Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I did want to addnanlittlenon the family discussion...
I grew up without any step parents. I am gladnfor that. But it was very hard that they were not happy fornmany years. They divorcednwhen I was 17. Actually told me when I finally decided to go home for a visit on my 18th bday. I willnobviously always hold onto that.
Watches ng my younger sis' s grow up with step dads makes me grateful I had what I had.
If you arena step parent, I can not imagine ever feeling the love towards your spouses children asyour own. But try to makenthose kiddos still welcome in your home :) no matter how annoying their other parent can be, it is not their fault.even if they do pick up some of the bad habbits from the other parent ;)
all of my sistersnhave step kids, or that type of situation going on. And I see how hard it is for them.

good morning, just a quick note. waiting for the cuppa to brew..

JimP"s eggs are finally hatching,, not the popcorn effect I like to see, though.. 48 eggs and only 2 out so far..

the chick we retrieved from the cull eggs is doing fine.. I will toss him in with JimP's batch..

nice unsunny cool day.. good day for some manual labor outside..I hope it doesn't rain ..

uh oh, I hear a cuppa calling me..

Morning all.
Just trying to inhale some breakfast before running off again and thought I'd catch up and chime in (for those that can still tolerate me going on on my duckies).

Finally got the tiller to work by fixing the condenser. Mowed all of the lawn after slipping and falling hard on my hip/back (I hear the chiropractor calling), separated, fed and gave cover to all the complaining ducklings outside and gotta clean the messy ones inside before heading to the city for a coupla days (as usual).

Also cleaned out all the condos and redid the bedding and readied another so I can separate our Holderread bunch. Getting to big to be together now (13 in all).

So let me get going, for this cool and misty day shall pass also....

taking a break.. have over half the veggie garden double tilled and 99% rock free.. Annie is picking them up as I dig them out.. I was doing that all alone, but I was making very slow progress ..

we spread some black contractors bags along the foundation of the green house. covered them with the rocks we picked.. so far, 2 wheelbarrows full.. some day I will poke some sort of vine in between the rocks.. elderberries grow good in rock piles..

I have to go to town and get a new V belt for the tiller.. any old belt won't work.. I have to get part # type belt.. It is a special belt made for Troy Bilt tillers.. I tried the cheaper ones but they last only a day or two..

not many guineas hatched yet.. a few pips .. maybe there is hope yet.. only 4 of the 48 hatched.. and the due day is slipping away ..

the cool morning slipped away and it is quite warm in the sun, now..

so, how is your day going ??

Sitting here half naked in the camper ! I think I ought to post a sign at the end of the driveway.... Enter at your own Risk !
Haven't read back since I posted. Will do though.
Jim are you going to Waves sale on Saturday ? It is going to be her last one...forever I guess. Suppose to rain she said.

Got the Z turn lawnmower charged yesterday. Hopped on and started cutting. I had the same problem last year. It was a devil turning it and backing up the hill etc. Finally got dark. Was going to stop for the night. Pulled it up to park and realized I HAD THE BREAK ON THE WHOLE TIME !!! How soon we forget !!! Geeze then it was like WOW so I took it back out on the 20 acres where we planted blue spruce trees. They're big enough to see now about 3-4'. Well the mower was moving so fast that I accidently ran into one (they bend you know) and skimmed some bark off of the trunk.
So should I paint it or ???
So that's my question of the day. It was going to be what's up with my lawnmower !!! LOL
Oh and has anyone ever put a new dvd drive in their laptop ? I need to do that asap.

Crappy Monday here. Eye still bothering me, I've got an appointment for Wednesday morning. I've got my glasses on here at work and I have to be careful not to look down as they'll fall right off!

Got a call from my dad that Theo the guard dog turned into a chicken killer. I told him to go beat the dog with the dead hen. Then he calls back saying she isn't dead, but that he had her pinned down with some feathers out. DD13 put all of the chickens into the coop and I'll look at her later. It was my buddy the lavender orp hen from CC. I hope he didn't do much damage. I had told DD13 to take him out and walk him around this morning and to feed him. I wonder whether she actually did what I asked???? I'll get the whole story when I get home.

Work sucks today. I am having numerous issues that are causing un-needed stress.

That's my day, so far, in a nutshell!

Well I only made it to last Thursday on the posts... Tonight will try and catch up on the rest... Angie I read your posts, but I don't know beans about Kelp

I think that is why the lord invented google...
Tomorrow is day 28 on the turkey eggs thanks BBP for saying you raise the chicks and turkeys together and have had no issues... I am glad I don't have to tell DH he has another build on his honey do list, unless Jim wants to drive to Madison and build me one as nice as his.
As for as a fall bash goes there is a little town to the west of Wausau, called Dorchester... It has a small park and there is also a kitchen that could be rented (I'd have to call and see what they charge).. Camping without electric is $8 and with electric is $15 per night... seems reasonable... It is a nice quiet out of the way place... just saying I could look into it more if someone likes.
Things that didn't make it through the winter are numerous... I have an Oak Leaf Hydrangea DOA, need to find another plant that can grow in this spot it is the 3rd one in like 5 years and it was the one I though was the healthiest... It has a rough spot almost under the eaves, and the soil is pretty compact from the huge Honey Locust... Cherry tree is dying dead, looks like borers have finally taken their toll... DH is blaming the fact that I spent big bucks on a dehydrator last summer

. Then there is the peach tree or should I say peach stalk, all the dead branches are trimmed off and it is a 12' stalk maybe TLC will help it recover. Ohhh and the asparagus.... only have had a handful where last year we had almost enough to freeze... I could eat asparagus every day and then take some of BZ's in a bloody mary... (hint hint) Later all.

Now I have a stupid little hawk bothering my meat birds and young turkeys. I don't think he's big enough to grab a call duck or my full-grown bantams, just chicks. But as the bird book describes him, he is "tame". Darn thing certainly wasn't afraid of me. I'll have to do a head count at dark tonight. I think its a broad winged hawk. But not 100% sure.
