Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Having a tough time concentrating at work today. My favorite lil banty was on the floor laying down this morning. brought her in the house and took a look at her. She seemed fine, alert and was eating. but either her balance is off (weak) or shes hurt her leg? Put her in one of the nest boxes with some food so the big ones wouldnt trample her, and dusted her with Sevin. Anxious to get home tonight and check on her

Chilly Fricken fternoon All. Yep I knew what the law was, however I'd been sitting in jail with you guys. Somethings just aren't right and worth a fight.

Went and picked up 5 bales of straw today for the boys housing. The wind sure is nasty cold today.

Our male cat is nuetered and has blatter problems. He gets a couple doses of methigel daily and also amoxicillin, plus now we added amoxicillin trihydrate. I guess you call his problem cystitis. It's a real pain in the butt caring for him. The meds are quite pricey.

Hope everyones sick critters are feeling better soon. It always is something it seems like.

It's that time of year when the ho-made soup tastes so good. Aldi's had their half hams for $1.19 per lb so we picked one up. I'm gonna take the meat saw and cut about a 2" steak for on the weber and the balance will be cut into soup chunk portions. Bean soup is the next one on the list here.

Annual pot luck at church tomorrow. Suzie is making scalloped potatoes with venzun sausage (everyone loves it) and 2 pumpkin pies. Sounds like jennie is gonna come along too. Always good food there.

Later.... bigz

So he has frequent UTIs? I have 2 neutered males with bladder issues: one is prone to crystals while the other gets UTIs often. After discovering this, I only feed them Purina One Urinary Tract Health formula dry kibble mixed with Wellness Complete Health dry kibble, and only canned cat food with a maximum ash content of 3% or less. The ash is what forms the urinary crystals.

Wellness is specifically formulated with a "Triple cranberry system with three sources of cranberries and a guaranteed magnesium level to help promote healthy urinary tract function". It is really pricey, but I mix it with the Purina to make it go farther. And ever since I've had my cats on it, I haven't had any more problems. I figure it is cheaper, and easier, than dealing with the meds and vet visits/bills.

I hope this helps you.

Evening All!
Don't have much time to stop and chat! Spent the day with my BFF. She is out from Cali with her DH. He is here for his companies annual sales meeting and Christmas Party. I've got to "entertain" her during the day....It's a total hardship! LOL Shopping, Eating at fun places, shopping, blabbing while sipping Mocha's at Starbucks....like I said total hardship! She is in Madison so I went up Mad City today to pick her up and bring her down to Janesville and to shoe her our house! We had so much fun! More to do with her tomorrow!

Thanks for all the kind words about Saxon. He 's moving much better today with the medications on board!

TO=thanks for the info on the dog supplements. I'm going to look into it. Is it a prescription medication?

Man more to say but I'm out of time!

Thanks for the information CC....you're the best! We have been doing some research to try and figure out another angle for him. Prolly gonna do something like you suggested. The UTI's are almost non-stop. Once we figure he is good to go and stop the meds it's back

The diet you suggest is what we have been hearing in our research. Thanks for the links.

Home made bread and buns with the bread roll recipe Jim. The bread turned out perfect again. Toasts up nice for the garlic toast.

I am happy to help, Bigz. Animal health issues are no fun. And this particular issue I know very well. My one cat sounds like yours. As soon as his UTI was gone, it would start up again a short time later.

I am just so glad I finally found a solution that works & is easy to do.

You can usually get the Purina One at Walmart or Menards for a good price and avoid the shipping. Down here it is $21 for a 16lb. bag. Unfortunately, I haven't found Wellness anywhere other than pet stores, and their prices are outrageous. Amazon & Petco seem to be the cheapest (that I have found), and usually have free shipping, plus they put it on sale from time to time, so then I will stock up with a few bags. And it lasts for a long time, and works, so the expense is justified in my opinion.

Good luck with your kitty!

DH forwarded this to me. It kinda sounds like something Jim would say, don't ya think?

I would like to share an experience with all of you. It has to do with drinking and driving.
As you know, some of us have had brushes with the authorities over the years.
October 9th I was out for my birthday dinner with family and friends.
After consuming WAY too much Johnnie Walker and knowing full well that I was hammered,
I did something I've never done before. Believe it or not, I took a bus home.
Yes, a bus. I arrived home safely and without incident. This was really a surprise
to me since.... I have never driven a City bus before...

Annie froze 2 loaves of bread I made at Thanksgiving.. took one out yesterday and polished it off for supper tonight.. That is one thing that Mom likes to eat, ho-made bread and peanut butter.. (me too) bread and peanut butter with pea soup.. a close race to honey bread and pork & beans.
