Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I could use a foot warmer about now. Wow, it is cold in this house! The weathermen sure were wrong about today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Frenchie, if you absolutely have to have Cody, you could use my addy.

Bigfam, great news on Haldon & the pups. I hope that will all work out.

Terri, I was gonna say something, but now CRS............

Oh yeah. CONGRATS DrH on the smittens!!!!!!!! You will not regret that decision, in the long run.

No, honestly, you will never regret having sibling kitties. Ever. They are the best. I knew you could do it!

So Cind, I never asked. You have someone looking at the girl with the white stache? I saw you posted that someone was interested in her?

Speaking of which, at least 2 of mine are giving me the "I'm ravenous. Feed me" look.

Guess that's all. Like Cind, I've been crazy tired since the time change & crappy weather lately. So sweet dreams, all!

Hi ALL!

DrH.... The boys will not let you down! They are eating kitten chow and still learning about the litter box. With 2 they will play with each other and leave Taz alone (pretty much) but will be around when she is ready for them. It will take awhile for her to accept them.... they are invading her territory... but all will be fine. Good news on the hearing test!

CC.... Neil has to talk to his friends about the other 2 but I will let you know.

Amy... I'm with you on the insurance thing.... How do they think that people who don't have health insurance can come up with the extra bucks to buy it just because "they" say so? Chances are very, very high that if you don't have it it's because you can't afford it! If you can't afford it, how are you going to pay the penalty? Stupid, stupid, stupid!

H&R... Glad your dad is doing better!

TO.... I'm sure we all wish we could figure out what's wrong with your flock. Wow, whatever it is, hope it doesn't spread! Keep Tommy safe and healthy! I wouldn't even go near him after I was with the other birds until I washed up and changed clothes. Scary not knowing what it is.

Bf4m.... Glad you found a good match for Halden. Hope DH realizes it. Sorry about you hen.

FT... Hope you get everything straightened out.... seems like a screwy deal with the insurance. Good luck on getting Codey... Hope all goes well with ET!

GR... Glad you hen is doing better.... amazing how they can heal!

Jim..... Boo! I see you!

Nothing new.... got feed but no luck on the straw.... I'll try again somewhere else.
Night All!

good morning all,

Hope all is well. I am glad the election is over. don't want to get political, but for me obamacare is a blessing. I have so many students who have medical needs and the state funds been reduced to nothing for badger care, They are going without treatment. It is sad they are minors and there is nothing in the system to help them. Ukadan, I think we are soulmates politically but what matters is that both sides compromise and heal the huge wound in our country.

The girls are fine, the little lost girl is no longer being shunned, On the perch last night, the seabrights were sitting together, then 2 pairs of the Japanese bantams were sitting together. I am glad she was finally accepted. I need to get the plastic up on the other side of the enclosed coop this weekend, I hope it isn't raining all day. I think after Saturday it is supposed to get cold again.

happy Friday

David

Good Morning Everybody! Don't know much about Broncocare but when it first came out my first thought was how in the H are people going to be forced to buy it when they can't afford it. Vic and Bl4 I promise I won't vote for him next election.

Bf4me sorry about your loss
hugs.gif
but it was for the better. Sounds like Halden and a dog would work well! GR that's real good news on the that hen. TO I don't know what to say that's a heck of a lot of losses.
hugs.gif
Cind good luck finding straw you saw the sad shape of my coop when you were here because of the shortage. Luckly have some now but it's going to be real tight to make it through spring. Might have to go with pine chips until first cutting. I'm sure Taz will impress upon the boys whose in charge around here then they will ignore her.
lau.gif
and go about being kittens. She NEEDS aggrivation in her life! Have had many kittens over the years but never a pair raised together. Glad to hear their eating solid food and I know all about the box training, it takes a little while. Now glad we don't have the carpets replaced yet. Yesterday was a perfect day for cleaning the chimney, checked it but didn't clean at the start of the burning season. Actually thought of a better way to do it. Took one of the many feed bags I was saving for something and cut a small hole in the bottom put the brush handle through it and taped the top to the chimney. Only took 10 years to think of that. DUH! After Donny chores heading to the Pig. 5lbs of Haddock for $6. I'm sure they will be small but for that price I'll have 2... or more. That's all I can think of right now BBL

Good morning all. Another night of throwing the silly chickens inside the coop. Don't they know I spent a lot of time making it nice for them? Ugh. The DH is complaining that there are chickens running all over the farm. i personally don't care except for that I think they are laying their eggs God knows where...any tips on how to find them?
Happy to be going out tonight to celebrate my brother and sister's birthday with some dinner and drinks- without kids!
wee.gif
I don't know where there are choosing, but I could eat at Burger King for all I care, except for the fact they don't serve Old Fashioned's there.

Checked on the chickens yesterday and one of my Ameracaunas was up on the roost with blood on her tummy. There was some on her feet too, like it had dripped on them. I looked but couldn't find an injury.
hu.gif
Who knows.
Hope you all have a great day!

good AM,, Judge, maybe you should check the other chickens,, maybe it is not her own blood..

DrH, it's heII to be dislexik (sp), eh? If I wasn't it, maybe I could spell it..

we are going to have a surprise for breakfast.. Annie is bringing home do-nuts,, and then again, SURPRISE !! maybe she won't..

The puppy made it all night without a puddle or a mess.. He seems to be a quick learner.. but we are not going to relax, just yet.. He goes pee as soon as I let him outside, so that is a good sign..

He will not go in the house or out of the house, unless I go first.. what a gentleman, eh ?

TerriO,, do your sick chickens appear sickly for a day or two and then just keel over ? Cocci would be my guess..

Judge, don't let the chickens out for a few days.. that way you will be able to tell if they are laying, and it will help them to realize where they are supposed to be.. can you put a light in the coop? turn it on just before dusk.. or just leave it on ..

I better go let the birds loose..have to feed them outside today.. I have a tom turkey locked up in the lean-to where the big feeder is hanging.. He is going to be a thrill to catch.. looks too big for a net, and he has never been cooped or caught.. I foresee scratches on my arms.. Hay TerriO, I'm Clara Voyant too..

Morning all

Dr HaHa~you are going to just love having 2 boys instead of 1. Only downside is they will bond more with each other than you (as much as cats bond anyway). I have had pairs of kitties more than once in my life and they are precious together, HOWEVER they can also be twice the mischief!!!
lau.gif
(double teaming ankles, other animals, etc.)

TO~how's the rest of your flock? and Tommy? Still can't believe you, of all good chickie mommas, got hit like that.

GR~how's your girl this morning? Can't believe she survived that long. How's her "plumbing" after not eating for that long?

Cindlady~that's the thing w/Obamacare. The good, the bad, and the just ugly. It definitely favors the young (not a bad thing but) at the cost of the old (especially those w/longterm or chronic ailments) and really targets the elderly (remember Obama's comment about "skip the surgery and just take the pill" talking about older patients?) . There are some great things in the bill but there is also some really scary stuff too. I really do have a horse in this race. should something happen to my husband before I reach 65, I (and others like me) really am toast. The drug that keeps me alive (and similar drugs) is not covered under Obamacare and is so expensive (also due to Obama approving patent extensions to the drug company)that if I sold literally everything it would only buy me a few months.)) I have already seen it at my Oncology clinic where people have had to leave their trusted dr and go elsewhere because of it. Don't buy it when they tell you you can keep your dr., it ain't necessarily so. There is already too much of it in place (on purpose) for the whole thing to be scrapped and done over w/o causing a worse mess so I (and others) just hope they can at least clean up some of the worst messes (after everyone READS it). There really was a reason for Pelosi to say "pass it and read it later". The thing really does pay for all those benefits for the young by going after the benefits and care for the old, chronically ill and small business. It's not a free ride, it has to be paid for by somebody, and sometimes the cost is more than just in dollars.
I like how no one has talked about the 100s of jobs that have been recently and suddenly lost in the Wausau area because major insurance companies are cutting back or closing their doors. Connection you think???? Ok, the last I'll say on this, sccccrreeeeeeeeechhh, dragging away my soapbox now and back to talking about our chickies!!!!!

I'm back did you miss me????
big_smile.png
just had to go outside and chase someone's cat away from my run.
smack.gif
If I can catch it that kitty is going for a ride to the humane society! I think Iknow who it belongs to and I am fairly certain it has never seen a vet let alone ever been vaccinated for anything. grrrrrrrrr! Not the kitty's fault I know, but I have to protect my critters. It usually doesn't come by us (that I know of) but my neighbor (the one with the crazy duck that tries to hatch chicken eggs) has to chase it off all the time.

My girls are looking pretty good after their double worming
thumbsup.gif
Poor little Crockpot still has a mildly pasty butt so I might have give her some antifungals. She also still isn't feathering her butt out very well tho the Nustock does seem to be helping quite a bit. Speaking of feathers, my crazy pullet (Noodle) is dropping feathers as fast as she can grow them. At first I thought someone was pulling them out (if they could catch her) but then I watched her do her "freak out" across the yard yesterday and full length feathers were flying everywhere!!! anyone have any ideas about this? She shouldn't be molting her newly grown adult feathers should she? Or are they adolescent feathers??? Could this be because of whatever breed she is????

Well, time to get busy. Last chance to dig the carrots (with lots of chickie help of course).
D.gif

Rain for us the next 2 days and then it's supposed to get REALLY cold!!!

Morning all!
So far I got the critters fed but I need to take clean rabbit cages...I also vacuumed the living room and threw a load of laundry in....all before 8:30...I think I will need more coffee today!
I got rabbit food yesterday and I'm thinking on breeding some does this weekend. I want to bred the Champaignes. I also need to breed Poppy to see how she is mother wise.

Other then that not much else to report. DH is back to work and he is much happier to be doing something then just laying around....

Dan-I love all our military folk. The Nam vets are a awesome group-your right on that one! They got a raw deal when they came back and I feel it's my civic duty to love them even more. I have an Uncle who served two tours in Nam. He was a Green Beret and he served on and A-Team. My cousin Tommy was infantry but did not come home. His death torn half our family apart sadly. His name is on the Nam Memorial wall. I got a chance to see the one that toured the country and we found his name....

TO-Sorry to hear about your flock troubles....At least you got rid of some of the birds so that will help with the feed bill....

Judge-Good luck finding those eggs! Maybe hold a Thanksgiving Egg Hunt? What you might consider is one of two things. First get everyone in the coop and lock them in for a time. See if that jogs their little memories of where to go at night and where to lay. Second, is to build a nice enclosed run and curtail their "running all over the farm". This would prevent them for laying eggs in well hidden places plus your DH would be happy. Just my 2 pennies.....

Well the laundry in the wash is done so onto the dryer and round two for the washer.....love my washer... I will cry when she dies....

Later all

Good Morning... I am getting my plastic up this weekend, we are going to go see the new Bond film tonight after I get off work.
I was supposed to be in the Holiday Horse parade tomorrow, and its a no go, I got called into work and we need the money.

Well I am off to go get hay, feed critters, do more laundry, and then eventually go to work.
yah?

I was getting out tickets online and saw this and HAD to do a screen capture, and then HAD to share!!

You ever wonder HOW Bilbo Baggins got the job of hanging out with the dwarves, dealing with Smaug, .... he had help from MI-6 and James Bond!! YUP... he shot those who opposed Bilbo!
