Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I am still round and around. Thanks for asking big fam.

I have been trying to stay out of the way of the Chicken Bashers.

And not much to add layely

I managed to hatch 4/6 buff orps in my brinsea and my broody hen went 1/4 with 2 unfertilized.

Saturday someone gave me a couple few day old bronze turkey poults. I gave them to the broody cukoo and her 5 chicks. Any advice on that being a good or bad idea is welcome.

One of the BOs hatched with it's eyes closed and only has one kinda open now. I put it in the brooding kennel with the others and the broody hen. hours later I found the hen had burried the chick in the wood chips and it was cold lifeless and stiff with rigor mortis. Dead right? Not so fast my friends. I was out in the kennel with my DS6 catching chicks to hold, so I was holding the supposed to be dead one in my nice warm hand while the boy played with the others. Slowly I cold feel what I thought was the legs twitching and then the head moved and then CHIRP!

and in the house to turn on the brooder heater and heat it up the rest of the way, It is living under my eco glow heater yet tonight.

My son who held this dead chick is now convinced that I am a super hero blessed with the power life from laying on of my hands.

Anyone out there ever own a half blind chicken that thrived?

Wow, is anyone else as pooped out as me ??? Or is it just my old age making me feel this way??? We had a GREAT time at the bash !! Thank You so Much BIGZ and SUZIE !!!!! Would never have met all of these wonderful people if is wasn't for you guys !!! I know OM ET (old man Egg Toast aka Chuck, hubby) had a good time. Before we even got out to the highway he said "That was fun" !!!! And believe me he rarely if ever says that !!! I always have to ask if he had a good time !!!! I am bumbed that the day went by so fast. I was trying to make it to the campfire earlier but once I sit the fat Arss down it doesn't like to get up !!! I wanted to get to meet and know more of you guys !!!! Next year we ARE going to get their as early as we can Friday. Believe it or not it is the ONLY thing ET and I plan for the year !!!! Isnt that sad !!! LOL Glad my white elephant gifts were such a hit !!! Those were what I was going to bring last year !!!! So anyway, now the hunt is on for next years gifts.... I love to keep an eye out for stuff like that.... good reason to go shopping. Have an idea for next years in my head !! Glad everyone made it home safe and sound. We almost didn't. I was driving and started to knod off several times. Pulled over in a parking lot in Antigo and took a nap, then had to again in Summit Lake. And no I wasn't going to let ET drive. I don't think he took his pills in the morning that he takes to stay awake !! \And to think I answered no the the question on the sleep study if I ever knod off at the wheel !!!! Geez. Guess I should have stopped for coffee in Clintonville cause by the time I woke up at camp all the coffee was gone. Sorry I missed breakfast with you all but when you have to take ambien to sleep cause of pain you dont wake up when the rooster crows or the birds start singing !!! LOL But at least I beat Cindlady up !!!! LOL Jim those pancakes were great. Even if I didn't get much syrup (don't need it anyway) Didn't get home until who knows what time because of our road nap then had to unload all of the duckies and chickies and put them in their pens in the house again (after I cleaned them) I can tell you one thing, I won't be ordering (if I order at all) chicks, or hatching next year BEFORE the bash or the week of the bash. Way to much hassle. Sure was nice to put faces to names, now next year we'll get to know each other better !! lol I took some pictures but my card reader doesnt work on my puter. I will have to go to walmart and put them on cd then upload (hopefully that will work) Going to Wausau on Tuesday, have to be there at 1:15pm, ET got laid off again today (Crap) so making him go with so we can go buy some veggies to plant. Then hopefully can stop at Jimbo's on the way home to check out his new run. ok, that's it for now. Oh if anyone found a round black little light that isn't a flash light it is part of my tent light. I saw it on the ground when we opened up our brand new tent then just assumed (must be careful doing that) someone picked it up an put it in the van but it's not there. It snaps into the ceiling of our tent. ok, now that's it for now..... By the way who has my night stand/cat litter box/chicken nest box that was in the white elephant ? That sure was cute and a good idea !! Who made that btw? Time to see what ET is up to.....
I made and painted that nest box..thought it was a great idea..I am into reuse and repurpose.

Thanks for letting Kasha make herself at home..she must have thought it was her bed from home!
BBP, that red onion on my salad tonight was delish, thanks!

And I don't snore...Judi's does though

Now that's really awesome!!

I will never raise cornish rocks again! This is my first year (I usually do freedom rangers). They are about 4 weeks old and one is already unable to stand. They are all pullets, I thought for some reason I would be safe getting those. I hate their legs and how they lumber around. I only got them because the poultry processor won't cut up any other breed. And I don't always want to cook a whole chicken. I really wish I wouldn't have got them now. I hope the resf make it till the butcher date. I still don't know what to do with the lame one. I seriously almost left it out for the coyotes, but felt bad and put it in the coop

Thank you Bigz for being the 'host' of the Bash every year. The campground is a real gem!

Frenchie, the recipe I use for the cheesecake is here: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Strawberry-Cheesecake-2/Detail.aspx To make it GF I substituted GF graham crackers. It calls for strawberries but you can sub whatever fruit you want (this last one was raspberry.) I do think maybe my pan bottom found a new life as a frisbee. I'll be on the lookout for another thrift store one.
I was just kidding around, Amy! Sorry to worry you.

I am sure it will turn up.

Well, Michelle is still alive today - very lethargic but drinking water.

Danny Boy is pushing his luck - I've got to get the tractor set up for him tomorrow and hopefully the fences will be done SOON!

I have 2, and one of them is 11. I guess one of his eyes was damaged when he picked a fight with a few too many roos. It is still there, just kinda dark. I'm not sure how much he can see out that one, but he seems to have some vision in it. (He was in this condition when I got him).
My other one seems to have problems focusing her eyes & I assume she was hatched that way? She can't seem to focus very well on things close up, but she has no problems getting up on the roost or eating out of a bowl. If she drops something on the ground, she never finds it, but DH has been working with her to eat things out of his hand. At first, she'd make you bloody (never forget to wear gloves around that one), but she has learned in which direction to aim now & is very successful. They can be very smart when they want to be. You just need patience and lots of repetition. Good luck with her.
