Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I am gramma sitting for awhile.. Annie went to town.. I picked up 700 pounds of corn&oats, 100 pounds of chick starter/grower and 10 pounds of buckwheat seed.. feed went up again..

I made a path over the mud with two scoops of wood chips.. per special request from Annie..

the chicks are enjoying their first dose of sunlight.. they have discovered the roosts in the breeder pen.. to them it is more like a boardwalk than a roost.. some of them are actually looking like barocks.. the Delawares seem to be larger, as a whole..

I decided to keep them all until I can tell the roos from the pullets.. then sell the pullets as POL's.
the roos will be butchered at fryer size.. unless by some quirk of fate I can sell them..

I think the dogs are finally through barking at the neighbor's new horse.. they can see it across the field.. It looks like a quarter horse from here.. not real tall.. I will check it out closer in a few days..

I will be going to Tomah on July 10 to have my shoulder X-rayed. The VA might do some therapy to me.. I told them no to surgery.. by the time I would heal from the surgery, I would be too old to use the shoulder anyhow..

the piece of rhubarb pie I had for breakfast is about all worn off.. I better go fix some lunch..

Back from the Vet (well, I did some shopping after I was done so actually I finished with the vet at around 10 this morning....) they ran another glucose test on Fattie, the first one was over 400 (Sat.), todays was over 200.... so they decided to check his urine for sugar and keytones. Surprise! It was loaded with sugar!!! Since he is severely dehydrated, they are keeping him today and possibly overnight to get his fluid level up and flush all those excess liver enzymes from his system. He is still not out of the woods, but at least we can do something about his situation right now. The odd mass in his belly could be an inflamed pancreas or an inflamed adrenal gland, or of course the old stand-by a tumor. Just waiting now which is far worse for me since I cannot monitor his condition......

Taffy decided to start setting today. So now I have three ducks on nests two weeks off from each other! Looking at them in their house makes me think of the old Warner Brother's cartoons with all the chickens sitting on their eggs knitting.....

Off to start a pork roast for my DH. He just loves roast pork with mashed potatoes and gravy...... I should run and get some fresh asparagus too....

Evening all!
The Chickens and Rabbits are all good and Kiwi-Rabbit's eye is much better. I think he had something in it. He is such a love.....*sigh*.
Ben was a good rooster today, followed me but decided to be good and not all stupid...I got three eggs today. The RO's and Midges. Valerie took the day off.
Went to the gun shop and got targets and eye and ear wear. DH and I are sighting in some guns either Wednesday or Thursday. I hope Wednesday. I have my yearly eye exam on Thursday...
Man I wish I could afford Lasik....Someday....

BL4-Hope Fat Cat responds well to treatment. Poor kitty...He is in good hands though and they will take good care of him for you.

Well, I need to check my email...later!

Lasik creeps me out! I would love to wake up in the morning and be able to see. But nobody is going to be poking around in my eye. A friend had it done and said everything goes black for a while during the procedure. Eek!

Good evening! Just finished dinner...Enchilada casserole with a fresh picked salad. MMMMM! Now DH is "stealing" MY raspberry vinaigrette! Sheesh, cant even have my own dressing! SO the casserole was good...I made it up. I looked up how to make HM enchilada sauce and I had already put all those spices in the meat and veggie part so I just used tomato sauce. Tasted just like enchiladas! The only thing I forgot (and I kept saying it to myself) was the black beans! I so wanted to add them...I think I spaced it when I had to go down and get the "3 cheese Mexican" cheese...It was good without them anyhow. DD will like them better too cause she doesnt care much for black beans. (weirdo)

THe cable guy showed up right as I got home from work. Yes, it is NOT a wive's tale that you should unplug stuff during a T-storm!

I WIN again!

It did something to the cable box so we needed a new one. The even better thing is that he fixed the music on cable that the last guy couldnt fix! So now I am listening to "Sounds of the Season" and it is all weird music that sounds like soundtracks from movies. But I like it. Of course DH says it is a huge energy drain using the TV to listen to music...like having the hot water heater on 10,000 degrees isnt?

Well it sure was nice last night having the chores done before dark...so nice I think I am going to do it again tonight!
MXM--I hopw you got your chicks tonight!
BL4--try not to worry about your cat if he stays over at the vet's...I know that is hard to do--been there done that...lots of times unfortunately!
Yooper...I cant recall your name right now...are you coming to the bash?
If you want a mulberry tree please pm me. I dont want to have to dig extras...they are kinda hard to get out! I have 2 containers of Ajuga, a silver maple and a couple containers of ferns...anyone want Chinese Limelight? Very pretty and very invasive! Great to cover up problem parts in sun or shade! I have Lily of the Valley too...lots of other perennials...just ask--they probably need dividing!

Sweet dreams all! Terri O
