Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey Jim, can't you get a new shaft, like you wanted, online somewhere? DH sometimes orders from here:

http://www.steinertractor.com/default
no CC, this shaft is one of a kind.. I built the hydraulic system for this tractor and the shaft is custom made.

gut thanks for the link.. I will go through it for engine parts

and No DrH, there is no old shaft.. they reworked the shaft and made it longer,, hence my comment "cobbled" .. A-holes.. the short one wouldn't have worked as a spare anyhow..

And, I am back.. the phone is going nuts today.. I am glad Annie is here to grab it..

TerriO, I hear ya about the flies.. Trivia : did you know the fly swatter is just one inch too short to hit a fly on your toe? and too long to hit a fly on your chest ?

people, your chickens are going to bed earlier because the days are getting shorter.. they don't go by our time schedule,, they go according to dusk ..

TerriO is right about the guinea.. one starts missing curfew and soon they are all doing it..

Have a lot to do today.. company coming for the weekend.. ( good type company ) ..

I am astounded that this picture came up. I have been battling with my computer for 2~3 days in order to post pictures. It seems they want you to do a lot of modifying programs.

Anyway I have to get ready for the sale tomorrow(sort and blood test) and be up there at about 5am to be sure I have the best chance of selling my birds.

LOL Jim, Good Type company ...Hope you still think so after putting up with us for a whole weekend hehehe
Hello all been busy as usual and we are just getting ready to pack up the car to go visit Jim and hopefully persuade that darn tractor to work so he can get his work done...
We need a vacation anyway, Waiting on my DIL to come pick up the grandson, and doing some last minute gardening some things just wont wait till Sunday, Beans are going nuts and I hope that's 1 thing Jim don't have in the garden, because I'm having to bring them along to eat up or maybe Annie will want to can some... geez these things are prolific, first year planting the Heirloom Dragons Tongue, bush beans, I made a big pot of soup outa the last pick and they are awesome, also have some delicious Peppers this year also quite hardy......... my garden has gone insane since we been getting some rain, maybe it don't like our well water huh? Any will yak to everyone later Jim can keep everyone posted on the tractor progress, as we go. Talk to everyone Sunday Have a great weekend all.
AND sorry if I missed any newbies and good stuff.
I have not had time to catch up on the 300 posts I'm behind.......... Kim
So hello and welcome if I missed you..........

Headed up North soon, and will take along 10 of my keets to a gal in Rhinelander... she is also taking my Brahma Bantam rooster and Wyandotte (sex is undetermined at this time.) Both are only 2 months old.
Cutting back for winter.. that chicken math always sneaks up on you in the spring and then by fall I'm standing there scratching my head wondering why my coop is way to full
tongue.png

With the price of feed I'm gonna have to put them to work pretty soon...

Am keeping 4 keets, and have 3 keenagers in another coop also, that brings my guinea flock up to 15. My ideal number is 10, but you know how that goes... all of a sudden one is missing or laying dead on the road... which is gonna happen to my purple female and her mate if they don't stay home... that couple are my "wanderers", and I think she is sterile, I haven't gotten any eggs from her that I know of, and would of thought out of the 40+ keets I hatched this year I would of gotten at least one purple.

Here is the wyandotte I'm unsure of, never had one before... any guesses on the sex? Have a good weekend everyone...

I've noticed my chooks going in earlier too-and WHEN IT STILL LIGHT OUT..WTH??? There is always the one or twot hat hang around till dusk to play though.

So I realize I lost my post yesterday....Questions for those with Lavender Orps: At what age do you know for sure if male/female? Or when do the ccokerals finally start crowing? At what age will you have a pretty good idea on their temperment? I have 13 & 16 wk old LOs...and I know the 16 wk old is male...still guessing on the 13 wk olds.

Whats your experience with Lav Orps and EE'r as to what age they start laying?

BigZio: Happy Belated Birthday!!! (Still playing catch up on old posts!!)

BBP: So you butcgered a LO? It wasnt your one main LO was it? Did you find homes for all your cockerals? What did the nail place say about the chicken?

Whew way confused after reading.

Jim thought you said something about the price of a new shaft compaired to the fix thought you were getting a new one too. My bad! As far as the kids going to bed yes I know the days are shorter but they have been in at least a half an hour before sundown. tiki looks like a very proud blue ribbon winner! Congrats to him and you! vic I guess I don't have the time for the dance of haggling, just wastes my time. Ooodles of noodles are cooling and very delish! Heading to the garden again.

I was noticing the early bed times too. interesting

Say... my broody's egg finally hatched but did not make it. Egg was not broken or peeping last night, but by 10 am it was dead and I was not smart enough to put more than 1 egg in with her. I took all eggs away from her, but she is still sitting, next is a dip in some cool water tomorrow if she is still there.
Do you think if she is desperate for babies that she would take a 2-3 week old? Carol has 2 of mine that are that age... just thinking...

Hey there

Thanks DrHa, Vick, and cind and..

Jim I found some mink cages in an old barn that I went to this afternoon. About 10 years of ol spider webs on them. LOL The guy says I can clean them there and buy for real cheap. Yeay. Still working on my computer to update so I can upload pictures.

Amberflea I can't see very good. If the tail on the dotte is black than it would be a male. Females will be red/brown with the patterned all over their body.(tried to upload pict but didnt work) And the males will get the black tail with green sheen and the neck will be more black and greenlI think its a girl unless the tail is black. My eyesight just isnt that good. If there is anything on it that is not red/brown and patterned it is probably a boy. How old?

I have never heard of a mean Orp but then what do I know? LOL It seems they take forever to mayure. 6 months? Laying at 8 months.
