Oh my goodness, what a beautiful day! Didn't get a thing outside done, but I did get outside to enjoy the sunshine a little after work.
I guess DH wants to get rid of the last of his quail. After butchering the majority of them last fall, he decided that they're too much work for too little meat. Mostly because he thought he could pluck them in his home-made plucker and ruined a bunch of them - I don't even want to go there...
So, we have a dozen year-old Jumbo Coturnix, Tuxedo's, and Texas A&M (Whites) that he held back for breeding this year if anyone wants them. If not, they're going on CL. I have no idea what male/female ratio he kept, but I can tell you that I don't hear many males in there. No eggs yet either though...
So, we're starting to think about how we're going to move all the birds to the new property next weekend. I want to take all the birds from their pens and transport them in crates/boxes in the car, while someone else hauls their pens on a trailer. We get there, set the pens back up, and put the birds back in them. DH think's it'll be easier to load the entire raised pens, birds and all, onto a trailer and move them
while they're still inside their pens.
Granted, it's only a 3 mile drive on backroads. But, still. Loading the pens on and off a trailer with the birds in them sounds a whole heck of a lot more stressful, on me AND on the birds. Every man we've talked to about it agrees with him. Every woman we've talked to about it agrees with me. We're doing it my way, regardless.
