Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good wet fall morning,

first real frost is due this weekend. I have mixed emotions about that.. I hate to see winter coming.. but I need the leaves to fall so that I can collect scions for starting root stocks.. I am going to try grapes, apples and pears..
If all goes well, I am going to have a heII of a nice new orchard started along the road where I planted the new grass..

I can't go up onto the roof today, too wet and slick on the metal roofing, but I can cut a block for mounting the tv Dish, and I also have to cut some metal roofing and cut a 12" clay chimney flue in half to extend the chimney 13 inches..

8 eggs yesterday,
, I guess I can remove the picture of Col Sanders from the coop
speaking of Col. Sanders.. the new one on tv is pathetic..

ETA:

I got the wood block cut and fit into the vinyl mounting block.

I cut on the clay flue until the cutting blade wore down . waiting for Annie to get back from town with a diamond blade.

took a taco break, not in a great big hurry to go back outside.. kind of chilly out there..

Finally getting some time to myself. Busy busy week. Thinking walleye and baby reds tonite and some house cleaning accompanied by coffee. Just a chill evening. My feelings on the frost are mixed too. Kinda wondering where summer went but ready for some ice fishing at the same time

I love ice fishing, but I didn't go even once last winter.
I can't go alone so I have to depend upon my brother to pick me up.. we just never connected.. maybe I will do better this winter.. I like to fish for bluegills, crappies and perch, bro Dave likes to hook the big northerns.

I got the flue tile scored. but I knocked a big chunk out of it when I was hammering it apart. I think I can repair it. will give it a try tomorrow.. it will be sort of like putting a puzzle together. I hope I can locate all the pieces.

most of the leaves are down from my trees. tonight will take a toll if it freezes like they say.

Annie picked a couple quarts of raspberries today. lots of green ones left.. if it doesn't freeze too hard we might still get a good fall harvest..

good morning,
cold out, but doesn't look frosty..

not going to get much accomplished today..
have a funeral to attend..

.........jiminwisc.......

I made a mistake,, the funeral is tomorrow..

so I did get my mosaic chimney flue all glued up..
I priced out chimney caps..
Can we all say "YIKES!!!" boys and girls ?
looks like I will be fabricating them myself. mine probably won't last more than 25 years. but then I will be 99 years old. ask me then if I care.

Cory, I like doing electrical. but not if it comes to impossible fishing wires through walls.

that is a job that you know instantly if you did it right or wrong.

BBP, that little kitty would be hardly a snack for my dogs. don't you have anything in a larger size ?

I have a little bottle fed kitten that will need a home soon if anyone is looking. Bottle fed kittens usually turn out to be jerks, but it's sweet right now.

Why do you think bottle fed kittens usually turn out to be jerks? I only ask because we have raised many and I've only ever hand one turn out to be somewhat of a jerk and even she's not really a jerk.
Three of our 4 bottle babies play fetch(though like anything cat on their terms) and all are good at only scratching what they've been taught to scratch.

Perhaps it's all in the bloodline they come from. The ferals we cared for were extremely docile sweet cats once you gained their trust and affection. In fact our biggest problem with them was that if you left the door open they'd come right on in we had them so tame. Lol while they were nice house guests we could let the 16 or so ferals waltz in with out other cats without quarantine and testing. Besides that 16 more would have put us at 20 which is a bit extreme. Lol so we tamed and rehomed most of them to wonderful families besides our own.

Wish I could take the little one unfortunately we are at our limit right now. Good luck finding the baby a home. :)

Morning all,
Pretty cake and everyone sounds busy. Was out yesterday working in the space, pulled a few weeds, used electrical staples to finish attaching the wire fencing to the inside of the split rail, screwed 3 free pallets together for a designated compost space behind the shed, replaced the mulch that got moved when we re-leveled said shed, cleaned out and organized my side of the garage so it is ready for pellets and thought about which beds I might get covered if I ever get that done.
Pretty good frost this morning, but the garden space has trees and a building surrounding it, so looks like it was safe, weird how that works. Have to sing for church this morning, then will pick up 1/2" EMT, straps and some poly film. Our tube bender is one of those hand held on a pipe type, great for making a 45 or 90, not quite sure how I am going to get a low tunnel curve using it, but will figure something out. With the weather change, a high tunnel is starting to look a little appealing. Have to pick up the squash today and pull the posts and hog panels out of quacktopia, will finally tell that space goodbye. Pulled a couple salad turnips for a snack yesterday, checked my beans but thinking that because they are still green, I am not going to be able to get them to dry in the bed like I normally do. Anyone else pull and hang bean plants? Will keep picking tomatoes for as long as the vines stay green and may have those and some beets for lunch today. Kids and hubby left yesterday after football at noon for Grant county for the youth hunt. Not holding my breath on backstraps for supper but you never know. Maybe we will have a calm day I can burn off the old space this week.
