Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

That is one cutie pie !!! I love little mix chicks !!!

And speaking of your DH I had a dream last night that with an old boyfriend in it !!!! CC remember when I met your husband I told you that I once dated a guy that was Italian that looked like your DH. That was the guy in my dream last night. My nephew was in the dream and a bunch of other weird stuff. TO you are not the only one with vivid dreams ! I love my dreams. I actually wake up and talk sometimes. Then if I wake up I purposely go back to sleep to continue my dreams. Sometimes it takes a while in the morning to clear my head and realize what I dreamt isn't reality.

Reminds me, I have to check my lott ticket from last night, speaking of dreaming !!!

Congrats on chick number Two !!!!

FT: I may do that if he doesnt perk up soon! They had warm oatmeal and scrambled eggs yesterday...this morning spinach and scrambled eggs. He ate some but doesnt have his usual appetite..If he ends up in the holding cage with the light, Ill make him his own egg and hope it warms him, I also have one of those back things you heat up in the microwave, I wrapped that up in a towel and put out for him. As long as I had it in my lap and held him,, he loved it, the minute I put him down-he went back to the sunshine.

The one extension cord I have is for my heated waterer..I had unplugged that for the heat lamp. I could probably leave the waterer unplugged over night....

CC: They have vitamin in thier water-so have that one covered too! I have both cracked corn which I have given small amounts at sunset, and I have scratch. I may go try the scratch as thats suppossed to be like candy right? May give them the sugar high to get moving!

Thank you both for all the great advice!!!!

Just so long as you aren't dreamin' about my man!

Nah, he's in his sweats. Me too! So much chick excitement this morning.

That is a really good suggestion about the warm oatmeal & scrambled eggs. I made my girls some warm oatmeal for breakfast, with bananas & cinnamin mixed in. And it's gone.

ETA: try giving him some black oil sunflower seed if you have it.

Just gave them scratch and BOSS-that got them all moving. Couldnt figure out why 2 of my hens didnt come in from the run with all the excitement of treats-found them in thier fav dust spot...suspicious when one of them still didnt come when I spread some out for them-dork was sitting on an egg in their dust bath!!! LOL Some of the younger ones are really having issues with using the nestboxes even with golf balls in them. I have one open box (L shaped), 3 of the small joined wood boxes, and 2 of the nice gray plastic ones. Anyones guess where they will decide to lay for the day...and always find one somewhere random on the floor, outside, open bag of pine shavings etc

Good Afternoon All!

Well my most awesome neighbors plowed my driveway last night! That was an unexpected treat this morning! I though I heard their plow and figures they were doing their driveway. I guess after they did theirs they got mine too!!! I just had to clear around the car and not shovel the whole driveway!

I also found out a very interesting fact. My trucks temp gauge does do negative numbers! LOL! I figured after it it hit 0* I'd just get and Err message. But nope! This morning while on the way to he dump it was a nice -2*. Love this weather!!!

So far today I got the driveway cleared of snow, part of the walk way around the house and I made a little path to the coop. I also got the back porch pad thing all cleared off for the dogs.
I got the trash taken to the dump and I went to Good Will for some extra glass bowls to use for water for the rabbits. Since their bowls freeze, I can bring in one set to get all de iced and use the other one for water and just swap them out as the day goes on.

Bubba and I are in a battle. I do not want him on the kitchen counters and yet this is where he has decided he has to be. He never really cared about them until 2 days ago. Now they are the best place in the house to be! I told him that I am winning this battle so he'd best give up. So far we are at a draw. I used aluminum foil and at first he did not like it. Know it's fun and makes really cool noise. I use a can of compressed air and spray him like you do keyboard dust, but it works when I catch him. Next on the list is contact paper and them double sided sticky taped place mats...I will win...this...battle...

What else, oh yes my egg count has gone way down the last few days. From 9 to 2. I found out why. The girls have decided to lay in SG's nest box. Right on top of her. They ignore her grumps. So this morning as I was showing one hen off of her, SG stood up to reset herself and I found all the MIA eggs. So after I eat lunch, I've got to go get the eggs and toss them and set up a SG broody pen. *sigh*.

Oh before I forget, I wanted to mention to..BF4 I think...the vaccine question person....anyway the topic about feeding medicated chick starter. I just wanted to say that should you decide to raise meat birds, you can only give medicated chick starter for the first 3 days-up to a week. Then you have to feed a non medicated feed. This allows for the meat withdrawl time on the medication in the feed.
I actually do not feed medicated chick starter to my flock. I like to treat only when there is a symptom or problem. I like to know the dosages of what I am giving so I can either adjust the treatment or change to another medication that will work better.

Tom -I think there will be people who will plan to set and hatch for the Fools Hatch (Foolish Hatch?) and there will be those that either set the day or hatch that day. I hope to do both. Maybe I can get some pheasant or quail eggs. I'll have to see if DH can get any for me. Hey If I do hatch either of those, would anyone want some?

CC-OMG!! I am dying of cuteness over load over here!!! Those babies are simply precious!!

Angie-I have only seen Sizzles in pics. Your girl should be laying she is what 9 months old? You might have to seperate her to see if she is indeed laying. To be honest, the frizzle I had was never a great layer and I only had the one so I really can't be a good judge on the laying quality of the breed...They are beyond cute though. DH would kill me if I got a Frizzle again. He thinks that they are completely worthless. His quote when ever I think about it is: "The only thing more worthless then a Frizzle is a Silke". If I want a Silkie it's ":The only thing more worthless then a Silkie is a Frizzle." He'd be beyond words if I brought home a Sizzle....Hey....HAHAHAHAHHAAH!! I need a Sizzle!!! AHAHAHAHAHH

Ok, I need to go eat lunch then go figure out the SG issue...
Later!

Finally caught up. I got nothing really to say just wanted to mark my spot. Is that a no no on the byc rules? well off to take my tree down
gig.gif

gig.gif

love.gif
those chickies are cute!

Cute pics of the peeps and mom CC! I'm glad she is being a good mom.

What does raim mean about mark my spot?

Once again I'm glad the sun is out. Fried venzun liver mixed with layer ration for a warm treat today. The Buckeyes really like and need the meat for a healthy treat.

later... bigz

RAIM--you are funny! I dont think there is a rule like that. I know there was one about "bumping" your own post up but I think it is OK to mark your spot. At least on our own thread we arent going to turn you in if there is! (right guys?
wink.png
)
MLH--if you hatch pheasants or quail I would take some! New blood for my Couturnix or Bobs would be even better! I dont have any of them....yet. H&R--do you still have your cool pheasant? I havent read anything about it for a while...BTW--how's that hatch going at your place?

I went out and took a bunch of picks of birds today...I am going to load them up and then try the picture thing again...getting a little nervous already! FM messaged me too and I have to find that tutorial about making the computer faster on this site. I think I know where it is...I might be calling on your super-sleuthing powers FT!

Good luck with the battle of counter cats MLH! Mine never went on the counter until we got the Jack Russel Terror--now she and one of the BCs "hunt" cats all day when inside. If a cat steps on the floor they are after them! THe funny thing is that they only go after 4 of my cats...the other ones know better than to run! That is what they want them to do--the chase is the thing. You could try the penny can thing. Put 10 pennies in a can and tape them in there. A good shake might work or maybe toss the can near him...he might think the sky is falling every time he jumps up there. You could also use sheet pans full of water. That is what I did on my stove to keep them off...I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

I will be back with my picks...Terri O
