Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

So how do I train him? I gave him the boot-which is now getting Danny (the roo I wanted to keep and who has been top roo but seems as though Wally is edging upon him) all worked up. Danny has always had issues with my winter boots...doesnt seem to connect the boots iwth me. I hate this...I feel like if I get aggresive with the roos it just gets them more worked up. Am I better just staying out of there for awhile? Or is it more trying to teach them whos boss and to be scared of me? I dont want them scared of me either-just respect me. I dont want this to be a challange everytime I walk in there. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Tough morning. Rcvd a letter that my DD12 has now missed 11 days of school and is being monitored for attendance (She has Diabetes and celaic and low immune system). We were planning on a trip to Vegas in April to see my dad he is 82 and not a lot of time left-plus his living situation is imploding.BUt with her attendance-not sure how we can now do this. Then find out my DD12 state tests came back very high-yet she is failing 2 classes....homework from missing school when sick-teacher gives 24 hrs to turn in 3 days worth of homework. This on top of getting house rented out, still trying to get H & R to figure out my taxes from LAST yr so I can start on this yrs taxes (reciprocity issues), taking on someone elses workload at work on top of mine, and 18 hrs so far on the ph trying to get DD12s prescriptions re order so on. (=bad morning)

So I go out to the coop for a sanity break-and my Roo Wally decides to pick this time to attack me-what a lil &#^##!!!!! As Im dealing with this-one of my lil bantys is out in the run screaming-barn cat found a way into the run-throw barn car out into the barn-where the (Cat killing) dog starts chasing her OMG!!!!!! Twilight zone.

I have someone that wants Wally but now Im trying to figure out how to catch him-and I had told this person what a lil sweatheart he is-What now? I won't kill any of my chickens but am stuck as I dont want my peaceful time with my girls to turn into me fearing being attacked!!!

With your DD being sick her doctor can give you a note confirming her illnesses and they wont count against her . My DD is 9yo and has Asthma pretty bad and has missed 17 days so far and the school is fine with it since the doctor let the school know that she gets sick easily and sometimes needs to be home with her treatments. Also I'm not sure yet how it is here in Wisconsin but in Illinois its a state law to give the kids 24 hours for EACH day missed so is she missed 3 days she has 6 to make up the work. I would deffinitly look into it. I went thru it with my DD in her old school but luckily the school she is in now is very understanding and cooperative. Good luck.

Ok so question. 4 chicks have died (1 DOA, the other 3 -1 each day) so far from Meyer and now I have 1 more on its way out. It's doing the same as the other 3. Its fine one minute then starts laying around alot, then gets wobbly and wont open its eyes. Then falls over slowly and dies. This time its a Black Jersey Giant as far as I know, he was fine last night up flapping, running, eating ,drinking, ect now today he is just laying around, when the others step on him he gets up then lays back down. I took him out of the cage and he just cuddles up in my hand and closes his eyes.
Any clue whats going on ?? The have fresh water, purina medicated chick starter as the food. All the rest of the chicks are wandering all around and acting normal.

Here is an article for Wally. I train my roosters in a benevolent but leading role, like Caeser Milan with the dogs. Some of the responses in this thread seem very useful. Hope it helps. .https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/169613/why-is-my-rooster-so-mean-help

I would personally not give a mean rooster to anyone.

I love Cesear I used his method with our Pointer mix and had him leash trained the first time out. Now when on a leash he does not walk past me before than he was never on a leash and pulled like crazy.

Angiebubs, grab that rooster and hang him upside down! It may be that if the other rooster is dominant he may be taking his frustration out on you. If he goes to a new home with no other roosters he'll be fine.

I wouldn't let the school's threats of truency stop you from visiting your father.
