Someone on here a few years ago and a whole thread on hatching them out. they are like the size of a big nerf football. Real cool looking eggs that is for sure !! And I don't want all roosters !!! lol

He knows I mean that in a loving way !!

Boy do I feel like crap today. I have a sore throat !! I moved my paint chicks into the bedroom into a bigger tub then the 10 aquarium. Now I have a chick TV next to my TV or close anyway. Little buggers are only a week old and dthey are trying to jump out.
PLUS I see them doing that stare down like play fight between roosters !!! Please Please don't let me have all roosters !!!

CC I think you need an Emu or two too !!!! I heard they can really kick hard though. I wonder if they would kick at my goats and ponies ?

Another Lavender spit silkie chick hatched this morning. Another darky with a little bit of tan. So now I have 5 lavender splits in the bator, will move them later today when the newest one dries off. And I think another one or two lavender spits in with the paints. Wish I could remember things. Who was it that said I need to write things down????
I do have the newest eggs in the bator written down. I also write on the eggs with marker. I usualy write down the lockdown and due dates too but didn't these last few batches. That's why I didn't get them in lockdown in time.

Another trip to town today. Realized we needed chicken food. I called and they said they can mix up a batch for me today already.

Good thing because I think I might be sicker over the weekend.
I was going to put a pork roast and venison roast in the oven today with beacon on top. But I saw a recipe using coke, onion soup mix and mushroom soup. Whatcha think, Should I try it?

Ok better get up and adam. Hopefully I can pick up OM's check on the way so I can pay for the food !! LOL
Then it's time for hay on Sunday !!! No rest for the wicked or the checkbook for that matter !!

Friday Fish Fry All.... the coleslaw is made, the talipia is soaking in milk, the fresh cut fries with the skin on are soaking in ice water and the hunger is building.

What a gorgeous day for JAN in Wisconsin. Went and payed the taxes, stopped by church and signed a couple bills to be paid and went to the feed mill. Picked up 200lbs of layer ration and 100lbs of whole corn for $45....that's 15 cents/lb all bagged and loaded in the truck....not bad, eh!

Way to go Angie with the egg sales....

CC sounds and looks like your OM has quite the imagination

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Angie, I love your note to your customers...especially that is from the hens. How cute.
Been busy building a hydroponic garden for the shop. Sick of buying herbs, veggies and strawberries from grocery. Expensive and no taste. Hopefully I will eating my own before long.
Also started the mealworm farm. My girls are so anxious to eat some bugs and I am anxious to stop buying them!

FT, Giovani is adorable! What I would give to have a few of those!

O.M.G. FT! Giovani is adorable! I actually picked up my lap top to give him a virtual kiss on his little pony lips! I love love love ponies! Love the black and white theme you have going on!

CC-Loved your DH's picture fixin'! That is so true!

Welcome KF and good luck with the veggie growning!

FT-Emu's eat a formula for ratites. I have to get more info from dh as far as protein levels and such. I can tell you that emu's and ostriches eat different feeds because they don't process their feed the same way-digestion wise.
I would say that as long as they are raised with livestock, the livestock is part of their flock and intruders are not tollerated.

Ok, I've gotta go check the bator temp...

interesting thought here! How big does an EMU get and what type of space requirement do they need? Does it require a special permit?

busy day here- finished painting our unit that has to be ready for Feb 1st.- it's a good sized 4 bedroom, now we have to go through and clean it. will have to remove candy and gum from the laminate floors and base boards- it's sad how some people live.

had to take DS(6) with me today- he wasn't feeling good- sore throat, barky cough and a low grade fever- poor guy, he is now napping on the couch. once the other 2 get in from taking the dogs outside I'll head out to get chores done in daylight.

ok Wisconsin peeps!!
I have a question for y'all. DH mentioned that he (read me) wants to try to set and incubate EMU eggs. I told him to wait on calling his emu connection until I ask and get a response as to whether or not someone here wants to be a pawnee. Me, being the pawner, I'd incubate and hatch out the chicks or whatever they are called and then you, being the pawnee, would agree to give them a home.
Emu's are terrific livestock guardians and once they are full sized they can and kill predators. I know for a fact they they kill coyotes. I will say that until they are full grown, they are on the food chain to so speak so you will need to keep them safe like you would your chickens and rabbits. Once they are adults, not much can take them down and they can live with goats, sheep, cows, horses, and such quite well.
So anyway, this is the first step in this thought. If some one is interested, PM me and we can go from there.
DH says thank you for your time to read this!
Cheers
