Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey Wisconsin!
I just signed up on BYC after lurking around quite a while. I live in Milwaukee and got my chicken permit approved last month. :D
Never had chickens before so this is all going to be a learning experience for me.

Welcome BBZZZT! :frow

How many chickens do you have and what kind? If you have any questions, there are several people here that can help.
I have about 50 chickens (25 meat slated for freezer camp over the next couple of weeks) nd 25 turkeys. Today I plan to be drying more herbs.
Enjoy the day!:D

None yet! Still building the coop.
In Milwaukee we're only allowed 4 hens, no roosters. But that's 4 more chickens than was allowed a few years ago so I can't complain :)

it is nice to see that there are live people out there.
after over 2 months the female dog that we are babysitting and waiting for her to come in heat, finally is showing signs.
I hope it is not a false alarm.

it is only 24F here and it is almost noon.

as soon as I work up some ambition I might start installing the window sills that I have made.

I am not going to varnish them until I get everything installed.. It probably won't get done until next spring. but at least things will be in place..

Yup, I'm alive! Some days are easier to get on than others.
Harvesting, cooking, freezing, drying, mowing, and cleaning garden beds, etc., have been keeping me busy.

I love hearing what others have been up to.

it's hard to believe that there are over 100 people who have joined this thread . they come and they go..
I think many of them got hung up on Face Book ..
........jiminwisc,,,,,,,

I like the "like" box. at least I can tell that someone is reading this carp..

Hi guys, I've been quiet since school started and then stopped getting notifications. I've missed all the daily doing updates!

Yesterday was a sad day here. I was careless and left 1 of my dogs where she had access to the birds. She was always watchful but never chased, so I thought it'd be ok. I'd had a flat tire and was waiting for an Uber to go to work. Even though I knew she was there, I didn't take the time to go get her and hoped for the best. I feel really crappy about it.

I'm going to be reducing my flock to the actual legal limits, so if anyone wants 3 Sebastopol geese that are a little beat up but thankfully not seriously injured message me with an offer. I'm fairly certain it is 2 geese and a gander. I have 2 Muscovy ducks early June hatch date. These have both been injured but should pull through just fine. They are staying quiet and sleeping more, but are moving around and eating and drinking. I also have 10 pullets not quite laying yet with June 21 hatch date. I have 10 mostly pullets from fall tsc chick days, unsure of hatch date, but probably 6 or 7 weeks?
1 really cute bantam cockeral June 21 date. He was unknown to be male when I culled other males.
I have just 3 that are currently laying, but most of these will be laying fairly soon. Make an offer, Milwaukee area.
What types are your pullets?
