Hello everyone.
Love living out in the boonies EXCEPT for the internet choices. There really aren't any...... touch and go and if so it's slow slow slow last night and today.
Angi. Almost was able to pull up your site but no go.... I'll try later.
I did talk to the neighbor today. She said she has made some contact with one person via Facebook. Said she was going to work on it all day.
Otherwise they will be going to the auction tomorrow.
She said she appreciates my help....
Cuties, Like LMiller said. People are trying to dump their horses this time of year. In my honest opinion, anyone who brings a horse to an auction really doesn't care where it goes. Even to a non meat buyer it still could go to a person that is not compatible with that particular horse and the horse could up at the next auction and then to the meat buyers. Just sayin... I would never do it.
If I had and old or lame horse I think I would have ET shoot it before I would send it to auction.
Was just taking to the other neighbor (the one who is trying to rehome their only horse the saddlebred, brown and white mare). She said she had a friend who worked at the auction. He had to keep his mouth shut while he observed people drugging the horses in order to say they were bomb proof and good kid friendly horses. Then the owner would find out they were had when the drugs wore off. Happens all the time.
You can see why.... People think just like dogs that their animal is special and someone will just have to have it !!!! NOT
Or if the animal really does have issues whether it be physical, mental or training or lack of that once it's sold they think the new owner will keep it forever. By camouflaging any health issues or vices the horse has they aren't forced to make the decision to put the horse down, sell it to a meat buyer and they think they are doing right by the horse. Not again. The truth comes out. That horse will no doubt be put on CL or sold at another auction either the same way or a meat buyer will snatch it up or end up in an abusive situation. Of course the almighty dollar comes in to play and is probably the biggest reason people will lie about the true nature of the horse or it's health issues past or present. This is all sad but true. Now in my neighbors case. There is nothing wrong with these horses. They also have hand nothing done to them. Plain and simple she is a backyard breeder. Years ago she made money breeding horses. Now they are just costing her money for hay (because she does not vaccinate or deworm them). So it cost her a vet trip to the house and a $35 coggins test for each one.... Then sell them for $50 each to ensure good homes.
She will take in free horses but will never give one away !! It's all about greed
So we shall see what she does. I would like to say I am done helping her but I'm helping the horses. They have no choice then to go with whatever she decides. Sad, very Sad. They didn't ask to be born. Or bred ! Ahhhh !!
I have seen several ads on CL lately where people are being very honest about the horses health issues or vices. No one wants to pay for them either. So they sit.
The dishonest people will send it to auction, cover up the problem, then take what they can get and never look back. Did I ever tell you I hate people most of the time ?? Seriously !!!! Not any of you guys of course. There are perfectly good free horses all the time. You just have to be patient.
Plans might change for tomorrow. The amish harness maker that I really wanted to see tomorrow is not open today or tomorrow because of a funeral. He is a nice guy and has fair prices. Only has 1 maybe 2 horses.
Cuties, as far as the solar fence goes.....hard to say. It didn't work that well for us but could have been caused by several things. We used the white plastic braided rope from FF. Our ground was very dry where we had the ground rods AND my horses are huge. Don't know how but they can sense that the fence is on and when it's not they would push against the fence, lean over and eat the greener grass on the other side (yes it is greener and they like it). Once the rope or wire touches something like the post etc it will short out and not work. Our fence is in shambles. I swore I would never have a fence like some I've seen. All patched up, half falling down etc........ Lesson learned..... don't ever sand NEVER !!! LOL
Now we have an electric charger and are using the real thick wire sold in a huge bundle. Not the one on a spool (I think that is aluminum) this one will not break. Although they have pulled it down and it came apart where we spliced it. Yes my horses are naughty at times..... Food rules their world !!! lol
Well, there ya go That should have taken up a whole page. Hope it makes sense.... I'm watching Dr Oz at the same time.... he road in on a white gelding today. I see the horses had rubber boots on. Probably so it wouldn't slip on stage.
Just to keep this chicken related.... CC no my hens are not laying yet. ????? Either are any of my other chicks from this year ???? Oh well !

Fish Fry Friday Again... keeping it inside tonight with baked haddock and parmo spuds with a salad made with the fall salad mix grown from sandhill seeds...the salad mix is well worth the time and matures in 4 weeks here.....the fall radishes are excellent like always. Seems like the fall crops are always better here.

The 125th anniversary at church went well... the evening of tours at Camp brought out 90 folks with ho-made apple pies, cheddar cheese and ice cream, as a draw was a hit. The new addition to the shed is almost done. I've spent a ton of hours there.....no hunting yet....but It's getting close to stand time now.
The National is getting close too....it should be a good show....hope I see you there!

The 125th anniversary at church went well... the evening of tours at Camp brought out 90 folks with ho-made apple pies, cheddar cheese and ice cream, as a draw was a hit. The new addition to the shed is almost done. I've spent a ton of hours there.....no hunting yet....but It's getting close to stand time now.
The National is getting close too....it should be a good show....hope I see you there!

BigZ--nice to see you! TOnight we are meeting the kids at El Mariachi for dinner. It is way good! I really dont want to spend the $$$ after the big hoo-hah last night but...I didnt suggest it! I am taking duck eggs along. I have a customer whose daughter is allergic to chicken eggs but duck are fine; that seem weird to me....whatever I guess. Otherwise I just include them with chicken eggs I sell and the people think they are getting really big eggs! I can only tell the difference if I fry them. I have to remember this spring to collect goose eggs for the people that like them for the Easter season.

For any of you that have or watch TV, 20/20 is going to have a show on neighbors from h3ll..... and we thought we had it bad, maybe we should all watch it.... then we'd realize we're making mountains out of mole hills !!! LOL
I called the guy that is running the Amish tour tomorrow. Want to see if it is still going on since the other amish guy is closing because of a funeral. They all might be ??? I know they are all very close. Plus I am going to ask if we can go to the 9am tour instead of the 1pm tour. That way we can get home. ET has to help out the neighbor with hay when we get home. It's going to be an ambien night I guess. Will be up by 6am.

Ah, people. They are so funny. I have tried to sell duck eggs or give them to family and they won't touch them. Even the big duck hunter my nieces' husband. To them eating duck eggs is like for some people eating farm eggs for the first time or eating chicken eggs that are fertilized !!! It grosses them out !! But they'll eat a DEAD animal, even rare with no problem. All in the mind.
Yep, people that are allergic to chicken eggs often can eat duck eggs with no problem. There was a woman at the spay clinic the other day that came all the way from Michigan so she stayed and volunteered. We got to talking about eggs and she said she can not eat fresh eggs, chicken or duck. She can eat them when mixed in bread, cake etc but not fried in the pan, hard boilded etc.
She said it must be the reaction of the protein in her stomach. She really didn't know but figured that was it. Never heard of that before. She said she eats them sometimes just because she loves them but I told her to be careful, it could turn into a full blown allergy since this didn't start until her mid thirties.
I lost my one and only duck egg customer several months ago. He kept calling for duck eggs. I finally asked what he was doing with all of the eggs. He at one time told me that that was all his wife could eat. Then when I asked why so many, he said she was out of town and he was sending some with her and then I think he was mailing some to her. He would call up and order them like I could pop them out on demand. Squeeze a little harder ducky, mama needs more eggs today NOW !!! LOL Then I never heard from him after the last batch. Joke is probably on me..... maybe he hatched them all !!!! Or was reselling them all and lost his customer..... Who knows but come next spring I am going to have TONS of duck eggs. I plan on selling some as hatching eggs online and trying to find a few good customers.
Shark Tank starts tonight..... Gosh I wish I was like my Dad....he could have probably patented tons of stuff from all of the ideas he had. I think we should all put our heads together and come up some ingenious chicken items and make us some BIG MONEY !!! LOL
Now I need to buy a new phone but ATT doesn't have the slide out Samsung text phone that I want any more. They said Samsung doesn't make it anymore. It was a very good phone until I cracked it like a nut between my fake knee !!!! H3ll, I'm armed and dangerous and I didn't even have to get a License !! LOL

Here's the new chicks, 15 total, but 2 of them are about a month old from another hatch a lady did that was taking my eggs and giving me choice of the hatch. the far left brownish one is a BLRW x Light Brahma. Can't wait to see how that one turns out. Alot of dark ones. I can see blue wings on one starting already. Have a batch in one incubator on lock down atm, but noticed a temp drop to 95, hope I didn't mess that up.
Been so crazy around here. I noticed you were talking vehicles a few days ago but didn't have time to chime in. I had bought a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2 weeks ago today and yesterday the family took a trip to Eau Claire. Well I stopped at a stop light and the tranny started going in and out so pulled into Holiday to check it out. Fluid was full so we went to try and go and no gears at all. Sat and waited for about an hour and give it some gas and it went into gear. We got onto the freeway and made it to New Auburn, stopped and went to go and nothing again. Called husband uncle to come save us, I come home and they went back with trailer to pick up Jeep, It must of sat long enough as it drove onto trailer. Hauled it to the shop today to see how much it's going to cost to fix it. This is the first time I've bought non GM vehicles and I'm kicking myself! I can't afford to fix it if it's the tranny so I'll have a really nice looking yard ornament if that's the case. I sold my GTP as it was a 2 door and was getting sick of getting in or out when the boys had to get out or being smashed into the steering wheel. Should of kept my car and dealt with it as it was more reliable. If it weren't for the trans, the Jeep is a very nice riding vehicle with so many nice options. But dang, 2 weeks and I'm sitting. Not a good position to be in for sure. Besides daughter sold her vehicle and we delivered it to New Richmond, then drove to down town Minneapolis to pick up her Bonneville she bought. Been a long week of driving and have to go down to Winona to my cousins in the morning for a bday party. I've put on so many miles this week I just wanna sit home and relax but I really want to see my cousin and his family.

OMG Just received a text from Mike (ChickenShip) and he is over in Olivia, MN at his sisters-they are planning on hunting the cougar/mtn lion (with full permission from DNR & Sheriff) tonight. It sounds like out of his sisters 8 mini horses-it has killed 2, there are 2 more that might not make it-only left one untouched!!! Neighbors have seen it in the driveway, fields etc too. I am way nervous for him and his brothers out there tonight.
