Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good morning , sorry to hear about Donny.. He is gone all the time? sounds like an ideal hubby to me.. I think there is more to it, usually is..

Cind, a broken toe is not a "put down" type of injury. chickens are always breaking toes, or throwing a hip out.. they usually heal on their own.. I am surprised that mine don't have more broken toes.. just about every day I end up standing on a foot or two when I am in the coop..

frozen slushy ruts are the pits to drive on.. at least scrape it level if you can't scrape it off..

I notices water dripping off the roof at 7AM already..

I didn't see my big peacock yesterday.. and not yet today, either.. he roosts on the edge of the big lean to roof.. I have not gone back there to check on him..

Good Morning,

Thanks for the well wishes. I am feeling better today.

H@R sorry to hear about your mom. I hope she improves more everyday.

Sorry about the chicks and hope you get that house clean Apyl.

Cute pics WCC.

What did I miss? Short term memory loss.

I woke up quickly this morning with a start. Sounded like I had caught a rat in a mouse trap in the closet and roosters crowing in the house. Found out it was a hen stuck behind the bed and my one rooster crowing in the kitchen along with a hen crowing in the kitchen. Sounded like a cockerel. But she was belting them out one after the other. AKK! These cochins are driving me nuts! They are inside so I can get some pure eggs from these special ones as the coop is full of roos too. LOL Nw that I am feeling better I can build them a pen. Got the hen out from behind the bed, checked the mouse trap everything ok, and searched for cockerel only to find goofy hen crowing away. Should have had a video of that!!!! For the non believers. LOL

Hen with broken toe should be ok. Make sure there is no opening in skin for infection to get in though.

My incubator with 48 eggs (max cap 42) is peeping this morning. A blk cochin egg is peeping. Time to add water, shut off turner and dont watch. LOL The cocins in the house were being real good, they had found a cardboard box with pine branches to sleep in and stayed on their rug all day~ I think they are getting a little too comfortable in the house now. LOL

I got my call for my order from Ideal seriously minutes after walking away from the computer. So I had to jump back on for a sec and show off some more chicks. This time I got 8 silkies ( 2 black, 2 white, 2 partridge, and 2 buff) plus 6 peanus all brownish orange.
Oh and I gotta say, the silkies feet look really weird with the extra toe. And all arrived alive and fiesty.

How adorable! It looks like they were packed very well.

Good morning...I just knew if I posted about not getting sick I would :( Last night on the way to the 4H meeting my throat was hurting and my ears felt plugged...to day I am stiffer than usual too. Oh well, like I alwyas say, "it is what it is." I like your thought of it being an "Eeyore kind of day" H&R! Fits perfectly.

I was also wondering why a coop needed to be built if you have outbuildings...yeah let's get some pics already! I have birds in my milk house too. It started as a tack room for our overflow stuff that we dont keep in the trailer but it is kind of camp in there...it is built into the hill on one side and the rain/snow/melt seems through the wall...bad for leather. Not too bad for pigeons though! I also have a flock of chickens that likes to go in there...and my feral cat gets fed there too--it is a multipurpose building for sure! I like the drain in the floor.

So Carol--did you mean you quit your job? Too much and it got to you? Do you have something else lined up? Jim-you make me chuckle with your "well, that didnt work." comments! Unkadan I sure hope the snow doesnt collapse the wall of the greenhouse! That would really be a bummer! 8' of snow against the wall?
Yikes!

I have to make that dessert for tomorrow so I guess I better get my butt out for chores...I am bundling up for sure--got the chills here....9-5 is at the Fireside Theater--gotta make my reservation. I have 3 tickets that DH got me for Christmas a year ago...now I just have to figure out when DD20 will be home to go!
Have a great day everyone--dont overdo it! Terri O
