Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Jim the tank comes out easy enough, gas line and 2 nuts on the straps. It wasn't fiber glassed as I thought it was some kind of epoxy and it was pretty much seperated from the metal which is in amazing conditon. It has been soldered in spots and suspect it's a pin hole. I used JB weld on it after a good cleaning and drying. Did just spots on the btoom that were suspect and only saw one spot that actually had moisture on it and don't think that was the problem. I'll let it dry and check it tomorrow then fill the tank half way and repeat if necessary. Think it could have been just the hose at the tank it had a squeeze type clamp on it but couldn't tell if the leak was there or not and it wouldn't explain why the epoxy had seperated. Will know more tomorrow. Yup TO "mom" will be getting some too. She's the good ex not the bad ex. None for the bad ex. Had 24 qts guess I'll be making more so we don't run out again. Sorry to hear about your losses!

Hi, folks,
Today is Election Day Primaries - hope you all get out to vote! Might want to check online or call your City Clerk to find out where you're supposed to vote today in case your polling place has changed. With all the redistricting, they are anticipating a bunch of people going to their old polling place instead of the newly assigned one and it can be a problem if you try to vote later in the evening and don't have time to race to the new place... Just a heads up! (And if you don't vote today, make sure you go to the right place come November!!)

Hey, CC, are you sure what you have is yarrow and not tansy? I've never seen yarrow flop but have seen tansy flop because their flowers are substantially bigger and heavier than yarrow... I think tansy is known for being more invasive than yarrow? Trivia: did you know you can use yarrow as a mosquito/bug repellant? Just grab a bunch and rub it on where you want some bug repellant. It works! Not as long as chemicals, obviously, but it's nice to have this option if you're outside working and need some repellant but don't want to spray on chemicals. (Although if I'm going to be outside for any length of time and the mosquitoes are bad I take a fan outside to blow on me. It's a PIA but beats being bit and I avoid chemical sprays if I can!)

Not much new on this end. Reworking a bed in my front yard and it's been nice to have nice weather to do it in! Trying to figure out where to plant my plants from Shopko's clearance - counted my baby arborvitae that I bought for $1.19 ea. and whoops, I bought 23 (for the price of 2!!) I have plenty of fence line to use them at - just might have to buy more rabbit fencing to protect them from the critters....

Well, that's all for now. Have to jump in the shower, go vote and then be an "election official" (work at the polling place) 'til it closes and we get all the paperwork done. Enjoy the day!

Elaine...I have been waiting for Shopko clearance to do better. I always buy great plants at the end of the season, but things are still around $5 a plant in Madison. Grr. I am finally able to get out and weed some beds and dig out old dead plants and want to put some new ones in. Got some big rose bushes at Mendards that are gorgeous. Now need to find time to put them in. 3 weeks from today is when kids are back to school so some sanity will come after that. Thank goodness!

RaQ... here is to hoping it is your little girl.
Jim... glad no kid references while discussing guns... lol

Hope everyone else is good at this point. I need to get out to the coop later with my camera and take some pics of my 6 week old cockoo marans and marans/dom cross. They both have nice combs, but the Dom cross really has some pink to the comb that is making me think rooster. Lets hope the other marans is a hen. I can use another standard size bird.

I am 6 pages behind.

Need to read that later. I have been fighting with my computer to get my original settings back after I tried updating so I could post pictures. Well now at least I am back where I started.

I am so so sad. I found my prettiest bestest Modern Game Hen dead this morning in the coop. She was the best mother of all. I am possitive it was the cockerels that killed her. I still have too many cockerels. I am so mad at them. And myself. I kept 2 of her babies so I have a female that looks like her but I will greatly miss that little bird.

Getting ready for the Ordinance meeting tonight. Checkers is back home for the afternoon, he took a bath, got his feathers in proper order and is now walking around the yard calling for his girls.... it is sort of sad to watch. I am sitting outside with him keeping him company so he can relax a bit. It took him a little while to re-orient himself to his surroundings. I guess he did not like the 30 min car ride!

I am getting nervous about this meeting...... I have no idea what I am going to say or what questions they might have. Prepare, prepare, prepare I guess!

Evening To All...Good Luck bl4..if anyone is gonna convince the wega heads it's you! If you hung around me awhile...Id show you the true meaning of lazy...

Don't think the poultry cal would work with pellets...kinda like adding sand to the pellets....better off with the oyster shells fed in a seperate feeder....they will eat them when they need them....really they will....a bag lasts a long time.

T0..what's a woodchick? LOL!

Yep, I agree with Doc on the auto's....with the good makes like the S&W M&P for example you can change the mag release to the other side for left handed folks...just sayin too.

Busy in the gardens today, and prolly tomorrow and the next day....

Hope you get the hot water figured out in a cheap way cind.

I could use a good worker like you CC...we could take beer breaks often....that's where I would be anyway...better hurry up before the 2012 is all gone.

Have Fun...yep we voted this morning.... bigz

So anyone on here have Phoenix's? I just got 5 pullets. Just at POL. Got two tiny eggs this morning. I had heard they aren't good in the cold. Is there any special treatment they should get to help them in the winter? Or should they be fine in the coop? I have a fairly large coop. Easily holds 30 hens. I could get a lamp down there if need be. And also, do they really only lay once a week? Haha. Thanks guys
