QUESTION
I have a question about the run, DH wants to get hay or straw to put down and I know I read somewhere that one is better than the other and why but I being old

can't remember ??????
The straw is good to help keep feet dry, but I like keeping my hens somewhat busy. The birds love eating alfalfa hay! It gives them extra protein so you can get a 16% protein and allow them free choice on the alfalfa.

DrHaHa, I continue to Lurk. My Uncle passed last week and we just wrapped up a 4 state tour to celebrate his life. Visited with my Mom in MN for a couple days, then took her and Dad along with Brothers and Sisters to SD for the memorial and IA for the burial, then back to MN for a night then home. A long and emotional week. He was not only my uncle but also a mentor.

So right now we have near 40 eggs in the incubator at work and are looking forward to hatching the quail TO sent and the 30+ barnyard mixes from the farm.

We, at home, hatched out 3 eggs this week and accidentally killed a duck in egg. We hit day 23 and I was wondering what was viable... cracked open the egg and here it is all bloody and twitching, too early! I feel so bad and guilty, it died this morning. So I put the three chicken eggs back underneath Reese's PB Cup and will wait till tomorrow to see what has happened. When should I pull the eggs?

Thanks,
KEN

I do NOT want an alpaca.... And I don't think my hubby will be falling for the dog thing for a few years, if ever again. Long story I'd rather not get into... Family party done.... Kid party tomorrow. Cleaned pretty much all day. Now will have to dig out and clean again tomorrow before the next party. It's exhausting when there are birthdays! I also felt bad for my 2 nephews and said they could sleep over. So right now we have 7 boys in the house, plus one hubby. Man I could use a shot of estrogen over here... I have to go look over my Sunday school lesson for tomorrow. Man, I will be having to get the nephews to come along too. (my sister doesn't do church or Sunday school) I told them as they were asking to sleepover "well I have to teach Sunday school tomorrow. If you stay over you have to go to Sunday school too." I thought for sure that would put them off. But they decided they "wouldn't die" if they had to go tomorrow. So bluff called, and here they are!

MLH- So what time on Monday are you picking up your chicks? I have to go and pick up the
5 - day old turkeys we are going to raise this year.

Ummm...haven't thought about it....I have the critters to take care of and then I'll be off to get the chicks. Probably around 9-9:30ish....but that is not set in stone. Why? What's up?
I'm glad your doing turkeys this year.
I have the seminar chicks to pick up and I also am getting 5 meaties for my freezer.

I have also been extremely busy with my 2 minute duty, the problem is it is taking me 30x longer to finish the 2 mins. Good cardio work though.
