Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I hear ya on the the spring rush, remember it well! Remind me to show ya the tip of my middle finger on right hand. Dad never ever said when he was gonna drop the marker.
rant.gif
Stuck my finger underneath to adjust the spacing lead. About a 500lb-er popped just like a grape and the xray showed that the bone is now forked. Feels real neat when I bump it.

Yanked it out on the bounce otherwise it would still be in the Port Edwards cemetery. Always thought of doing an appreticeship for doing the final dates. There aren't many craftsman around that do that anymore. Drive around all day checkin out the scenery, no boss. Real quiet work place.

Tomski, I will agree with you on this whole DS nonsense....... I cannot get back into the groove today. Just sittin here bein lazy with my cats.

Frenchie, found a pic for you on Pinterest....

MX, I have my own horde of critters too. If I could I would add a snake but the DH does not want to add another critter to the mix.... I would get a corn snake, raising the Boas and Pythons seems cruel to me since they will almost never reach the size they were meant to be..... plus a corn snake will never be able to eat you or your dog! ;)

Ok, time to motivate. I better get going so I can get a walk in today...... big plan is to start running tomorrow..... I hate running.

I know on the running thing! I need to get going on my couch to 10k program! I don't like running, but I like doing races. I love crossing the finish line, exhausted of course, but knowing I did it. I ran ten 5k races last year, ran/walked a 10k, and ran/walked a half marathon. May be I should nag you about your running and you should nag me about it???

Good Sunday Mornin' to ya'll

Update on the Mink Cages. Talked with my buddy and he said we can have them all (10+) - plus his neighbor has a bunch piled up that he will check on availability.

Jim if you could get your trailer over here, we could load it up for you. Personally, I'd like to only get 3 for myself. I know FT & Terry would like one each, and Unkadan want up to four. I guess if we could load up, you could charge 10 - 15 bucks apiece for them (to cover expenses...etc.) Personally, I'd like to get a nice pair of your quail...LOL for trade! LOL

Think about it and let me know - The farm is actually about 10 miles NW of here so I could me you on Hwy 41 somewhere.... We do need to get them out before more stuff gets growing up inbetween them...

Now I need to run around and set all the clocks - I hate this spring forward crap.... I like the fall where we get an extra hour! LOL
I'd take a cage. If you can get Terri hers, I could get mine from her? My hubby has put a bit of a quash on me driving all over in the 3/4 ton suburban with the gas prices as they are. But if you think they'd make a good breeding pen, I could use one. Whatcha think?

Great morning all!

dang finally feels like a spring day here,,,chickens are realllllly enjoying the sun and just a slight breeze ruffling the feathers. Good thaw in the north so far and a rain day with possible t-storms on the way to really get things done.

Joe,,,don't you dare take that bucket off yet!

Tomski,,,thanks a bunch for going to all this trouble somehow, someday, I'll getcha a pay back.

Just traded a dozen eggs for a gallon of paint to do the inside of the new brooder,,,,setting my first batch of eggs in the bater this morning so I guess my first attempt will be a bunch of egg laying mutts and hopefully some olive eggers.

only bad news around the farm is 10 minutes after I let the chickens out this morning I was turning around in the drive and saw a d%amn fisher, first here in over a year. Thought I saw some critter tracks 2 days ago but the snow was wet/soft and couldn't make out what,,,,,soooo,,,,back in the coop they went for a couple hours. Think this might involve a bit of early spring farm trapping. If it works there will defiantly be some pics.

Painting a 5x6' shack oughtta be a messy deal, better get started.

Setting the stones has to be my biggest pain - lot's of hills to go up, digging, getting rid of the sand...etc. - not to mention all the close calls with setting the lead spacers...LOL

Actually, putting the final dates on the headstones isn't hard to do at all - as long as you have the right stencils. The real pain is sitting crosslegged, hunched over, with all the protective gear on....between my belly getting in the way and the heat, then winding up the heavy hoses..etc. well, let's just say we usually stop at a store on the way home for a cold six pack! LOL

Well, i took everyone's advice and brought Stella back to the farmer where I got her from last year. He said she was lacking in protein from her behavior. I use Fleet Farm, should i switch? There is a local mill that i think will blend what you want. I add a scoop of corn and oyster shells to my feed.

Also, he has some month old wyandottes. He said he would sell me a couple of them in July. How are they for laying? Are they quiet and docile? If not does anyone have a orpington they are willing to part with?

The two i am left with, production chickens are pretty ugly without half their feathers. Hopefully, they will grow back.

First off - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Secondly, What this "I be broken?" Is it some kind of pain reliever? or - am I behind the eight ball (once again) and missing a joke? LOL

Good morning! Ditto for me on both accounts! Now that I said it though I am thinking Ibuprofen!
lau.gif
Yeah I guess we were both behind the eight ball on that one! (Still laughing!)
Sunny and very still outside today...might be a day to get the old horse out of the pasture and get the old body up on said horse! Whatcha doin' today Carol???? SHe sent me a pic of a shed this AM--first I thought it said $20---then I saw the other zero.

So I forgot it was DST today too and now I am feeling rushed cause it's almost noon and here I sit with my 2nd cuppa and still on the puter!
caf.gif
I dont feel as tired as the little yellow guy in the pic though....
Just have to tell ya that Tommy the house roo also enjoys wine! I had him on my lap last night and when I went for a sip of wine his head popped up and he was going right for the glass! Now I did not teach him this! I think I am really liking this chicken....he hasnt pooed on me at all either...when I put him down he goes. (for those of yo interested in that fact) and I didnt teach him that either! I continue to be worried about his crop however...it does not empty overnight--and I took his food up last night.
Oh one more thing...I forgot to copy DrH's message about buying the valley and having a commune of friends...WHO'S idea was it? OK--maybe we thought of it at the same time....LOL--getting excited to see you all again at the bash! Getting dressed now and getting OUTSIDE!

Have a fantastic day! TErri O

I be broken ibuprofin ? at least that is what I cam e up with..

You do realize that adding other grains to a protein feed could lower the protein %. chickens do not NEED treats.. it is just for our pleasure to watch them go nuts over them..

I think the Fleet&Farm feed is OK..

I had a new egg in the Barred Rock pen today.. so maybe , finally , they are going to start laying. it is just a week since I started them on the laying formula.. I expected sooner results, but a week is not too bad, I guess..

The Dels are giving me just one egg per day, yet.. hope they start soon too.. the egg I get from them is noticeably larger than the Bar Rocks.

Annie told me she just flipped the breaker off for the sun porch.. It is about 90*F out there with the sun coming in..
