Love the vids, TO! Awww! And Cool! LOL!
Yea! Glad yer comin' Ang!
Well the swap today wasn't much bigger than the Ladysmith one. I was told that today is graduation day for a lot of schools as well as prom. Plus w/the rain and all. BUT! I did sell some of my supplies. Of course, never as much as you wanted, but at least I didn't come back w/everything. Right?? LOL!
SO!
What'd I get???
Can't upload any pics b/c my daughter's at prom and I let her take the camera, but I'll post them tomorrow.
I got myself a trio of banty cochins. I only have 2 banty cochins, 1 white and 1 black frizzle and I just wanted a small few more in a variety of colors to go w/them. So I bought 1 blk mottled cock, 1 blk motled pullet, & 1 blue mottled pullet. I'm excited about that!
I got 3 white Show Girls, str. run, but I think if I sexed right it's a trio, but IDK what I'm doing. They'll be bred to each other as well as my kindergardeners 2 Silkies. She has 1 blk and 1 splash.
And I got 4 Marans. 2 black copper, 1 blue copper, and 1 splash. Str. run. But I think the splash is a cock and 1 of the blks, too?
I also got myself 4 Amerecauna hens, about a yr old and already laying. 1's black and the other 3 are shades of brown but 1 has a little more of a copperhead. She said they're laying green, blue, AND pink! OMG! That is exactly what I wanted!! She wanted them for $10 ea., so $40 but I never got around to getting them and when I finally got back again, thankfully no one else bought them! she said I can have them all for $25 and I whipped that money outta my pocket quicker than I've ever done! LOL!
And gues what else??? We got 2 eggs already only a couple hrs after we got home! A pink and a blue. At first I thought it was green, but now I'm not so sure. Guess I'll have to wait to see what the other eggs look like and put them together to tell the difference. But - can't take pics to show them off, cuz my daughter has the camera at prom.
And last!
But not least!
1 adult pastel calico cat & 2 gorgeous kittens. Got a little white girl w/a whisper of soft gray markings here and there, adult cat isn't the mom, and from someone else at the swap we got a ginger & white boy with the cutest little mew I've ever heard! I'm eager for them to tear down this mice population before it becomes an infestation! Our other outdoor cat disappeared about 3 mos ago and now we have a lot of mice in the garage! BOO!! One even dropped down from the rafters about 4" from my daughter and that's just too much! That ol' cat hasn't been around inmonths and I decided it was time for some new ones! I just hope they stick around the property.
morning folks,,,,damp in the north
lost my 1st bird to a coyote yesterday morning, took a break for my last cuppa around 10am, sitting on the back deck. Saw it come running trough the barn pasture and head for the woods behind the coop, chickens squawked I popped a couple rounds off and scared the bass turd, hit it when it poked out from behind the coop,,,,then again as it snuck off down a firelane....30 min later saw it licking it's wounds at the far end of the other pasture. After checking the birds found the one missing was my Blue Wheaten roo from W Meredith,,,,,of course the only Am roo I had. Must have got him on the first pass earlier, there was no commotion so I didn't even know it. Murphy's Law for sure!!
I had 16 eggs set aside here from the last few days,,,those are now under a couple broody Marans, I will keep all the blue eggs from that group for the next week or so, get them in the incubator. I hadn't hatched any of these yet, but I have sold 3 dozen of the eggs, hopefully if I fail here at getting another roo hatched one of the folks I sold eggs to will have something for me.,,,,,
soooo,,,that was the excitement of the week here, been busy working on the gardens, big project transplanting raspberries getting a patch started, so far 2-100 foot rows setup,,,maybe more next week if weather co-operates.
