Ok everyone. I am trying not to freak out about chicken math. I am thinking about how many chickens I will have by June. I am thinking I am going to be way in over my head. I need people to tell me chickens are really easy to keep, and that all will be well.
1st batch of chicks: 3
2nd batch of chicks: 5
3rd batch of chicks: 20 from Bev Davis
4th batch of chicks: (still incubating) may be keep an LO or two?
5th batch of chicks: 9 chicks
That will be: 3 Easter Eggers, 1 Cochin, 1 BCM, 1 Splash Marans, 20 Wheaten Marans, 5 silkies, 4 Faverolles, 1-2 Lavender Orps.
Seriously, I was fine with my numbers. But the Bev Davis opportunity was not expected. So as of right now I only have the tiny coop which holds 4 LF. I have 2 brooders going. Talk me down off the chicken math ledge! Tell me I am not a nut job for getting so many chickens. Tell me I can totally do this, and will love it. Tell me I will have lots of delicious eggs to eat and share. AAAAHHHHHH!
(the overwhelmed feeling has nothing to do with feeling crappy I'm sure... But pep talks and words of encouragement would be lovely)
WOW !! DrH, I almost didn't recognize you with all that hair removed..
and I am glad you got your "jiggler" problem all solved.. I was a bit confused about what it was you were referring to.. I thought it might be a "medical" problem,, if you know what I mean ??

I hear you about the barber gal,, " hack, cough,, jeese I feel rough,, I almost didn't come to work today.." yeah, well thanks alot.....
does anybody know how peafowl court? other than the peacock showing off ? one of the hens was pecking at the male's beak, like kissing ?? do they do that ?
Went to the town board meeting yesterday about getting chickens...they are going to look into the matter and maybe decide either way at the next ordinance meeting...and the reason why is our well water and only having an acre of land. My water is full of pesticides from the golf course across the street...is the township going to stop the golf course from spraying crap on the fairways...I think not...what's a little poo going to do...not much...
Have read on some of the peafowl threads that it is the girl who decides if the boy is worthy enough in her eyes for mating. Maybe they were sharing a yummy find!WOW !! DrH, I almost didn't recognize you with all that hair removed..
