Frigid morning all, first time since I got the dogs that We aren't doing 5:00am walks. Too cold even for them. School got called off, Nice, Will have to make up the work and will probably go in to catch up but I am like a kid. Cold days are like an unexpected gift. I checked on the girls yesterday am, and let them go out in the covered coop, don't think I will let them out today till it reaches 0 hopefully it will.

Been quiet lately since 18 year old ds thinks he can threaten me on moving out if I don't relax the rules of having to do his school work and tell me where he is. I called his bluff. He is now learning what happens to people without a car, money, and friends who will not support him. I am thinking another week or so before I finally allow him back. He may have to spend a few nights at the shelter but he needs a reality check

good grief morning everyone. -20 is NOT funny!!!!! -40 windchill

Having trouble even maintaining my DSL connection. Guess the phone lines must be getting brittle.

Otonoh~called my teenage son't bluff like that many years ago. I always told them they could live with me as long as they like but once they're out, they're out that's it, I'm not running a B&B. He only lasted a few days. Let him back with a new deal. School or get a job and pay rent. Guess which he chose

Afraid to go outside to check on the girls til daylight. Got the heater running and I'm able to monitor the coop temp from the house so I'm not too concerned. Think the weather is getting to them tho. Crazy laying patterns. All were doing very nicely last week, 4 eggs from 4 chooks early last week but haven't had more than 2 since and one has stopped completely. Only one laying every day is my new girl, Noodle but even she has went back to laying her smaller eggs again.

spring is coming, right?????

Oh well, back to hybernating. stay warm and safe everyone.

Good Brisk Morning! Yup Dave reality check needed. TO another loss.

Got up at 3:30 to pee and it was cold in here. Threw some wood in, the fire was about out. Think with the wind and having that spinner open it sucked it up the chimney. Going to modify the rules, windy day, close the spinner. Automatic garage door opener didn't have enough umpf to work this morning. Happens when it's below 0. Only -9 here waaay better than what Vic has! Bf4me

Carol Happy B'day late! Raim been wondering about you glad you checked in and are ok! Cindy I made that mistake answering one of the questionable responses to my cl add. Now inundated with scantily clothed girls wanting to get to know me better.

Can't stop the influx all I can do is block them but it's not working. Took the timer off the lamp this morning, will leave it on until the sun hits the coop. They seem to like it got 5 eggs the last 2 days. Gettin tired of trailer park tv gonna have to learn to read soon. Got some very sad news last night. That accidental shooting at the rifle range is a friend of mine. Heard his son died. Can't imagine what my friend is going through.

For everyone else HI!!!!!!!! Terri shamed me and then beat me with a dead chicken for not coming on here more often.

This morning I am here courtesy of my 5 year old who wanted to wait in the milk house per usual for the bus. She ARGUED with me about getting into the heated car to drive down to the end of the driveway to wait for the bus. For so long that the bus came and went...

um... not cool.

So now I'm propping myself up reading and writing to youse guys until the Mom Bus can leave for school. I've lurked a couple times here! So nice to read and catch up a bit!

So. It's cold. No chicken-sicles yet. No heating either, but now you guys are getting me all nervous about that 'cuz some of you are doing it! Darned if I do darned if I don't! What kinds of heaters are you using? I finally decided to let them tough it out with their feather coats but I'm back on the fence now... -9 in the closed coop.

Ok, it's getting to be that time... AGAIN. Back on with the girl's layers and layers that make her look like the little brother on A Christmas Story!

I just love arguing with my kids on cold mornings like this. If it is -10 outside and the wind chill is -20 you NEED to wear a HAT when you walk to school!!! No debate!

I am putting off getting into the freezer car........ and the cat just threw up. Great.
