WELCOME MxMarg!!You guys are my people! Should I be scared? I'm a brand noobie who has had chicken wishes for several years now. And this is the year we're going to do it! I've been steeped in R&D for a while now and thus, discovered this site! ...like ALL OVER the web! very prolific!
We'll be starting in on building our chicken tractor that will rove our 3 rural acres about 40 min E of the state capitol. Is there anyone in our neck of the woods? "Our" refers to me, my hugsband, 4 year old daughter and furbabies.
I spoke with Rebecca today at nearby Abendroth Hatchery and she was so helpful. I feel like I'm in good hands with her. Right now I'm thinking 1 Silkie, 2 Buff Orpingtons and an Easter Egger
I look forward to getting to know y'all...
See ya!

I am just south of Madison in Brooklyn/Oregon, and I can help enable you with lots of chickens!! LOL..
Just ask KristiP and Terry/TO.
Well I had an interesting day, it started with me on the phone to the Dept of Labor in ND, and ending with a phone call to an attorney in ND, then sending a strongly worded email to my former employers, that they had better start sending me my checks that are due me or its small claims court.
Then off to the hay auction with a neighbor and friend, we scored 8 huge round bales that were mistakenly being sold as "bedding", as the low bids were coming in, we were very close to the auctioneer , and a nice man behind him is pulling out handfuls of hay from the middle of the bales and he says as if trying to get the auctioneer's attention.. "THis is HAY!!"... And with a few swings of my number we got 8 round bales of hay at 25 dollars apiece!!!

Called the handy man to come haul them home, I then had to go get my truck, get gas in it, and before all of that.. stop in at the house and get the insurance on it so I can drive it.
I go and get the bale carrier back to the auction site, get back, feed the chickens, and find that I have apparently been hoarding the chicken eggs in joan's fridge. So I stop at a neighbor's place to offer them some eggs, go to start the truck.. and click, nothing, darkness. So back up to neighbor's porch, explain the situation, he very kindly offers me a ride home.
DH and I go to jump start it, the battery was apparently low, but still won't turn over...
(on a side note- my truck has a push button thingy, and a weird pin that is pushed in/pulled out to turn the electrical system off and on).
So my truck is at the neighbors til morning, my half of the bale purchase went from 4 to 2 as Joan decided to buy 2 from me and 2 from our friend and neighbor. Which is fine since I owed her back board fees.
I have to go get our nieces dog for 2 hours tomorrow since its the birthday where all her little friends come over for a "kids" party, I have to try to get my truck back to the house, and bring the rest of the eggs to those who we know want them.
The upside to this is I found another serama egg today so I will have 1 more for the incubator at KristiP's!!
