Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Maybe explain to the kiddos about your worries. Mine are pretty ypung also. And sometimes surprise me with their logical thinking. Could also promise each to choose thj eir own silkie to keep and name in spring :)
Yes, pairs is to be sure i do not get roo overload. Because i can not bring myself to eat my own. But, the transition is so much easier for a bird if they have a buddy. Just think of that poor lonely chickie locked all alone in quarenteen. And forgetting social skills. And then put in with your flockwithout a buddy ;)
Have fun at that wedding!

good afternoon,

chickens do not need a companion for transition,, take them both, make soup out of the roo and enjoy..

those chicken chases are a hoot.. let the kids go and chase,, then sit back and pray that they don't catch any.. If you do take one home, treat it like you would if you got it from a swap..
that chicken will be one that you all will remember long after you forget about the rest if them,,

One of my childhood buddies caught a greased pig at the fair one time.. He took it to our other friends farm,, IDK whatever became of that pig ..

I am not working on the tractor today.. I assume it is all mud all around it..

supposedly the dogs do come trotting home with their puppies.. If it happens, I will take a picture for sure..

Yes, Annie is less worried after talking to those other two ladies..
One of them told her that she would be surprised at what a small space these dogs can squeeze into.. which brings us back to my theory that she is under the lumber pile..

Ok, chicken chase here we come, I like your idea of the kids remembering this one jim.... and I should probably bring a video camera... if I can just make sure he doesn't get a rooster I will be ok... lol have heard that people just get unloaded upon with chickens at these things though, that all these kids catch chickens and don't have farms or places to keep them so are giving them to anyone who will take them, yikes!

hoping I don't end up with a bunch of them....

I am thinking they use a feeder pig for greased pig, will see the size of the pig and then let the boys decide if they wanna "tackle" it, literally, lol. had a friend tell me to put them in training by pulling a stuffed pig behind a fourwheeler....

still unsure on taking the cochins, I still want just one, and I know she wants to unload two, so will just pass....

Lol! I'm not sure if you're making fun of me, Jim or both. :)

I picked up my bacon and ham from the butcher today. I told them no ham steaks and no hocks, but they were there. At least they didn't mess up and give me the head. That would have made me puke.
Going to the MN State fair in the morning.

I hear crickets and an echo . . .

I just made some soup the other night with some smoked hocks; it was pretty darn good and had no beans or potatoes in it. Just a everything but the kitchen sink kind of soup. Had some crusty bread with it too.

Tonight was breakfast; buttermilk pancakes and bacon!

Oldest DD is going lake salmon fishing tomorrow with the BF and his family. They will be 10 miles offshore of Algoma. I'll be a wreck until I know she is back on land.

I finally got two tomatoes off one of my plants, the Black Krim tomatoes are my first that do not have end rot. I mixed a bag of calcium into the soil when I saw that was popping up. Grrrr.....

That is all for now. Cuties, have a great weekend with your horse. Wear a helmet! ;)

good evening,

I do not know why all of a sudden I am such a bad person for letting my dog get bred..
I had no control of what she did before we got her.. so how am I to blame for that ?
whe has had puppies only once per year.. not twice.. and this time we did not think she could get PG,, with her health issues .. even the vet doubted it..

I don't feel that I am any worse than people who hatch way many more chickens than they are allowed to have, and then scramble to dump roosters anywhere they can..

we take good care of our animals.. two and four legged alike..

I am not a puppy mill,, many of out puppies are spoken for before they are even born..
and I am not ashamed of where any of our puppies were rehomed.. except for one rehoming, and that was from a member of this thread.. ETA: I am not referring to anybody currently on here.. the rehoming was from our first batch of pups..

I didn't hear one peep from anybody here when they described the conditions that our puppy was living in.

just saying..

Hi All! Glad to see life returned to this thread!

KV.... Sounds like the chicken chase will be a hoot! Not so sure the chickens will enjoy it to much, but I'm sure they'll get over it.

Bbp.... Gee, the head has some of the best meat!

Well, this is what I got yesterday...... 2 Russian Orloff chicks!

They aren't great layers, but cool chickens. The size makes good meat birds too.

Here's 3 of our cats attempting to make an Oreo!

All 3 have the same mother and father!

Night All!

Jim, I don't know as though anyone said you were doing bad (if they did I missed it). I know Dora isn't pumping them out right and left. Sounds like even you were surprised by Dora getting PG. I wouldn't worry about it.
