Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Lost one of my Icelandics yesterday. I don't know what happened. She wasn't sick at all. Poor girl.

My hubby was a dear and moved the silkies into the back shed. So now the entire back pole shed is taken up by my animals! That seems really weird to me. But it sure is nice not seeing a chicken coop in the back yard! I was feeling bad for the silkies because all they did was huddle by the food when there was snow on the ground. Not. Move. So they are in the back shed for the winter to protect their delicate little feet. They can now talk to the goats if they want to!

What else? Yes, the boy update. Last week was the second opinion week. The neuro psychologist in Madison agreed Halden has autism. She agreed he needs intensive therapy to increase his development and social skills. I am so very grateful for the improvements made in this area of autism and spectrum disorders. Twenty years ago you didn't get this help. I hate the idea of all sorts of non functioning adults with autism because there wasn't the knowledge out there to help them as children.

BTW... It's been reported the CT shooter had autism. They had the mother of a guy who went to high school with the shooter (geez get a little more convoluted!) on tv. She said her son told her "he never looked people in the eyes. You could just tell there was something off about him." I got p!ssed! Dumb box... People with autism have an extremely hard time with eye contact. So that makes a person "off" ? That makes a person turn violent? This guy had more mental issues than autism. I just wanted to scream in her face. Her perfect little world where everyone smiles and looks each other in the eyes, free to judge any and all that are different from them.. No wonder mental health issues are swept under the rug...

In case you couldn't tell, I'm on the road to acceptance of my sons autism. But I will totally go momma bear on anyone who is going to say my child is off, or is not going to grow up to be anything of value, or why waste the time on him since he's autistic. I know this is going to happen, but there will be those people who will shy away from my little Pickle now because of this diagnosis. We are going to get shut out of things because people won't know how to respond now. He's the same kid as before, there is just a label stuck on him now. And boy, I'd hate to be the first person to do this to him, cause I'm a itching to get in a fight over it. Momma bear isn't going to let anyone treat my child badly because of his autism.

Busy week. I HAVE to get the cards in the mail!!! I've just been so busy with life altering events I haven't done them yet. I have homemade teacher gifts to do this week too. I knit one a hat. Her dad died last week, and she's the one who works with Halden and his cohorts. Very special lady indeed. Thought she deserved something really special. The rest of them are getting fleece pillows with the fringed knots on 2 sides. I'm getting the boys to do the knotting so they can take pride in helping make a gift for their teachers. Some layered ingredients in jars for teachers assistants. AND Mellie's soap to a few special ones (I havent decided yet if I was taking credit for the making of that yet or not :D )

Tomorrow I also am taking Halden to meet therapy dogs. (Well, the puppy version). Been really reading up on what to look for with the interaction to get the best match for him. The hubby finally knows about it. He's not thrilled. But I'm naming the dog Johnny Cash if its a boy... Just to suck up. Black dog of course, and call him Cash for short. Not sure what the name will be if a girl is the best match for Halden.

Whew! Thanks for reading my book. I guess I should really just do the mini updates. This was so long it's almost Frenchie style!

CC - so sorry about losing Ramses. The orp eggs are part English BBS from slackwater here on BYC. Her parent stock is from Garry Farm, Bethel Farm and the Loft at Holly Lane.

Hi All! WOW only 3 pages... ALL DAY?

DrH... Give L our best.... hope it's an easy fix! Yes, it is quieter here..... I MISS THEM! O well, I'll get over it.

CC.... The cool thing about the kittens new home is she's only about 1/2 mile away (at least for now) But she went to the young son's friend so I may see her again.

Bf4m.... Sorry about your hen. Maybe I'm one of the "odd" ones but I always thought "There's something 'wrong' with everyone" it just shows more with some of us. Guess what I'm saying everyone can wear some sort of label. Try not to let it bother you. I'm sure your little Pickle will be welcome with us crazy chicken people!

Sounds like your birds are set for winter. TO there were 3 options for L [1] live with it, [2] go in and reattach everything. [3] go in and remove the offending appendages. If they're reattached there is always the possibility of them coming loose again so we're going this route. Right now she's so bad that they might just keep her today.

Cindy hope the youngest feels better soon! And hope the rest of you can avoid the nasty bug! Same for you Carol! Forgot to mention the other day that one of Toby's favorite things is to crawl into my dropped drawers while in the reading room and use them like a hammock.

BL4 sounds like you truly have the empty nest syndrome.

Good Morning everyone!

I have been sleeping in lately and i feel so lazy. Must be the weather. My poor chickens and ducks have very little time out with me being so darn lazy. I am making an effort this morning to get out in a few minutes.
