Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

So...of course, my opinion might continue to change...but I do think it is possible that I hatched the cuckoo maran (as I mentioned earlier) but also I'm leaning toward the yellow one as the Light Sussex. It is yellow, no feathers on legs, and the wings are growing in white. The picture below is not mine, but my bird has the same coloring, except its getting white feathers on it tail now. From what I can tell BO get darker a bit, not lighter.

I hope it is a sussex. I know you really wanted one.
Morning.
Now definitely know it's the small BA that is doing the shedding/bleeding. Was able to see it empty it's ceca. In that too. Stopped the maintenance dose of corid yesterday and will be giving three days of protein and probiotics then worming as per instructions found in a post by dawg 53 to someone in a similar situation. I decided not to wait for the fecal float. Results would have taken over a week from my vet. They couldn't do it and would have to send it to the lab in Marshfield, really? This pullet is 14 weeks old and quickly approaching start of lay (if she's even going to be able to.) And I don't want to wait. If this doesn't work however, I am at a loss. My research so far has turned up no other answers. I don't have room for another non producer in my coop, if she will even survive. Can't imagine she can keep shedding/bleeding forever. So far tho she seems to be doing OK otherwise???
Any serious ideas/input at this point would be greatly appreciated.
BTW- i can supply pic of bloody/tissue (clearly) poo if needed for those who think I am overreacting, etc.

I am really so ready to not be an infirmary nurse and just enjoy healthy animals for a while, sigh.

. Well, at least the vet finally gave my puppy a clean bill of health. My very healthy (thankfully) kitty just crawled into my lap and is trying to play an my touch screen so I better get up and feed her.
Bbl.

Oh and I forgot to add. I posted pics of them on the Aussie thread and everyone is saying that the other "pullet" is a cockerel!

Happy birthday Jim and Cindy! How exciting!

Ok need my canning experts...so had grapes and boiled them whole down and mashed them and strained the rest out. Used the freezer jam receipe according to the pectin website...think it is ball brand. Canned and put some in fridge and some in freezer. Was starting to thicken when it went in last night. Looked at the ones in fridge today and still kinda fluid....what do you suggest?

You scheduled a hay unloading on a Thursday?!

Lost a Budgie today, one that we hatched out. Poor Kiwi was pretty fat, and of course since it was a budgie there are not a lot of options as far as vet care.

Cuties I was sorry to hear about your hen (I can't keep track of hens and chicks though). I apologize for not saying something earlier.

Had an interview today. I am thinking I will be offered the job but at $12 an hour...... well let's just say I made more working part time at the cheese company.

Back to the grind again tomorrow! On the upside my tomatoes are finally getting ripe! I have had some of the beautiful yellow striped toms and the Black Krim, and the Amish Paste, they all taste WONDERFUL! I wish I could grow them all year long.....

Thanks Cuties! I would say around 5, so not very old for a Budgie. She was one of the 5 that we hatched out. Of those 5 we have 2 left. She was spoiled rotten and had a wonderful life so in the end it is not too sad. She did like to eat! Probably the root of her downfall.

Job hunting sucks.... I wish I could stay at home...... my house would be a LOT cleaner and I would get all those 'little' projects out of the way.... plus I would have much more time for canning and so on..... :D  heck, my flower beds would be weeded!

Sorry about your Budgie Mel--I only ever got 5-7 years out of one here...I would like to caution you about being home...you THINK you will get a lot done...but I think when you are home you think...I have all this time to get such and such done...and before you know it it is 6pm!  There is some saying that says something like: "A chore will fill all the time allotted to it." Or kinda like that...I should look it up--it is a good one!

Yes she does...I even said that in a creepy voice when I read it! :lau

Gee, I hope Jim can see red!  That's the color there Jim!  Happy day!

I am headed out now.  Off to work, pick up veggies from CSA, grocery shop, Feed mill....the usual ya know.
Have a good one!  TErriO

(PS) Dont know what to tell ya (once again) about the Aussies Vicki...the rest are doing just fine!  I hope the other one isnt a cockerel! That would be a shame...I woauld trade it back but I dont think I have any girls left!

Hi Terri,
No worries. It happens. I just suggest that if you have a pullet out of the ones you kept that is smaller than the rest you might want to keep an eye on it till I can, hopefully , get some answers. As for the other one, I think I'm seeing spur nubs already. I know that isn't a 100% and I am clearly not a pro at sexing but the Aussie gurus say you can usually tell by 12 weeks with 90%+ accuracy and like I said they're seeing a he. If it is a roo, I have no use for one, at least not right now, so unless it turns out to be some magnificent specimen I can sell for more hens, it will probably wind up in freezer camp with its sister if I can't her fixed, unless somebody wants to come get him. So much for enough large hens in my coop to keep it warm this winter :th. The good news is May have a lead on a chance in the spring to get my hands on a couple of Hupp pullets. :thumbsup

I think that there is a recipe to redo the jelly, It is the last paragraph: http://www.kraftrecipes.com/SiteCollectionImages/brandhub/pectin/Regular-SureJell-Insert.pdf

Thanks cuties :hugs

Full set of pics are posted on the australorp thread. They listed this pm what I needed to look for to sex them, I went outside and once I knew what to look for the difference was obvious. There's still hope I have two hens, like they say, it ain't over till the fat lady sings, OR the pullet decides to crow!!! :lau

FRENCHY - I found Townline Feeds today. I got ONE bag of Nutrena Feather Fixer. Would have picked up two but he said "SOME LADY FROM CRANDON" got the other bag! I wonder who that could have been, hmmmmm????
