Morning all!
Cind, sorry to hear you've been under the weather.
Dooner, a call is a breed of duck.
DH took another trip out to house and the neighbor lady he met earlier had mowed our lawn for us, how sweet was that! DH told her if there's anything we can ever do for her... he'll be snowblowing her drive this winter. Crazy man LOVES to snowblow! Everybody wins!
She's a widow, sells real estate, loves to plant flowers and the lot I want to buy off her is full of flowers. We have a lot in common, as I too fill up every available space with flowers and used to sell real estate. She has a daughter who lives in Chicago and visits 3x's a week who's a photographer (I might actually be able to learn a few things from her! woohoo!).
Raiquee, I know what you mean, we found a lot of beautiful acreage with great outbuildings, but the house generally couldn't accomidate us without a lot of work and expense. If it were solely up to me I would have taken less house and a lot more acreage. In the interest of getting out of FL, I sacrificed acreage for a house that is totally redone top to bottom with new EVERYTHING on only 1/2 acre. DH will be 60 this year and I'm no spring chicken myself, and some minor work is one thing, a complete overhaul to make a house suit our needs is a whole 'nother animal.
There are two empty lots behind us and one on the side of us, so there is a potential to increase our acreage a little. Our new neighbor owns all three. Hubby thinks she asking WAY to much for the lot next to us, but I think she may come down a bit and if means I have to work full time for 3 or 4 years to pay for it I will. I INTEND to get that lot one way or another!
I believe it's about 3/4 of an acre, which would be perfect for a little orchard, garden and room for a couple of pygmy goats and of course more chickens
And who knows I may shoot for the lot behind us too! I'm a firm believer in "you can never have too much land!!" Of course this purchase meant I have to forego some things I have always dreamed of having like a peacock and having a horse again, but I guess I can survive without them.
Well off to make some phone calls, have to see if Dish Network or Direct TV can provide high speed internet service (dial up out there) and if I can get wifi service somehow (no reliable cell phone service either!). Then round up some things to take to Goodwill.
Have a fantastic day folks!
