl4 !

Later All, Stay Safe. bigz
