things are good here. Totally burnt fromnriding so much today. And we are getting Sydney a saddle tomorrow! And mom gotnme a saddle! I will get it Monday. And then we will begin the battle of who rides when lol

Late evening, watching the Badgers football game...been a good game so far.

Been working like crazy here, we have been working weekends for awhile now...got 1 unit ready in about 3 hours today and gave over keys, also working on painting at least 4,000 sq. ft. house- have 1 bathroom and 5 closets left to paint- need to finish by Sept 4th... we are taking off tomorrow and Monday- have to get the kids ready for school

and finish 4-H project books!

BL4- are you the one who makes soap? My DD wants to try making some that smells really good (as she says)- any suggestions?

So far we have 1 new modern game chick that hatched yesterday...my mom texted me and tells me- "you have a new chick"....she had to move it off the turner and on to a shelf...totally forgot that those eggs were due...so hoping that we get 1 more to hatch

Guess I won't be driving the new Honda from the Casino today. An old guy won. I walked up to him and said congratulations..... can I ask how many entries you put in ? 4100 !!!! I said well I guess my 40 didn't stand a chance. They said some people had more then that in there !!! Wow !!!

Oh well....

Don't know if I ever posted but we have a ton more ducks here. Muscovies, crosses, magpie, Cayuga, Rouen crosses and two I think pure runners. Ducks every place. Cutier then $hit. Don't really want the winter feed bill but I love my ducks.

Some of my hens hatched out some chicks. Have about 12 so far. Only 2 baby keets. I think I have mostly males.

I think I had posted that my Peacock had flown the coop. Well he was spotted about 4 miles from here. Someone we knew cornered him in their barn and the minute we got him home the cage he was in collapsed and he got out. Ran straight down the driveway and was gone for 9 days before he returned. Was home for about two weeks and now has been gone for about 6 days again. I give up.... I know someone that has a male and a female for sale but I hate spending good money only to have them disappear. I have one lonely hen though. So if anyone hears of any peahens or peacocks looking for a home let me know. We do tall fencing to make a run but Mr Peabody loved to roost up in an old dead Elm tree. Maybe if I start out with younger ones next time.

Well, the sunburn feels a little better today. So I suppose we will be riding between rain showers
Bbl4 should be stopping for a visit! And a ride Sydney is being surprised with a saddle today. Now lets hope it fits! I think I will make lasagna for dinner. And dad will likely be stopping for a visit

I came home after the fair last night to lock up the flock and one of my 2 month old pullets is missing. (1 of the 2 out of 12 salmon faverolles that was a pullet). There are no signs of a struggle, no feathers nada The flock doesnt seem on edge either which I would think they would if something had been there. I have a small section of the netting down from re painting the barn-wondering if she jsut flew out and will show up sometime still?

good morning,

just a short note, have to leave in a few minutes..
meeting Annie for b'fast.. she just is coming off of a 36 hour shift.. good thing she can sleep on the job, but still a long haul..

I put some dog burger in a pan near the hole where I suspect Dora is in,, the pan was dragged farther in this morning and tipped over.. I hope it was not the skunk I can smell today ..

I know it is not a skunk,, Gus would see to that..
however, it could have been chipmunks or a red squirrel..
I am going on the assumption that it is Dora..

lots of crawl space under the lumber pile..

I am supposed to go to a pot-luck picnic at 2PM.. I think I have help coming for the tractor, so I will forego the picnic..

I rode a horse a couple of years ago.. my hips ached for 2 days afterwards.. I can hardly believe I used to ride over 8 hours a day when I was in high school..
used to ride 5 miles to the farm where the cows were kept ,, milk the cows (no milking machines) and then ride back and then go to school..

I spent the day moving my kennel to the pig house so that I can temporarily house some chickens It seems like a simple task, but with no help it takes a while. Also, I didn't have the roof on so I had to find all of the pieces for that.
