MX!

Dr.H that pic looks just like you! You kinda look like Opie..... :)

We had a company chili dump today.... would somebody please explain to me why you would put mushrooms in chili????? I know the WI thing to do is add macaroni noodles, but mushrooms? That was a new one. The guys made 3 batches; Super Mild, Mild, and Spicy! I had the Spicy and it was not too bad! I was smart and brought my own supply of milk so I did not suffer for the rest of the day too badly, one of the front office girls was in agony from the heartburn (I do not know why she felt she had to broadcast this, just take some tums!). My contribution was cornbread; I made Mexican cornbread and regular sweet cornbread.

Nothing much happening here.... ready to go to bed since tomorrow is an earlier than normal day.

Hi MXM

WELCOME! I'll warn you some of these folks are a little fruity. Some of them are a little sassy. Some are super funny. Some of them are old (not naming names Jim or joe). But most of them are super knowledgeable, and helpful.

I too am new-ish. I just hatched my first chicks at the end of Jan. I hope you check in here as compulsively as I do! It's addicting....

Hey everybody! I have a feeling that we may be getting LOTS of new members! You all know by now how BIG my mouth is...and Lake Mills just OKed the keeping of chickens in TOWN!!!!

Yup--,I am happy! Not sure what this will mean for my egg business; either I will be selling LOTS of chicks or hatching eggs or, when folks find out that chickens are "a little more than a cat" but they are hooked on good eggs....YUP--my egg sales will actually GO UP! Yeah! So--I met a new chicken farmer tonight. He came over to get some hatching eggs from me (from CL) and was a really neat guy. I told him all about BYC( Never heard of us--

) So maybe he will come on and introduce himself. Anyway...he is from Columbus and wants to hatch some birds and then take them to his brother's(?) farm to live.

There is so much that I wanted to comment on...I guess I am going to have to take my own advice and open 2 windows to comment as I read....oh well...another post that has taken eons to actually get up there for you all to read it! So I guess I will just sit here with my little cochin "Tommy Tutone" here on my lap...yeah I had to bring him in today...the others must have been not letting him eat or drink cause he is thin and looking bad.....so I now have another house chicken--at least until summer and I can give him his own girls! I hope al this extra attention is going to make him feel better...he didnt even know what a meal worm was!!!
He just had a great big drink of my sherry! OMG
ep.gif
he certainly knew what a wine glass was...must be a Chicago bird!!! Sheesh! Terri O

Terri, I think your birds have an alcohol problem. There's the chicken drinking beer in your avatar, now this one drinking sherry. It has nothing to do with the fact that YOU'RE drinking it first...

Welcome Mx to Cheese Heads

Just thought I might mention I saw you were interested in getting 1 silkie to put in with your large fowl. I'm not so sure you would want to do that. Especially getting just one.
They are a bantam breed (small) and with the big top knots, crests, they don't see well and can fall victum to the attacks of the larger birds whether that be from breeding or being bullied. Most people house their silkies and bantams in separate pens. If you would have a huge coop and run your chances would be better housing them together.

Well, Farrier is coming in the morning, gotta get some sleep.

Night all, maybe. I might lurk for a while and reply if I need to set anyone straight (looking at Jim, DrHa, little Joe and bf4m) ps Mx, those are the trouble makers on the cheeseheads. I woudl include Bigzio in there but he started the thread so I don't want to stir the pot !!! Just sayin !! lol

Whew......I am SO GLAD not to be one of the trouble makers...thanks Frenchie! (O was sweating for a bit thinking I would be at the end of that list,,,,) I have a few more pics for your viewing pleasure! The trio in the chick TV right now...first the ROO:
