H&R what kind of turkeys are you getting ?

Annie asked me today if I was going to hatch turkey eggs this year.. IDK they were so hard to get rid of last year.. maybe I will start up the bator for the foolish hatch and throw a few turkeys in.. I am getting at least 3 eggs per day.. and Tommy is really enjoying himself out there with 6 hens..

well, I have the Granny watch tonight.. better go put her to bed.. I will check in again, later..

Say incubation experts... there are 2 ( actually 3) thermometers in the hovabator ready for tomorrow.... the indoor/outdoor one that is linked to closer to the middle/top is reading 5 degrees lower than the one on the turner...which one do I really want at the 100 degrees? ( and is there a better temp, I read 99 and I read up to 101)

Hi again!!!! Just wanted to mark my place so to speak...heading out to lock up after this...looking forward to 70s tomorrow!

How is it that it snowed like crazy a week ago? That wind sure dried up some mud today...I like it a lot. When I head up to bed I will check the temp in my dry incubator. Jim says that it is better to use ONE thermometer and stick with it. That is my plan this time....I am taping the seams too. I am incubating in my son's bedroom...maybe it will have less of a temp swing in there--it is usually pretty chilly. The plants loved it this winter--except for the orchid--we lost that.
OK--out for chores--kind of wish I was easy to get my horse and go for a late night ride. I love riding in the dark...I will have to organize my stuff better so I can do that soon.

Wow, you have all been chatty today!

Ken, so terribly sorry to hear about the loss of your uncle.

We lost my favorite uncle 7 (can't believe it's been that long!) years ago. He was the rock, the foundation, of our family. Still get teary eyed thinking about it. Anyway, so sorry for the loss, glad you got to see many loved ones in your journeys, and at least you didn't lose your sense of humor.

There was so much more to say, but it's gone. Yikes! Starting to sound like ol' man Joe.

Kristip,, ONE thermostat.. pick one and stick with it.. any more than one will just confuse the issue,, one of these days I am going to take the time to explain why.. it will take a lot of typing..

maybe at the bash I will hold a seminar..but for now, just take my word for it..

Annie had to break up a rooster fight today.. one of them she put into the lean-to with the quail.. it was so worn out it just layed on it's back with his feet up.. he recovered in a few minutes..looks like I will have to get rid of about 3 Thai roosters..

the joke is on the two fighters.. neither of them are going to be chosen to live with the hens when I pen them up..

Yeah Sandi, she has about 20 donkeys of all sizes.. she is a donkey hoarder.. I don't think that she has ever sold one..

We had many snakes, lizards, rats, tarantulas etc. over the years.... My DS#1 and I can't keep up cleaning cages anymore so no cool pets now. Just the 1 painted turtle. I would like to find him a new home too.

OK, in CRS mode...I know there was more, lots more!

Been busy, the coop is finally clean!
Guess I'm not going to do the Foolish hatch... at least not the early part. I had that breeding area set up and lost a that hen and felt really bad about that for days. Finally thought I'd take another crack at it so I fixed the dangerous slats and lured "Prettyboy" in their and was going to catch the hens and put them in at night.... went to put the first hen in.... no Prettyboy!

This is the area he would trap himself in 2-3 times a week and I had to "rescue" him.... so now that I wanted him to stay there.... he figured out how to get out! So, if I want to use that space for breeding I'm going to have to do more work on it.

Got to make more room for more birds anyway! LOL Maybe a hen will go broody by then. Got one now spends all day on the nest but still goes to roost at night.

Well, guess that's it for tonight... Night all!
