Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Oooh very nice jim. I wonder what happened with the last hatch?
Jj, I should have sent you sydneys poor little babies. She gets one shes always attatched to. Always the littelest. So sad when she looses one. Those were the only two chicks weve lost... these new ones seem to be thriving. Ive made a new rule that hubby isn't too happy about. No less than 2 chicks at a time from now on!!! :)
Twizzle, I hope someone is on soon to help. I know nothing of geese. Sorry about your luck.

Jim... any ideas?

Good morning--It has taken long to read today...I have a bad headache and I need to head to Madison soon to deliver those guinea eggs to Kristi. One had an accident and got cracked so I added one of my G. eggs to the half dozen...just started getting them last week! Very late this year for sure.
I will take a pic of the two ducklings I found wandering about yesterday on separate occasions...I think they are calls! They are so tiny and look nothing like Muskovy babies,,,HMMM.
timeline ? what's that ? the cheeseheads at the bash are just together, not organized..
next year you will do better..

everybody,, send your dead chickens to JJ..
Well this is pretty true about the bash. It is too hard to have a timeline cause stuff always comes up...or people need to talk. It is more like a free-for-all...that's why we call it a bash!
Oh, and I would call the hatchery right away...
Good luck twizzle
Twiz--are you sure that they arent getting into something while they are outside? Nightshade? Some other poison? It sounds like you are doing everything right...how old are they? You got some from me last year right? Did you have that happen then too--are you doing anything different?

Going to take some pics as soon as DS is finished eating.

All my goslings are dying. We got 5 from cackle 3 weeks ago, and since friday we have lost one a day. Down to 1 now. In the morning when I come to check on them, there's always one that is laying there barely alive, and it dies within an hour. I'm not sure what's going on. predators are impossible, their cage is cleaned daily, always have non medicated chick feed and water, they are outside free ranging most of the day. They have a heat lamp.

Oh no! I sure hope you get them all sorted out before you lose the last one, too!

So what do you think? Call ducks? I wonder where they are coming from? I just find them wandering and the one I know is a female is sitting on her eggs still! THere must be another female left...maybe one of the bibbed?

Headed out to the garden! TerriO

(PS) JJ I forgot to say that the Bronze turkeys might get blackhead with them being out with the chickens so young...never know though!

IRISH and whomever else-----NUTRIDRENCH!!!! :old
You can get it really cheap at TS. Works even better than save a chick for restoring them after stress, dehydration, shock. That is the one time I can offer an experienced personal opinion on chicken care. Would never have been able to restore my rescued hens or one of my chicks without it!!!!!

Dang! I still feel wiped out! Maybe I'll lay down for a bit before I have to go towork at 3. Even if I don't fall asleep and 1/2 arse coma state can still make you feel refreshed... Maybe I'll dig around and see if I can find Napolean Dynomite. Perhaps a dull & boring movie is JUST what the doctor ordered to fall asleep quickly?! LMAO!
