what do you use the comfrey for? I need to transplant some from my dad's if this snow ever goes away!
Quote: I do not want to start a huge debate.
Comfry has been used for hundreds of years for burns, ulcers. setting bones, stomach ailments, digestion, and to make poultices(sp) for sprains and swelling. It is less fiber than grasses when fed to cattle, pigs and poultry, yet rich in nutrition for the fiber.
About a hundred years ago some one said it was toxic and it fell out of favor. No controlled testing has been done on if it is toxic or not. It is listed in all herb books as: SUSPECTED CARCINOGEN
It is used in teas and salads and makes great compost for the garden.
