Got everything done that I wanted and the kids are on the way. Gonna teach DD how to make pig ribs the right way. She asked the other day how to make a big ham. Asked if she had a cook book and could read? If not get the beau to read it to her. I'm so mean!

TO that cochin is really cute. I had that problem with the crop last summer on a couple. Could it be sour crop? Just wondering. Iyou been at this a lot longer than I have, but just wondering. It was the samt thing with mine, birds that were being bullied and then I think they must have started eating dirt or something because they were being bullied so much and couldnt or were afraid to get to the feed.

Yeah Sandi, she has about 20 donkeys of all sizes.. she is a donkey hoarder.. I don't think that she has ever sold one..

Do you know if she has any spotted ones? Do you think she would sell? I'd really like to find them a nice donkey at a good price.

Hey let me know when you are going to Tomski's I can meet up with ya and maybe drive along !! That would be a riot !!! LOL

I'm giving away a bantam faverolles rooster. He's very sweet, the kids handle him all the time. Unfortunately he has a slight cross beak and cannot close it. He eats and gets along fine. I've never done anything special for him. If anyone is interested I would sell a bantam cochin or bantam salmon favorelles hen with him.

You wouldn't want to breed that roo though in case it is a heredity problem. At least that is what they say about silkies with crossed beaks. It could just be from incubating but you never know.
Is the hen related ?

Jeeze - what a beautiful day....

Think I'll throw some High Speed Beef (Venison) Loins on the grill - - If only the Morel mushrooms were out, life would be perfect. Have to settle with some store bought Shitaki's, onions and fresh garlic sprouts.... Every time I burp tomorrow, I'm gonna make myself hungry!

Oh my goodness, what a beautiful day! Didn't get a thing outside done, but I did get outside to enjoy the sunshine a little after work.

I guess DH wants to get rid of the last of his quail. After butchering the majority of them last fall, he decided that they're too much work for too little meat. Mostly because he thought he could pluck them in his home-made plucker and ruined a bunch of them - I don't even want to go there...

So, we have a dozen year-old Jumbo Coturnix, Tuxedo's, and Texas A&M (Whites) that he held back for breeding this year if anyone wants them. If not, they're going on CL. I have no idea what male/female ratio he kept, but I can tell you that I don't hear many males in there. No eggs yet either though...

So, we're starting to think about how we're going to move all the birds to the new property next weekend. I want to take all the birds from their pens and transport them in crates/boxes in the car, while someone else hauls their pens on a trailer. We get there, set the pens back up, and put the birds back in them. DH think's it'll be easier to load the entire raised pens, birds and all, onto a trailer and move them while they're still inside their pens.

Granted, it's only a 3 mile drive on backroads. But, still. Loading the pens on and off a trailer with the birds in them sounds a whole heck of a lot more stressful, on me AND on the birds. Every man we've talked to about it agrees with him. Every woman we've talked to about it agrees with me. We're doing it my way, regardless.
