drH my referance was about not knowing names of people on byc, so when I tell my DH what someone said I always have to use "handles" cause IDK names.

yep I suck at chicken math, but my DH does too

gotta take DD3 to Dr today, she had a deer tick on her this weekend and the bite site is still all red. Ticks are BAD this year! the deer ticks are really bad! they started coming out maybe 2 weeks ago and I can't tell you how many I have removed already this year. atleast 10 from my poor small dog when I was shaving her.

I gotta go see ya

If I didnt think my kids would tattle on me... my chicken math would be better. DH only goes out to the coop when I need his help fixing things on it or when I was sick. But the kids do most of the work and he doesnt know who is who....
My MIL is on my side with chicken math. She agrees that we should set up our old rabbit hutch and add a few more silkies to the cute little one that Carol gave me so they have their own little silkie space. Put a dog kennel aroudn it for a run and viola... they would be set. Only think DH could get really made at (besides something new in yard) would be moving them in garage for winter... like we did with the rabbits that no longer reside with us.
Anyone ever use the chicken saddles for a bird with plucked spots to help recuperate?

good morning again,, I lied.. I made coffee afterall.. daughter is not here yet..

I put some more turkeys out into the pen.. they are all staying under the brooder hood anyhow, so they might as well stay warm out there as in the house..

I did a really stupid thing.. I let the cry baby gosling loose with the big geese.. I watched them for awhile and then came into the house to get the turkeys.. when I went back out,, the gosling is nowhere to be found.. Annie is going to be p!$$3o'd
I might have to resort to lying about this one..

sounds like my relief sitter is here..

C U later.. >>>>>>>>>jiminwisc..........

Need a little help, peeps. I started a topic about this hen I've got, something's not right. Could ya take a look and wager a guess on what might be wrong? There's a description and pic of her doing this really weird behavior. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=510636

You guys have been hilarious lately, thanks for the laughs

Glad all that hard work had a happy ending!!

Celtic, hope you're feeling better soon.

Cindlady, wow, what a great son to bring you such a nice present!

DrH glad your friends weren't hurt in the storm and that lot's turned out to help clean up. I love country folks, always so willing to lend a hand.

Bigz, hope there's good news from the doc.

okay, that's all I can remember for now. Back to packing and that fun stuff.

Oh for heaven's sake - I think I have 2 broody Pekin ducks sharing a nest. What's the likelihood of this being successful? I peeked at the nest a couple of days ago and counted 21 eggs. The ducks have been playing around with pretending to be broody and yesterday neither of them sat on the eggs much so today I was going to empty the nest. I was toying with the idea of incubating them but I really don't want incubate anymore this year but I'd love some baby ducks.... Well, one duck was on the nest when I got out there (and has stayed on it all day) and the other one was off for a bit this morning then back in she went. I haven't seen hide nor hair of them all day. So any recommendations on what, if anything, I should do? If they're bound to fail, I'd rather empty the nest now then risk having those eggs go bad on me & stink to high heaven.... I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I agree, thanks for all the laughs folks!
Stay well.

You guys are nuts!!

Well, Damien has been doing really good. He has been telling us when he has to go potty, and we run to the potty. I've teached him to pull down his underwear, flush the toilet, wave bye bye to his peepee/poopoo (

), wipe himself, pull up his underwear, and wash his hands. I've never met a kid more excitied to wash his hands ever! I guess I'm lucky!!! Washing his hands and brushing his teeth are his favorite things to do.

I read about the cheerio thing and will do that when I choose to teach him to stand.

So, now that I got that advice, does anyone have advice on the night? Right now hes in a diaper at night, but when he wakes up now he walks like he hates that he is wet and asks to go potty immediately. Do I wake him up through the night? Do I limit his drink intake until he stays dry through the night? Whats the recommended route here?

Hunter is 5 weeks old today and almost 9lbs!

afternoon everyone,

I am happy to announce that the chicks have finally learned to leave the coop in the morning, now to get them to go in at night.
