Evening All...nice pics everyone, thanks for sharing them. Those chick-a dees sure are friendly. I love their company while hunting and sitting still...cool pic for sure.

Just fired the grill for venzun loins, purple peppers, onions, baked spuds, and creamed green beans..that should be enough.

The circle of life has been a harsh one this summer for alot of good folks. We lost a 7 year old light brahma to a bald eagle today...first time i lost a brahma to a predator...they are huge birds and aren't usually a target...it was ennie...the last of ennie, meaney, and meinie...they were the young ones from bigzio...4 sisters left to bigzio ...just chickens I know....still bummed some.

Nilla coke and whiskey...a stiff one tonight...maybe two.

Have Fun...Be Safe..bigz

That's what I do to!!! Good to have a confirmation like this from you CC and all you knowledgeable chickie folks! First purchase I made when I got my girls was a gallon of Oxine. A little costly up front but it should last a most of a year.

Bigzio~an eagle, really? Wow. Didn't think they would go after the big birds. So sorry. Have an extra sip for me.

Just had a nice rain shower and now a rainbow. Hubby got the riblets and fresh dug YG potatoes off the grill just in time! Had a tipping of frost on the gardens away from the house (had the toms and stuff covered). It's ok, it was time to start picking the pumpkins and diggin' the taters anyway. Have some decisions to make before tomorrow night since we will probably get hit again.

Hi all---really tired here! Had a nice visit with Amy and Julie yesterday and this morning. Then they went back to the Horse thing in Madison ans the girls and I went to a horseshow in Belleville. Taylor did well, 2 each of firsts, seconds and thirds. This was on the horse that she trained herself. I am proud of her for sure!

This was his first hunter show. I am glad to be home though, the traffic was not great; there is also something going on in Watertown or somewhere near; our road has been crazy busy tonite! I can hear the music from Milford too...it is "Gator Fest" down at Crawfish Junction--should be able to hear it all night!
THe quail hatched in the bator yesterday! I am floored cause I had that temp spike to 104 and then it was down and up and down and up again to 102 the day before the hatch! I think I got 10 quail though so that's not too bad. I will cull one for sure because the legs are very twisted. THere is a splayed leg on too and I think I will try to hobble it...they are SO small though!

OK--got it hobbled and it is figuring it out already! Smart little buggers! Made myself some scrambled eggs iwth cheese and tomatoes for supper--kids went to the truck stop and I didnt want to trust it!
Have a fantastic night!

good aft, just came in and read 3 pages of posts..
Nothing new here.. I am working on the tractor, so that is all I can write about..

You can hose the inside of the coop.. It is amazing, but it does not stay wet that long.. I was going to pressure wash the main coop, but my washer went kaput.. I have been known to sprinkle the floor to keep the dust down..

I cleaned the dash and the battery compartment today.. was that a mess.. but I found out that a good wire brush in the drill works better than any solvent.. It even removes paint quite easily..

I made a late trip to F&F to get four cans of paint.. I bought some Oliver green for the parts that I am going to leave green.. I just painted over the old paint.. mainly to get it all the same shade of green..and to cover up all the nicks and dings.. All the formerly gold colored pieces are now white.. better contrast, just in case DrH comes to check it out..

I did not put the peachicks out today.. It was just a bit on the cool side and I did not trust them to be smart enough to go under the brooder..

I compared the thickness of the new clutch plate with the old one.. I cannot see any difference.. Adam, do you think maybe the pressure plate is the problem ? I hope not.. BIG $$$ for a new one..

You can let the clucks out in just about any temperature with her little ones.. she will see to it that the chicks stay warm.. I had chicks running around with the clucks when it was only 40F.

I must be tired, my brain is skipping from one subject to another..

the peanut butter did not catch anything in the trap.. might not be a rat I am after.. I will change the bait to meat..

we had rain today.. only about 40 drops to the acre,though..

Adam said not sure on that one, it could be any of the main components, could even be in the ajusters, when he does clutch work usually he changes both then adjusts as needed, and he thinks my Pickup set came together for 1 price................ What year is it again a 50 or a 55? and what is the model? I'll see what I can find on here about it..........Maybe theres a sure fire way to tell out there somewhere...... Kim

Hi Kim, it is a 1955 oliver super 55 serial number 23600 or close to that.. It is before the serial number break. I know the pressure plate is about $235oo or so...

I am taking the crank in on monday to get it checked out.. if it has to be worked on we probably won't get it back before friday.. I will let you know..

Yes I got dirty. I am in the middle.

Will get back to all of you later.... Dr. H, more

Yay Terri, Taylor did great! Bet she's glad she found the Coggins.

She looks very nice on a horse. Thanks again for putting up me and Julie, your coffee this morning hit the spot. We got kinda screwed today with the horse fair events; we bought our tickets for riding a reiner, then they said we needed boots to ride, no tennies allowed. That rule wasn't in place yesterday.
hmm.png
So we turned those in and tried to do the cart driving instead; we tried to do it after 2 clinics in the morning, and squeeze it in before we had to go home at 2:30, but the beotchy woman in charge of that was resting her horses and wouldn't even let us put our names on the list to go next. She really ticked Julie off! So back to the ticket booth to explain the situation, and that gal shook her head and said they've had nothing but problems with that group and they would NOT be invited back ever again. They were supposed to be doing drives all day, and we never saw anybody doing it the whole weekend! But overall we had a great time, the jousting was awesome last night, and we saw a few barrel runs today. Oh, and MLH's DH was there and was kind enough to give us some bags of Nutrena and we met Elvis!!!

Jousting. I guess these guys have their own show on the history channel. Those are huge draft horses, FT would swoon. Sorry, no kilts, BigFam, just bona fide 150-lb suits of armor.
ep.gif
We saw at least 3 spills, and they sure go down hard, ouch. And then just lay there until someone can help them get up!

And then teaching clinics was this spectacular fellow, Dan James....expert horse trainer, Australian, and dreamy as all get-out - Lord have mercy! As Julie said, a trifecta!
