snakes so much! And turtles! Those little prehistoric beasties! But then chickens w/o feathers sure look prehistoric as well! And I was this close I tell ya to getting a tarantula in high school... so y'all really are my people :)

Now minks, I thought y'all were talking traps at first but this is mink farming? Here any mink I ever knew would gladly eat the heads of any chicken and you guys are perpetuating the species? lol Is there a dollar sign in the reason?

Terri O! Yup we's spitting distance! Waterloo! :) How neat that we're so close! What? You're talking about giving me chickens? Well gee whiz tell me more!

I was all hootin and hollarin about seeing our first red wing blackbirds of the season toooooo yesterday!

All my best, and thanks again for the warm welcome

Hi,

I slept in and definitely neened it.

Dr Ha I have 4 W/Blue wheaton Ameraunana hens, 2 EE hens and a 1 blue, 1 black and 1 barred rock. They are all laying good now. The EE rooster is very sexually active. The Ameraucana rooster is afraid of the hens. I had them together in an outside pen yesterday. All I have to do is put wire up on one 5 foot area and a little wire on top of the door on the inside and I can have them seperate. Since i have been putting that~ off!~ today is a good day to do that. Now I have a good reason to do it. :) I'm so bad. LOL Should be enough time for the swap.20 days Especially the way the EE roo is at it! You may get a few mixes but pretty certain they will mostly be pure on these breeds with EE as the father. I will update to let you know if Ameraucana becomes more brave. :)

Back to reading.

Nice pictures everybody. I ran across a few picts that were funny. May try to upload them.

just for the record ,, we are not all lizard lovers .. some of us are normal..sort of..

we are not raising mink.. we are stealing mink cages.. sort of poetic justice..
raising chickens in mink cages..

Tomski, you will have a hoot hatching quail.. I think they are the most fun of all eggs.. they hatch like popcorn going off. and quail can run almost as soon as they hatch..

I think those 1 x 1 wires would hold a full grown quail in..

Ski, that self description of you might confuse some people.. except for the part where you are standing next to your camper, that could be me you described.. except maybe you didn't go heavy enough on the good looking part..

Jim-
I'm looking forward to it... I wanna pickle the eggs for this year's Hunting Camp...LOL I have heard that once they start popping it's almost like corn! I can only hope to be so lucky!

I'm gonna have to make sure they thay are 1 x 1's - - - I'm pretty sure they were

So if I see a "pretty" boy leanin' up against the trailer with a cold beer in his hand... That's you?

nice house SF and nice fish pic Doc...it takes a while to get used to the combustion blowers, but once you get the hang of it, I think you will like it.

Good luck for those of you hatching and to those that are setting eggs tomorrow.

Been busy here lately, able to keep up with the reading though. Hope everyone is feeling better soon that is under the weather a bit.

I pickled a quart of quail eggs once.. it took 50 eggs to fill the jar.. I do not care to eat pickled eggs so I gave them to a nephew..

to peel the shells, after you boil the eggs, soak them over night in a strong vinegar water.. the shells become soft and peel very easily.. I have read this,, I have never tried it..

lllllllllllll jiminwisc llllllllll aka "pretty boy" to some

Afternoon All!
Well I'm back from my excursion with the DH and we went to a place/town called Orfordville to take a peek-see at a Bent and Dent grocery store. Kinda neat but you had to watch exp. dates.
We also went to a feed store account of his because he wanted to show me their new brooder that their local lumber company made. Man was it slick! So I ordered one and will take pics when I get it. I think I should have ordered two since we are doing another round of "Brood A Boat Load Of Chicks For Brothers" again. Luckily no ducks this year! Thank goodness! However while I won't need to brood ducks for them, the number of chicks to brood I think is about 250last I heard. I hope that number goes down.

Other then that I'm enjoying the beautiful but windy day! I feel very lucky that we have such nice weather.

OK, gotta go do something more productive then blab here.
