Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Golden Eye(the male) has grown his tail back in nicely- read that they will drop the tail like this one did when caught.

ok "marking my spot" in the posts, sometimes I'll read new posts but not reply to anything. then when I come BACK on I click on go to my last post and it will take my all the way back to MY last post. but I may have already read 4 pages father. BUT I do see that there is a word bubble with a green arrow, I wonder, does that take me to the last post I READ? hmmm, I'll check that out.

some cute cute pictures! I got some one interested in buying hatching eggs. should I charge more for them? even though we sell eating eggs for cheaper? I suppose, cause I'll pay better attention to the ones that i'll be selling (is not stuffing them in the fridge) not to mention I'm separating breeds this year so I will have pure breeds not my usual mixes lol definitly gonna charge megas for my sizzle eggs. I'm gonna hatch all those eggs!

and YES if we all set eggs on April 1st, they will be like 4 weeks old come the bash!

Oh TO to make your pictures smaller in your post, 1st a question, when your in your reply box and you insert a picture, do you see the whole picture? if yes, click on the picture and you will see little squares in the corners (and on each side) left click and hold and drag the corner of the picture toward the center of the picture, THAT will make it smaller. been there done that lol

ETA, FT I told DH that if any hen goes broody, I'm just gonna let her hatch eggs. lol maybe not that bad mama. she was BAD the last 2 years (her first/second times) I took ALL her eggs from her and gave them to my broody brahma. she did wonderful! she hatched out all 12!

Remember yesterday I told you all about two of my hens that I brought in because they were acting like the cold was taking a toll on them?
Well, check this out. I found this in there pen today. At first I thought it was a big piece of poop, like the broody hen poop because it was covered with shavings. Then I thought it was an egg yolk without a shell. So I rinsed it off and broke it open. It is a solid mass of yellow. Looks almost like a hard boiled egg. Totally solid throughout !! The above photo shows what it looks like inside.
I have no idea what it is. It was layed sometime today because I cleaned all of the pens last night. Almost looks like it is layers of yolk that were "cooked" inside of her and never developed a shell. I didn't look at the vents of the hens to see who may have layed it since neither hen has layed an egg since they were inside. I don't know if they have layed before either since they are both pullets. Weird. Anyone ever see anything like this? I've had shelless eggs but it was a yolk without a shell and was fluid. This is solid. And it has absolutely no smell to it at all !!! Weird.

Love all the chickie pics!

Sissy is sitting on my lap right now... slowly dieing ... she's been getting weaker and weaker... she threw up a bit of crop mush (didn't smell bad). Now she's gasping. There is mucus now (didn't have it before). She wouldn't even take water today. Have no idea what's wrong. Her symtoms don't seem to fit anything I read.

Sissy hung on 'till about 4:00, I was stoking the fire, when I got back she was gone.

She was a sweet little girl and only a year old. Hope what she had wasn't contagious.

Grrrr.... can't sleep... cheer me up with chickie pics!

Sure hope Jim gets back on soon! Strange without him!

Hope you all have a good day!

Chili last night was real good! Everyone got over stuffed! I make mine mild, we like to TASTE all the good stuff in it. Don't understand why some people like to make stuff so hot that you only taste the hot

After seeing H&R's pretty chicks think the ones with stripes are Leghorns. CC I knew that would ruffle your feathers! But you forgot to make the PO'd proud mama noise.

I put a heat lamp out last night and Wally my roo (along with my banty) slept under it. He was more alert this morning but then is going back to huddling down and sleeping. If hes acting this way from being cold a couple days, would he have perked up by now? Anything else anyone suggests I should do for him? He has no discharge, examinng him-does have mites or lice...not sure what else to check or do. Should I just give him time and the heat lamp and expect him to pull out of it?

Cind: Sorry to hear about your pullet. How sad to lose her and not knowing what was wrong!!! Sometimes I wonder what I got myself into. This was to be a relaxing hobby-with my fav hen slipping her hocks, the boys fighting (bleeding comb) and now Wally acting under the weather...this is all pretty stressful.
