HELLO CHICKI GURUS !!!!
Yep, you guessed it, another one of my silly questions coming. . Here we go. I was at FF today and was going to grab my 9 week olds one of those "chicks stick" for a busy treat but they were sold out. My big girls get a suet cake in a holder (you know the ones you buy for feeding wild birds) and they love them. Ok, the question. Would these cakes be okay for the babies to peck at? They don't appear to be all that different from those expensive sticks or am I wrong?

I'm at a loss with my garden. It's the middle of June and I haven't been able to plant anything due to the numerous late frosts and then all the rain. If it doesn't rain EVERY day, then it's every other day. The seeds won't be able to hold! The ground will just get washed away and/or they'll float in a little mud puddle in the garden. I thought of maybe planting the seeds a little deeper to compensate, but if it's TOO deep, they won't grow. GRR! I'm temted to say screw it and plant them anyawy and whatever grows, grows. But then I'm afraid of wasting all the seed and having to buy another $60-80 worth of seed again in another month. Sigh. I have given up on looking at the forecast. Does anyone know if it'll be sunny out for DAYS in a row? I actually DID have about 13 or 14 egg crates in my house already planted and was going to transplant them, but they ended up dying b/c I couldn't get them planted. All those nasty storms and strong winds and tornado like weather would've whipped those little sprouts right outta the ground and it wouldn't've done me any good! Can someone please give me some advise? Should I do a 24hr soak, start them in egg cartons again, and plant in 2 weeks regardless of if it keeps raining and just hope for the best b/c their root system has already started? Or should I just drop the seeds directly into the ground and pray to Mother Nature and tell her how lovely she looks this time of year and what a wonderful Goddess she is and see if buttering her up helps me much??

I hear ya, Psyco! That old garden clock just keeps on ticking! About half of my tomato seedlings look really healthy - now if I can just get them in!

Doc, glad I'm not the only one.     I was starting to worry. I hear ya on usually getting nort earlier in the year. Weather just wasn't having any of that this year.    Glad you finally made it & hope the fish are biting!

But just so you know, I was weeding one of the gardens when I disturbed an ant hill, and boy, they were not happy with me! So what goes around, came around................

It has been a crazy busy couple of days here. Chicks hatching, garden planting, DH had a band gig yesterday from 5 to 10pm (not including setup & breakdown) then before he leaves for band practice this morning, he discovers the basement freezer took a schmidt!    So guess what I did almost all day today?     Looks like I'll be doing lots of cooking these next few days, for us and the chickens.    And such a beautiful day too. I was hoping to weed out the southern facing garden today.     Not happening. And now I'm exhausted with eyes burning after catching up on 10 pages. I wanted to post chick pics tonight. The chocolates are adorable! And have butts as big as mommas already (even DH noticed). Hoping to sleep good. Sweet dreams, all!

Well I got peppers, tomatoes, calendula, ground cherries, tomatillos, some herbs, etc planted. Now we're at Great America riding a few rides before it rains.

bigfam Tylan is a wonder for respritory problems...just a small couple drops in a syringe and allow it to drip in the chooks mouth....don't shoot it in, cause it could get in the lungs....just alittle does wonders..maybe a second dose if the first doesn't do it. Where has H&R been? She told me about it, and it worked for my girls.

Great pics...thanks for sharing them...gotta love a good broody mom that takes care of the hatch.

Fish all cleaned...quite the bowl of fillets...3 packs of 25, and one with 53 for a bigger meal. I went to bury the fish guts today where I've been throwing the brooder cleanings...OMG...I never seen so many worms with one turn of the shovel....grabbed a pail and tossed over 100 worms in there for more fishing this week. Me and suzie are gonna actually go give er a try....fresh fish fry in the near future.

Thanks frenchie for the leads on trees. Yep, that venzun is for eating...enjoy!

I got all 25 of the tomatoes and all 18 of the peppers planted.. just beat the sprinkles.. I hope the wind dies down a bit..

I cannot get pictures to post.. all goes well until I select the picture and the bar never appears.. been like this for 4 days..

Gave Jordan 9 goose eggs.. now he needs two broody chickens..

Dora must be feeling better.. I caught her napping on the couch.. that is forbidden territory , but since she doesn't feel well, I let her be..

I found the 2 stinky eggs in bator #2.. they were my barock eggs.. little cracks in them.. S it happens..

I am going to try a picture again, and then go into lurking mode..

Congrats frenchie on that baby girl. Sounds like your excited enough for her to be your own! It is so wonderfull that those girls have such a great aunt!

Been very busy here. Our anniversary was Friday yesterday hubby rebuilt the coop ♡

I think its time for me to get a little garden in. I haven't had a garden in 6 yrs. due to health issues. with that behind me its time to drag my behind back out to my weed patch and get going. Bee Hives are out and doing awesome. had to add more boxes. They r thriving.. first timer with the bees but so far so great. I have always liked the idea of being self sufficient So this is another step and I am enjoying it so far.

Yup--here I am...I was "hiding" at work! Two shifts this weekend so I have been really tired...that and getting the rest of the garden in...I had to add some for the sweet potato slips--picking them up soon and had NO space! Had to till and put up more fence--ready for them now!
