Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

BigFam you ARE addicted to men! You have 6 running around your house!

I was lazy today, I sat around until after 10 before I started working on the room. Painted the trim and then moved the daybed components into the room..... but of COURSE since I bought the d@mn bed 2 years ago the friggin hardware was NOT with the bed any longer!

my mom JUST happens to have a daybed so I went to her house and stole the hardware from her

(she said I could). So I now have two very nice bedrooms, and more bruises from moving furniture that I did when I ran the Dirty Girl (and of course #2 is this weekend).

I should get to bed. Two nights in a row going to sleep after 1 is really going to mess with me on Wed. morning when I have to be up by 6.

Ciao!

Hi all!

I have been reading but don't trust this thing enough to try to do the split windows or go back to refresh my memory!

Doesn't sound like anyone world is falling apart right now, so that's good! Just the usual "bumps" in life.
Young son replaced the thermocouple (in the water heater) a couple of days ago but it still is not lighting on it's own, So anything that involves hot water, must be planed like, 2 hours in advance! Got jack-sh!t done in the coop the last few days...GOT TO, GOT TO , GOT TO...move birds around! Those poor hens have no peace!

Bl4... when ever we take a piece of furniture apart, we but all the hardware in a bag and tape it, tie it or rubberband it right to a piece of it. Almost never lost any! Even when moving several times or things that were stored for a long time.I'm also a "saver" and when something "bites the dust" I often save bolts, screws. knobs or other pieces that have come in handy.

CC.... Sounds like you out did me again the last few days! I was so looking forward to working outside the last few days but seems like I kept hitting brick walls! Well, still have some nice days coming!
hu.gif
If you want to pull out and get rid of some yarrow I would take some! Even if you could just bag me some seeds.I'll pay postage of course.Just make sure it's not queen Ann's lace.... that I have plenty of!!!

CS... check your E-mail... I sent more listings.

Ok, I think I'm done ... CRS at work!.... Night All!

MORNING, MORNING, MORNING

Nothin' new. Still on Broody Butt watch. Oh did I ever mention that I finally figured out why a Black Star went broody? Been able to handle her a lot since she went to brooding and actually took a close look at her. She went broody because she comes from the mother of all broody birds, she's not a really dark Black Star, she's an Aussie, duhhhh,
th.gif
. Finally remembered this guy did say that MOST of his first batch (the supposedly 18 month olds) were from Sunnyside. I also seriously doubt he was able to keep his first and 2nd batch totally from mixing by accident. (the 2nd batch-younger-was a real mix, some from a kid after his 4-H was over, some from MN, etc.). By the time I had my coop ready, he only had a few left out of over 400 total. I my defense, they were in such rough shape with so many feathers missing, etc. it was all guess work. After someone here (dr. haha?) identified sunnysides "special blacks" as Black Stars, just assumed that's what they all were. Still have 2 (incl. broody butt) that are just finally beginning to grow tail feathers. So, I now have no real clue how old my Broody Butt really is and I can assume she will go broody on me again next year. Next time I will be ready for her! (Already cruisin' and dreamin' thru the catalogs at eggs) I really hope these eggs hatch so I can find out if she is going to be a good momma too. Yes, I actually am happy to find out she is an Aussie. Crazy I know. What can I say?

OOPS~forgot to mention, TO! I loved your story! Where are pics when you really want them? Brought me back to younger days with my Tennessee Walker. I really miss that big ugly, loveable, horse sometimes.

Good Morning Everybody! TO what a saga! Just glad things worked out! Jim your not going to know that tractor anymore. Just think of the power it will have. Was thinking about making wood soon and remembered the gas tank on the Case leaks. It was fiber glassed on the bottom years ago. so taking that off today and doing it right. Can't see any major holes from the inside hopeing for a pin hole.
fl.gif
Not even going to look at the garden today. Well maybe tonight.
roll.png
Cind hope you get the water heater fixed! Maybe igniter or the valve? Oldest DD E'd me and said her mom is coming for a visit and she wants pickles!

Good morning--slow start today again...I must have twisted my back "helping" my client yesterday! I aure hope our long ride today takes care of it...maybe I should bring the smaller horse? I hope the guy with the walkers is there so he can give me some pointers...Commander seems to pace more than true walking.

DrH--I think you should give the mother some unpickled pickles...then she can make them herself and share the joy! Well, unless you have way more made than you need that is....hardly seems possible though!
CC--I too would take some yarrow! I had red and yellow for the longest time but when they widened the road all the gravel they spewed on top of it did it in! I did get my pixie lilies planted last night (finally) and MORE coneflower and also the yellow variety (black eyes susan?) I cannot grow that to save my soul! I wanted to get the new herbs in (we are running out of time here folks!) but that part of the garden is totally weedy now so I need to start over AGAIN!!! The weeds sure did a nice job in the drought didnt they? I swear the roots are 4' long!

On the chicken front: I figured out what was making them alarm in the side yard! There is a woodchick that has a hole up near the telephone pole and he goes down to the woodpile where the chickens like to hang out. He was eating pears yesterday afternoon and I got a glimpse of him.
I am sad to report that the broody did not mine the poult well...I found it dead in the enclosure yesterday. :( One egg did not hatch and I have no idea where the other two went! Not a shell left behind!

Well, I better load up the horse and git. The forest is calling! Later gators and have a good one! Terri O--hopinghorseridingcuresbackaches (you are right Jim...this is a fun way to sign off!)

ETA: Vicki--Aussies are the best! Especially if they are a cross--those are some of my BEST mamas!

Aw crap! I snipped off the seed heads & threw them on the compost pile. I'll go see if I can salvage them. Cind, you might have to re-PM me your addy. Your post made me chuckle. It isn't Queen Anne's lace or wild carrot either. The flowers are yellow, and the flower heads are much larger & more compacted. The plants get so darn big & heavy that they flop onto my other flowers.

Terri, send me your addy too please. Yes, the yellow coneflowers are black eyed susans. I just love them! But for some reason they won't grow here either. When I lived in Milw. I had the biggest, most beautiful flower bed just loaded with them.

No such luck here.

DrH, good luck with the leak.

Vick, Aussies are wonderful birds!

good AM, first cuppa is almost gone and the bottom is cold..
sweet corn needs cooler temps to turn the starches into sugar.. so it is all this heat that is messing with you guys/gals..

Dr H, there is a product that you can buy that fixes gas tanks from the inside.. I know that Yesterday Tractor has it.. you get a cleaner, etching fluid , and then you pour in the solution and it coats the inside of the tank.. It says it will cure a 12 gallon tank..

Kim, this place I am taking the head has been around longer than I have.. I checked with Jim. he no longer has his ring compressor or a hone.. I have other sources to check with.. Russell has all sorts of tools.. and then there is the old grump Gene to try as a last resort..

Marlene's eggs are not hatching very great.. I think her roosters fight too much..

the cockatiels are sitting on another 3 eggs.. prolific little bass turds aren't they ?

Now Annie went and picked up two pairs of parakeets.. she sure is getting into those birds..
she has 3 pairs of cockatiels now, too.. and one male to spare.. I think she will find him a mate soon.. I told her that we can sell all the outside birds and convert the insulated chicken coop into her aviary ..

Morning all!
Finally all caught up! Kept meaning to get over here to stop by and chat but just never seemed to be able to! So, when I left you all last it was Sat afternoon! So that night I was planning on making Mac & Cheese for dinner but instead ended up eating a pretzel from Kwik Trip. Why you might ask? Because I was in the ER. Nothing dire but I had (and still have) a swelling on my elbow that was getting worse as the hours dragged on. My elbow itched last week and I thought nothing of it since I had cleaned out the garage and thought I got a spider bite. The elbow stopped itching and then a day or so later it started to get sore on Friday. Saturday rolls around and it's still sore but not overly so and by Sat afternoon it got all hot, swollen, even more sore, and painful to the touch. The Doc but me on some antibiotics and gave me a tetanus shot. Told me to keep and eye on it and if the swelling gets more generalized then I might have to have the swelling aspirated to see if it's an abscess. Yeah....
So now, my foot is still sore from a week ago, my elbow still hurts and my arm is sore from the shot....Geez....I think I want a do over card for the month of August.....

Other then that, the Girls are great! I do have one BO pullet that is not doing so good though. She is really thin and shaking her head and wobbly last night. So, I gave her a shot of Oxy-Tet and will see how she goes. She is the only one who looks unthrifty and pale so I'm wondering if she has an issue of some sore that is just her. If she does not perk up today, I'll set the brooder tank up and grab her and buddy for her and giver her some extra treatment. Hope she pulls out of it. She's a sweet little thing.

Can't remember much from having to read 10 pages but here it goes:
Raiq (I think!)-Congrats on the baby! Hope you get your Girl...

Ang- those look all rooster ish to me

Big Fam-Glad you had fun at the reunion and a 10/22 is a good choice for what you want. I was thinking a .22 would be just the ticket for your needs.
Since your Dh is a beginner, I highly recommend that you guys take some gun safety classes. They are a good starting point in learning the correct and responsible ways of gun ownership.

TO- With a left handed pistol the barrel falls down on the right side of the gun not the left. I have not seen any left handed rifles, but I have not looked. I'm sure they are out there. I think DH got to use some when he was in the Coast Guard.

Well, best get going...need to vacuum and do some chores...
