Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I can NOT get this story out of my mind: 50,000 chickens in Cali left without food for over two weeks!! Less than 5,000 made it. I wish I could somehow adopt a couple. I sure hope and pray they prosecute the owner.

There are some really touching stories and pictures of a hen seeing the sun, grass, outside for the first time ever, and how some of these were so weak they couldn't even hold up their heads...had forgotten even how to eat.

Man o man o man, was that ever some heavy snow.. I had to scoop and carry much of it, couldn't just push through like normal cold snow.. I was out there almost 3 hours.. just barely got finished and it started snowing again.. just now it is more like rain..

I had to put the Blazer into all wheel drive to get it moved out of the way.. Then Annie got her car stuck, so I had to jockey my way around her to push her out with the tractor.. After all these years, you would think that she would know to not spin the tires so hard.. when you're stuck, you're stuck.. she was no help when I was pushing her either, so I just got the bucket under her bumper and lifted her out..

Yes, I saw the Peacocks, FT. too far to drive for one.. I have 2 mature hens, should be enough for this year..

I still haven't heard from whoever it was that was looking for sebastopol geese.. If you snooze, you lose..

I know I had more comments, but I am tired and not remembering anything..

OH yes, the milkhouse chicken coop.... is there a pump or well in that milkhouse? Not a good idea to put chickens in there if there is.. you could contaminate your well water if you still have well water in your house..

Evening all!
Man is it gross outside! I'm glad I am in. Checked the kits when I turned out the lights. Mama is a little jumpy so I just put may hand in the nest to make sure they were buried and warm. She hopped in the nest when I left. The coop was not as cold as I though it would be.

The Girls got mealies today and some left over taco meat and rice. They loved it!

Managed to get some sand and I salted the ice path when it was warm this morning and sanded the then muddy path this afternoon. I need more sand but I will need DH to me my work horse. I can't lift the bags any more. Used to be able to fling those things around like I uses to fling 100# hay bales, but no more......now I have to have DH fling the heavy stuff. I hate it. Love him for helping me but hate the fact I feel so weak...

TO, Ang, and CC-Glad I could help in the math department! See now you need more chickens. You know how many you have so you don't have enough!!

This is why I will not buy eggs or meat from the store.

Well it's what we call the milk house. I dont know what is was used for. There s no pump or anything in it. There is a concrete floor. Technically we could open up the upper crawl space for the chicken too for more space, but I not want to have to climb up there to clean it out! I'll take some pics and post them. See if it passes as a temporary housing unit and future breeder hut.;)

It snowed then rained last night here..... the back yard is a flood! I was checking the DOT road conditions all day long today; I do not think I have ever seen so many black lines on the highways (means impassible)!

Tiki get better!

Raim, if you want a decent cut my stylist is a teacher at Gil-tech. She is a PRO at cutting hair. Never have a complaint with what she does with me, I always give her the go-ahead to do whatever she feels like doing too.

TO apparently my BIL has Celiac..... I guess I am going to get REALLY good at making foods that are glut free! ;)

hi folks,

long day ,,,most snow I've seen in years from one 12hr storm, got at least 20" of wet stuff 25mph gusts and steady 13mph winds made for some drifting I tellya,,,geeze. That wind was my friend,,nothing stuck to the greenhouse,,sides are piled up 8' though,,,needs to be gone asap

DD got stuck in the drive, good thing,,, she was determined to try and get to work,,,,much better stuck at home than on the road

All schools and functions shut down, I was surprised at all the small businesses closed,,,must have needed a snow day. Should be a big weekend for bubble heads around town.

Town crews finally got the side roads opened early afternoon, friend came and cleared the drive, I stucked my ole tractor which added to the delightful day,,,,,,tomorrows 1st project then finish cleanup

Dinner involved a huge pot of chili, cubed backstrap and home made chirizo,,nummm

FT where do you buy feed? I'm always looking for sources I haven't checked with Farmers Feed in Rhinelander, that's on my list for next trip over

thought there must be a pic that I can't see on bf4's post,,,I must be tired

old guy needs his pillow,,,night all
