Good morning! No need to apologize Raiq! Weird posts are as good as "not weird" ones! What classifies as weird anyhow? I hear ya about the alarm thing too! When my DH was your DH's age he always did that too...I never understood it either! He always said it feels so good to go back to sleep....yeah, but then you get woken up BY THE ALARM again! He only hits the snooze once now...there is hope for yours!

Ah--St Nick's morning! I remember that so well! It was more exciting for me than the kids I think...always an orange in the toe of the sock; Christmas coloring books and crayons, HM thank you notes to send to the people they got gifts from...enjoy it while you can Raiq (even if you are tired) it ends really quick....man now who's post is getting weird?
lau.gif
I guess I am nostalgic this morning! Better snap out of it!

Jim--I hope you are alive and well! This is getting to be a thing with you and you know how we all worry!!! I hope you are at least reading so you can keep up. If that cold did develope into something--feel better soon okay? We need a Smiley blowing its nose!
Well I have to get some calls done for work...better get them out of the way before the day rolls away on me...town for feed AGAIN (geez I feel like FT!) Have a fantastic day everyone! Terri O

Yep, here is another weird post. DH ET does the same thing with the Alarm !!!!! That's why we have seperate bedrooms !!
lau.gif
He got tired of my horse books and magazines poking him in the back. I would bring them to bed and fall asleep with them and they would fall between us. I had one horse book that was probably at least 8"x10"x3". That one was real heavy.
So wasn't long before he started using the guest bedroom, actually started during hunting season, he wanted to get to sleep early, undisturbed !!!
gig.gif
Butts and I will crawl over him in the middle of the night to warm up on these cold nights !! But not on the other night when I served him Chili for supper !!!
gig.gif

Yep, going to town today to buy pig feed !!! Good excuse to go to Rhinelander an Aldi's too!!! Need some frozen pizzas for last minute suppers !!

Well, gotta hit the girls room. Haven't been out of bed yet !!!

Now this is a weird post !!!!

I am alive,, shook the cold in a day or two...no time for sh!t like that..

Met with Dan yesterday.. He stopped here for a few minutes..He has a busy life style, but I can see chickens in his near future..

Checked out that old farts' thread.. lots of newbies checking in.. I hope they don't take the thread over with their wierd ideas.. they can use all the other threads for that.. I am not going to be in a hurry to add my 2-cents worth.. I already saw a few things I could take issue with.. I don't need to get kicked off again.. all in all it is a good thread, though..

the heater is doing exactly what it is supposed to do in the chicken coop.. I had to get a new waterer from F&F.. the old one was leaking all the water out by morning and wetting the floor.. It is a good thing I have the wood chips so deep, just to cover such a situation..

Afternoon all!
Where to start, well at the beginning!

I made a vet appointment for Ely to see about his limp. This morning he was walking just fine, so I decided to take the other Aussie Saxon instead. He has always had chronic on/off lameness with some days being better then others. Anyway, long story short the Doc and I talk about his lameness and we decide to take some xrays of his hips, back and knees. I was so expecting hip and maybe lower back arthritic changes with a tinge bit of knee wear. So there I was expecting to see thing but got blindsided by another! His hips and back were great! A little bit of remodeling in one hip but not enough to get excited over. Then the vet showed me his knees. That was a shocker! His left knee joint has some arthritic remodeling-enough that the vet said-"orthopedic consult"-twice! As in we need to have a consult to find out surgery options! Yikes! Saxie might have to have knee surgery! I'm on the fence. Age wise, Sax is right at the "line" dh and I have for when we do surgery. So I told this to my vet and we came up with a plan. We are going to try Dermaxx (a anti-inflamitory and pain relief med) for 14 days (plan 1). If there is no improvement at all, or if there is improvement but after the meds are stopped he returns back to where we started then we need to re-group.
We also are putting him on a prescription diet food. Last year he weighed 98#'s. I put him on 2 cups of diet/light food a day and he got put on thyroid meds and he lost 8#'s. He's still to heavy-although we did get brownie points for loosing the 8 pounds!.
So, in two weeks we recheck him after the medication trial and then evaluate him for possible hydrotherapy therapy (plan 2). The vet is hopefull that if the medication works then with the addition of hydrotherapy to help work the joint and get some more weight off then we won't need surgery (which is plan 3). What really sucks is that when you operate on one knee, then usually the other knee needs to be operated on as well. Which will happen in Saxie's case since he has remodeling in the right knee too.
Man! My poor pooch!

So, after my vet visit, I walked Miss Mauka and then got my hair cut. Dh tacked me down-stalker-like!- and then took me to lunch at Wild Wings. I then when to Mounds Pet Store to get cat food for the cats and then came home to blab to you all!

Carol-thanks for the dog toy info and link! That is a great price on the frisbee! I'll have to order one!

TO-your sleeping with pigs comment made me laugh! On sort of a related note, when I worked at the vet clinic years ago, we had clients that had rescued a pygmy goat named Roxy. Roxy was a "dog" and slept in bed with her "parents" and the other dogs. She also wore dippers.

Jim-glad to see you back and that you kicked the cold.

Well, thanks for letting me ramble....

Well, I'm back from town !!! All pooped out !!! I swear I get all this energy and think when I get home I'll do this and this and this !!! Nothing gets done. I have to come in the house to recoup !!!

MLH, what about putting poor pouch on Glucosamine ??? My Mom's doctor said that if it works on anything it will work on Knees the best. Hope the pain meds help. Poor pouch.

Well, DH is going to be referred to as just H today cause the D wouldn't be Dear if I used it today !!!
I went to the feed store, got regular Prince Brand Swine food for $17 for 50lbs. They had mini pig but the guy who works there said the he has compared the two and they are nearly identical. And the mini was $15 for 25lbs. !!!

Then hit the bread store hoping to get some bird bread in the big bag for $3. BINGO ! They had one bag left !!! I swear they never have it and I'm tired of calling. They won't hold it if they do so what is the point. I live 30 miles away and if they had it when I called they wouldn't when I got there.
They had some gatorade on clearance for $.25 a bottle. Got some for H cause he gets cramps from not drinking enough. And come cookies for $.25. Cheap snacks for us Animal feed broke people !!

Then hit Shopko and got baby Addie another Elmo Outfit for Christmas. She loves Elmo !! Anyway, at the checkout my tyme card said insuffecient funds !!!! Found out H didn't deposit his last check !!!! Idiot !!!
Then got home and got the mail and one of his Rx's that I had tried to order a few weeks ago was not ready to be filled well they filled it and billed it so SH!T, Couldn't go to Aldi's or Menards. I want to get a black cement mixing pan for the Pig to use for a litter box. Then I read that you can put a bunch of stones in another box and put their feed or treats in it. They love to furrow (is that what they do, I think that is what they call it) and spend hours looking for food.
Squeaky was find this AM, he had taken a pile of hay I left out of his vari kennel and moved it into it. They say they will bring things into their house. The day before he took the white feed bags that were laying around and had them in the house !!

Oh and I went to GoodWill and looked around. They had a real nice wire dog kennel that would be perfect for transporting chickens in the summer. Only wanted $20 for it but didn't have it !!!! D H !!!! Rats !
Got Squeaky a few tuffed animals, one being a little piggy !!

Got Addie a cute little green courdoroy dress with appliqued ponies on it for $4.00. It is adorable. Sure wish I could have gotten that pen but then I couldn't have gotten Squeaky any toys.

So now another trip to town to deposit his check !!!!! Geez!!!

And to top it all off I have another chicken in the house. One of my EEr's that I got from Ideal was acting very lethargic yesterday so I brought her in. She looked very cold and no food in her crop. wrapped her in a towel to warm her up. I was petting her head and noticed a small small flesh colored bug crawling on my hand !!! YIKES it was a lice I think !!! Looked her over closely and saw a few more. Not alot but YUK. Got out the ivermectin Pour on and gave her some. I itched all night after that. Put her in a cardboard box overnight with the towel and then put her in her own "Hospital Tote" today. She is eating and drinking. So who knows it she was ill and the lice took over or if the lice are what is making her act ill ???? Now I will have to treat the whole coop. Been meaning to do it anyway but now for sure I have to !!

Well, gotta figure out what's for supper !!! I hate H working til 7PM It is a real weird time to be making supper.

Ok, bye for now.

Glad to hear it Jimbo !!!! I was getting a cold last week too ! I went to Walmart and got their version of Cold EEZE, which are zinc lozenges and they really do cut the duration down of your cold and lesson the symptoms if you start taking them as soon as you think you might be getting sick. My niece is a pharmacist and she swears by them.

Jim, want some Runner duck Drakes for pets ?? The woman I got mine from has extra drakes. Oh and at the feed store the clerk has a friend that wants to rehome two Mini Pigs !!! According to the internet they can be fine kept in a single pig home !!! NO I am not going to be getting another one. First of all two males will fight that aren't neutered and raised together and the sows (females) I guess get terrible PMS, been there myself for years, don't wanna deal with that !!
lau.gif
AND I don't need a bunch of little piglets running around here !!! You know I can't get rid of things !!! Even Husbands !!!!
lau.gif
Unless of course I found him a good forever home !!!

Ok, Now where is everybody???? Talking with myself here !!

Just got off the phone with the woman who needs to rehome her two female pot belly pigs. So here is the scoop.

She rescued them from the animal shelter a few months ago. They ended up there because their owners home was forclosed on. Anyway, they are both spayed females. One is about 10 yrs old and the other one is between 5 and 6 yrs old. Older one is about 100 or so lbs and the younger one is about 50lbs. Very friendly pigs that love there tummies rubbed.

She can't keep them due to her own health issues. She wants them to go together since they were raised together and for PETS ONLY, not the dinner table. That is why she rescued them. She was afraid that they would be boght for the dinner table if she didn't get them.

I am going to get pictures from her then I'll post them here.

Where is everybody????

Evening all!
FT- I had him on some very strong glucosamine and chondroitin (sp) with MSM and Hyluranic (sp) acid ( I hate trying to spell some of these words!) veterinary strength supplement. It worked very well at first but over time it reached the point where it did all it was going to do. I took him off the supplement and no change in lameness. I was actually hoping to see a "decline" so to speak when I took him off the supplement, telling me that the supplements were contributing to helping him. That did not occur so I knew that the supplements had done all they could.

Thanks but no thanks on the pigs! I have enough pig like dogs!! I don't need the real thing!

On your EE, it's been my experience that sick chickens are fair game for lice and mites. Those little suckers like to go for the sick ones. Although it sounds like you got to her in time and that she is on the mend! I hope see continues to get better!

Good evening! Split pea soup for dinner tonight and it was darn delicious! Now it is time for jello for desert. I just remembered it...we were supposed to have it with the soup! Oh well.

MLH--I had our late BC on some stuff for his arthritis. We used another product for the old horses. The dog stuff is called Flavocin and they send it in the mail monthly. It has a bunch of stuff in it and I think it gave our BC several more pain free years. The Rymadyl didnt help him at all but this stuff sure did.

FT you are a busy lady! I hate when that happens with the check! Our bank has a policy that it takes 2 days before the funds are available...when we put it in on Saturday it isnt available until Tuesday! Try to go our to dinner on a Saturday...forget it!

Well, gonna eat my desert, lock up the critters and hit the hay. I am tired from bringing up the Christmas decos and putting up the tree today...and about a thousand other things.
Good night and sweet dreams! Terri O

Noboday wants the Runner duck drakes or the female pot belly pigs ??? Come on guys, party poopers !!! BTW PBP's are litter box trainable. Can't wait to give Squeaky or whatever his name is his stuffed toys in the morning !!!
