Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

My chicks are now 3 wks old. This morning, I heard one sound gurgly and several are sneezing. What would you do? Treat with Tylan 50 for respirtory? Give it a day or two and see if it improves or gets worse? They seem energetic and no one is acting sick at all

how dry is their pen ? maybe mist it a bit to settle the dust and dander ..

Jim, If anything its probably the opposite-its been too damp as I had some flooding issues. I have been watching for any signs of Cocci since i had that last fall and with all the moisture so far this spring/summer. Also one of them was makign that gurgling sound like a croupy kid makes. I can try misting as I dont think that will make anything worse at this point? I noticed that the one chick I was holding, when it sneezed there was some wet in the sneeze too. I recently added ACV to the water, too

Back from the Wheeler swap. Quite a few sellers but definitely not enough buyers. So where was everybody???

Was able to sell all the baby and 2 adult Red Golden, and our Reeves male. A few Chinese women were interested in the ducks we brought, but I'm not wanting to sell rare and endangered breeds to someone I KNOW will make them into a meal! The thought alone makes me wanna cry.

Then the long way back, unloading the still full car and cleaning the kennels and cages. Fed and watered everybody, and now it really looks like rain. Oh well, the ducks will love it...

BBP, thanks but he only wants to have Toulouse. I already got my way (hehehe) when we traded in 4 couple of month old Pekins for 2 goslings today (1 Emden, 1 buff/Toulouse mix). Now just figuring out the sex of those guys...

Oki, off to taking a nap now. Bad headache from crappy short night of sleep and the weather turning. Ttyl

good afternoon,

did some rototilling between the rows..

just set 15 guinea eggs.. due 8/14..

now I have the unpleasant task of finding a stinky egg in the bator..

..
this is my potato patch inside the green house.. it is 25 feet
from front to back and 11 feet wide,,

..
this shot was taken from the doorway looking almost straight
down at the plants..
they are spaced about 10 inches apart both ways,,

I just tilled the soil good and loose and set the potato seeds on the dirt.. then I covered them with several inches of straw..

I think I am supposed to add more straw, but HOW ?? there is no room to walk between the plants..

I never tried this kind of planting before.. live and learn..

I will prolly end up with a nice thick potato patch and no potatoes..

Not a vet.....sounds like respitory infection(sp? ) problem. I believe duramycin-10 will help with this. Would need to read label for dosing amount.
I am not a vet either, but I would consider a spray bottle with a solution of hilex bleach
.. spray the floor .not the chickens..
bleach will dissipate in a day ..
and it might just kill the fungus or whatever is there ..

Great ideas thanks! I think I will spray down the coop in the morning, see how they are by tomorrow night and if they are worse, then treat them with either Durimycin-10 or Tylan 50 water soluble.

BBP: I can mix up partial batch of the Oxine right? Do you need any for anything?

Meghann turned 15 yesterday-day at Mall of America yesterday and whole fam-damily over tonight! :)
