Cuties: I plan on removing all bedding and spraying down only because it appears there may be an issue. That article was interesting as I was trying to figure out why now that its finally dry, I started having issues. The article discussed how when mold drys it leaves behind spores to preserve until more moisture can reactivate it. Meanwhile, there are dry spores floating around as dust. Starting to wonder if that is what has been up with my horrible "allergies" this spring/summer.

The farmer's market was great! Our pizza cutter guy was there with a booth, I was sooooooo tempted to get a cutter.... picked up some plants for my naked flower beds instead.

Whatever went after the chickens at the farm, it did not do much damage to the birds it killed. They hardly looked like they were injured. Amy the Roo however was pretty beat up. He fought like the dickens! He is missing all his tail feathers, he has scratches on his back along with missing feathers, and he has puncture marks on his legs. He seems to be ok thought, he is walking around with the remaining two hens just fine. I did not notice any limping at all. I will try to get some pictures of the injuries if I can.

The kids are whining about going swimming........ I see no point in going swimming when it is not warm out. Evil mom.....

thank you for all of the advise for Fabio the rooster. He is doing well! Even danci g

fingers crossed. I did not yet see him eat. But only watched him for about two minutes today. As we have been gone si ce 6 am.
We had the dog show today. And the kids were amazing! I am a very proud trainer. Long weekend for sure.
Happy nbdaynto Meghann. And sorry about those chicks. Hope they clear up quickly. Good ideanon the acv. Ours choose to drink mostly from the dish with it added.
Good job at the fair hens and roos!

Oh! So sorry to hear about Fabio but glad to hear he's doing better!!

Sunday Afternoon.... while some of you know, both my daughter and her husband are National fire fighters...my son in law is in Washington fighting the really uncontained fire there...they earn their keep, making a mere $18 per hour and working the grueling 16 hour shifts....the trip to the med tents at the start of day, for wrapping your feet because of blister is a must... I give thanks for their help, and wish and pray for a safe trip home, just sayin!

the only pens I did with the bleach were the turkey porches.. I did remove all the litter before misting.

first I hosed everything down real good..
I use the term misting loosely,, I have an attachment for my hose that mixes the bleach as I hose things down.. the pens get good and soaked with bleach water..

I would recommend cleaning the coop first.. it is much more effective to disinfect a thinner layer than a deep bed of litter,..

Getting excited! I have 7/12 shipped bantam Cochin eggs from West Knoll Farm going into lockdown tomorrow. My goal was to get 3 hens out of this purchase. It looks possible . . . I also increased my call duckling prices from $10 to $15. They're selling just as fast. I figure when I payed $75-$100 each for my adult breeders I could ask more.

My favorite hen Angel is brooding 13 chicks right now. 3 of them are actually out of her eggs. Her chicks are cochin with 1/8 silkie and they still have a 5th toe and beard/muffs. Funny how that carries down so far.

I think I'll keep these two, no matter what sex they are:

I have been trying to sell all of the mixed breed large fowl chicks for $1.50 each, but have had no success

Bigzio, great that your kids help there. They sure need the help.

Glad that Fabio is getting better. I know it sucks to have to worry about them and not knowing exactly what caused it and how to help the most effective way.

Swap on Saturday was okay. Quite a few sellers but not many buyers. So we pretty much went home with a full car again. No like. Gonna put an ad on CL and see if I can sell some birds that way. Really need to reduce down a bit. Getting too crowded around here.

After a sleep in morning we cleaned out everything, the condos, houses and pens, he mucked out everything! I just had to drive and dump it all in the fields. Then on to all the dishes.

He started building a new house, but didn't get the clean out door or entry door figured out. So he just left the front side all open. Lol. He said he's gonna make a big fold down door to it. That won't work in the winter I'm sure. Oh well...

Trying to get our new goslings used and in with the duckies. But my gosh, the youngest are the meanest ones!!! They pick and wrestle them poor guys every chance they get! So I put them in our outside pen in the grass for the day to relax and get used to the area. Every time some of the other ducks went by, they tried their dangest to get out of the fencing and go to them. And the older guys are just afraid of them and run away. I feel so sorry for them...
How can I make the transition a bit easier on everyone??? The goslings are about 3 weeks old, same age as our Queenie duckling and her friends. The seller just took the goslings away from their mom on Friday evening, so they're not used to humans either...

Kinda worry a bit bout tomorrow with the heat cranking up so high. I will get the ducklings out of their houses and into the shaded area. Just not thrilled about leaving the little ones in a house without shade cover or AC, so it gets quite hot inside. Gonna try to fan as much cooler air inside as I can tonight and close everything up early, before the heat gets too much chance to boil the inside.

I can honestly say I worked my rear off this weekend, although there is quite a bit of my rear left. (Just won't get any smaller, what can I say?!) Everything is hurting, from the bottom of my feet up to my head (just had to bang my head on a few eaves of course). I hope that the next couple of days I can relax all my sore muscles a bit.

Hi All!

Hope all the roos recover nicely.

Today was suppose to be hatching day for Jasmine's eggs, doesn't look good

I don't know what the issue is, she's hatched probably half the birds I have so she knows how! Remember, she's the one with all the chicks in my Avi! 4 more days to see how Storky does. Glad I split the eggs and gave them some of each.
