Good Afternoon All!
Well my most awesome neighbors plowed my driveway last night! That was an unexpected treat this morning! I though I heard their plow and figures they were doing their driveway. I guess after they did theirs they got mine too!!! I just had to clear around the car and not shovel the whole driveway!
I also found out a very interesting fact. My trucks temp gauge does do negative numbers! LOL! I figured after it it hit 0* I'd just get and Err message. But nope! This morning while on the way to he dump it was a nice -2*. Love this weather!!!
So far today I got the driveway cleared of snow, part of the walk way around the house and I made a little path to the coop. I also got the back porch pad thing all cleared off for the dogs.
I got the trash taken to the dump and I went to Good Will for some extra glass bowls to use for water for the rabbits. Since their bowls freeze, I can bring in one set to get all de iced and use the other one for water and just swap them out as the day goes on.
Bubba and I are in a battle. I do not want him on the kitchen counters and yet this is where he has decided he has to be. He never really cared about them until 2 days ago. Now they are the best place in the house to be! I told him that I am winning this battle so he'd best give up. So far we are at a draw. I used aluminum foil and at first he did not like it. Know it's fun and makes really cool noise. I use a can of compressed air and spray him like you do keyboard dust, but it works when I catch him. Next on the list is contact paper and them double sided sticky taped place mats...I will win...this...battle...
What else, oh yes my egg count has gone way down the last few days. From 9 to 2. I found out why. The girls have decided to lay in SG's nest box. Right on top of her. They ignore her grumps. So this morning as I was showing one hen off of her, SG stood up to reset herself and I found all the MIA eggs. So after I eat lunch, I've got to go get the eggs and toss them and set up a SG broody pen. *sigh*.
Oh before I forget, I wanted to mention to..BF4 I think...the vaccine question person....anyway the topic about feeding medicated chick starter. I just wanted to say that should you decide to raise meat birds, you can only give medicated chick starter for the first 3 days-up to a week. Then you have to feed a non medicated feed. This allows for the meat withdrawl time on the medication in the feed.
I actually do not feed medicated chick starter to my flock. I like to treat only when there is a symptom or problem. I like to know the dosages of what I am giving so I can either adjust the treatment or change to another medication that will work better.
Tom -I think there will be people who will plan to set and hatch for the Fools Hatch (Foolish Hatch?) and there will be those that either set the day or hatch that day. I hope to do both. Maybe I can get some pheasant or quail eggs. I'll have to see if DH can get any for me. Hey If I do hatch either of those, would anyone want some?
CC-OMG!! I am dying of cuteness over load over here!!! Those babies are simply precious!!
Angie-I have only seen Sizzles in pics. Your girl should be laying she is what 9 months old? You might have to seperate her to see if she is indeed laying. To be honest, the frizzle I had was never a great layer and I only had the one so I really can't be a good judge on the laying quality of the breed...They are beyond cute though. DH would kill me if I got a Frizzle again. He thinks that they are completely worthless. His quote when ever I think about it is: "The only thing more worthless then a Frizzle is a Silke". If I want a Silkie it's ":The only thing more worthless then a Silkie is a Frizzle." He'd be beyond words if I brought home a Sizzle....Hey....HAHAHAHAHHAAH!! I need a Sizzle!!! AHAHAHAHAHH
Ok, I need to go eat lunch then go figure out the SG issue...
Later!
