Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Our snow is almost gone - except for the area between the sheep shed and the guinea coop. I plopped my compost tumbler in that area when we moved in here 4 years ago, but I never use it there so I want to move it. It is still surrounded by over 2 feet of snow so I will have to wait. But, I don't "wait" so well...

captain FFF is pooped. he has been hauling wood for the past few days..
still have plenty of my glacier left. it is down to about 4 feet high..

That is nothing but the Truth….. The Spring has definitely been taken out of my step with the work involved cutting and hauling a huge Maple tree that the City cut down in front of my daughters house…..we claimed the wood and have been working on it for days. The tree was 36" across and took my forester son in law with his huge saw to be able to block it up.

Nine truck loads so far, and it looks like 2 or three to go yet. I'm taking a couple days off to refresh the sore body. Ah to be young again.

Most of the snow is gone now in the yard....some sheets of snow yet where it's shady....of course I still don't have a clear path to the coops, but it looks like I will in a couple more days.... that will be nice for sure.

The birds sure are enjoying being out and about again. Even the poor hen that everyone seemed to pick on is being left alone again with all the hens busy searching and scratching for all the outside treats. Still waiting for the older girls to start laying again...all in due time I guess.

Fish Fry Friday to all! Been awful busy with all the breakfasts at church as well as a meal at Camp last night..... so tonight it's easy Friday with baked breaded fish filets and potato salad left over from last night.
Snow is slowing going. I can't wait till I see no white on the ground.

Have Fun... bigz

Kept the flock locked in their pens today with the rain and us having to make a road trip for groceries for the Tuesday breakfast at church. Should be a good meal with breakfast burritos as the main item.... checking out fresh fruit at one grocery store and cantaloupe was $4.69 each at one store and Aldi had the same ones for $1.19 each....pays to shop around for sure. I ended up spending $90 for everything, including all the pork sausage and cheese and hash browns and orange juice...etc.

Fresh green grass sprouts coming up everywhere here now on the lawn. The hens will be happy for all the fresh picking they will enjoy from now on.

We also enjoy the ramps and the morel schrooms. Our key here for the morels is when the skeets really start kicking in.
When the green frogs are singing, the walleye are spawning.
Sure could use a nice sunny day here to pick up my attitude some more!
I've used more firewood the last couple weeks than I thought I would....it gets chilly enough at night here to need a fire to take the chill out.

Have Fun, bigz
