Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Nice door Jim!!! Want to come here for the projects Scott doesn't have time for? ;)

I will contact mom n bf to see when they have another trip home. They transport chickies for me up there on ocassion :)

Chciken show was fun and informational! Kids got quite a few blue ribbons. And Blake got reserve grand champion in the open class!!!! With pur Blue Sumatra hen :) they are happy
Syd is a bit jealous that she did not get a trophy. But I explained that only two are given in that class and 1st place is almost as good.
Sadly this morning before our arrival some kids were cought picking on birds. And our Sumatra rooster badly dammaged his beak. It does not look good. He is already having that not feeling good look :( we brought him home. And he is being kept in a pen. But I am worried. Does anyone have any recommendation for first aid? Everyone at the show suggests just keep him on electrolytes and watch to see that he eats. It is broke across more than half of his beak. It is close to the nostrils. And top claer through to the bottom. I did see him eat twice today. But he can not even fully close his beak. He is our only roo, and I do not have chicks growing out from them. :(

As much as I love fairs, there needs to be somebody keeping an eye on the animals at all times just for this reason. Why I have not shown anything, this and that anyone can come in and feed them something toxic. Jerks.

Cuties, I hope your guy recovers.

DH wanted to know if you could possibly superglue the outside part? At least it would be stabilized......

Well I haven't posted in a long while but I've been here everyday reading up!

The door is looking pro Jim! :)

Cuties, I had the same problem with my Pekin drake he got his bill caught in a fence and my little brother was running right at him, Long story short clipped some of his bill. He did great for about another 2 years until a fox got him. Im sure ur roo will spring up like a daisy with alittle loven.

The past few days have been crazy, lots of yard work and gardening. We ripped the Shingles off the the storage shed and are putting the new ones on tomorrow. Chicken wise we finally got another broody in our mitts, gave her some silkie/Splash Bantam Wyandotte mix eggs can't wait for those to hatch. Also just set 75 cotunix quail eggs, hopefully I get a good hatch rate this time! Oh and i finally talked my dad into getting some goats! So hopefully I will be having some running around the yard soon.... well that's all I got!

Wow! I really like posting, I think I'm gonna do it more often if it's fine with everyone? Have a nice night :)

Urgh! Got done dry fitting the car with all the different cages and things to take with, where to put which birds etc. in between taking care of the ducks, separating them, draining and filling pools, water and food dishes and then making some small banana bread loafs too. Of course he had to redo and rethink everything in the evening. Oh well, he is gonna catch the pheasants, not me!

Everybody got their swim in, cleaned out and locked in for the night. Then took a much needed hot shower and now I'm hurting all over and am SOOO ready for a very short night. Gonna see if we will sell anyone tomorrow at all... Kinda anxious...

had a small explosion of hatches in the past 2 hours.. I hope it keeps up for awhile.. lots of movement in the hatcher,, I didn't try counting yet.. quick glance has it at about 6 .. 34 more to go..

I checked the garden just before dark.. have some tilling to do..

soon I will have to put up the trellises for the cukes to climb up on..
the squash plants are starting to crawl across the ground.. I will guide them toward the grassy area next to the garden..

the potatoes are growing nicely.. need to toss some more straw over them,,

Baling hay tonight. No kick baler or hay wagons. So there were 600+ bales to pick off of the field. Back at it tomorrow. We're putting a 4 acre clover field into rounds. Not sure what to expect out of that. Why do I have horses?

Hi All!

Cuties... sorry about the roo. Without seeing it hard to say, but I would try the super glue. Just don't drop it right on the beak, use a toothpick or something.

Nothing new, Jasmine should hatch some chicks within the next couple days

then Storky in a few more days!

Night All!

good morning, all SSS and ready to go..

lots of new chicks in the hatcher this morning..

Cooties, I think I mentioned how people steal chickens from the fair exhibits, didn't I ?

I am all showered up, now I don't feel like grubbing around and doing any dirty jobs..

I'll toss some feed at the birds, but that will be it ..

have to leave here at 8:3o to take GS to work.. then I think I will go to the Log Cabin for a cuppa..

Annie put a dehumidifier in my room.. now when I empty it I dump the water into my bator reservoirs.. no more hauling water from upstairs..
