Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

What a weather! After the nice drenching everything went right back to hot sunshine. The ducks are dozing in the shade in this weather and not even much in the mood for mudding...

The brat has left (yeay!) on Monday, still need to get rid of at least 5 drakes and need more straw (bedding). All fed, cleaned and redone. Now cooking something for the hungry man soon to be coming home from work.

The brats son somehow figured out that if he throws his weight often enough against the kennel door that it opens. So besides the whining again, we resorted to putting him, in his kennel, outside at night. That way we can at least get a few hours of sleep. Otherwise I'm not sure what I'd do to that dog...

Later a short trip to town, then hopefully be back not too late to lock everyone up and get some rest. Gosh, I really need one of them inversion tables. My back is killing me again.
Til then I'll finish cooking and maybe enjoy a few moments in the shade by some of my birdies. We shall see... Asta lluego

According to WI law, you do not need to take a CC class in order to get a CC permit. Taking Hunter Safety is sufficient. In my book, Hunter Safety is inadequate in teaching a person handgun safety and it most definitely does not cover the CC laws and regulations.

I recommend anyone looking to obtain a CC permit to take the course.

What was covered:

If you are willing to get a CC permit you better be willing to shoot another person in order to protect yourself or loved ones.
The recommended distance to begin shooting is before that individual is within 16 feet of your person.
Give ample warning before you need to shoot.
Get a laser sight for your gun: aiming no longer matters when you have a laser sight.
Practice, practice, practice, practice,....... this applies to shooting, loading, and unloading your gun.
Know the law.
You dang well better be in fear for your life before you start shooting.
Do NOT call 911 and tell them you just killed some Mo FO who was going to kill you. ;)

Personally? If I was threatened or I felt my loved ones were threatened I would have no problem eliminating the threat.

We discussed gun caliber as well. Although it only takes a hole or two to take down a person, you have to be aware that they may be higher than a kite or having a mental breakdown that will enable them to continue to come at you even though you have started shooting at them. They brought up the recent incident in Plover with the Police Officer who had to shoot the Manawa resident. Apparently the guy ran at the officer with a knife, so the Officer proceeded to shoot. The guy sustained injuries to the arm, leg, stomach and chest...... so apparently as the guy got closer the officer was able to focus his shots in to the center mass. This is why an individual needs a gun that will carry more than a bullet or two. During the actual event, your adrenaline rush is going to affect your ability to compute information and you are NOT going to be able to aim your gun in the same way you would be able to when hunting or on a shooting range. So you will miss, or you will hit your target in unexpected locations.

If you pull your gun, call the police. If you shoot someone, call 911 and ask for an ambulance and the police. Ask for a lawyer before speaking to the police. Expect to be arrested. Under no circumstances are you to fire a 'killing shot' into the perpetrator once you have fired your gun.

There was a lot of information to take in, and I almost feel that 4 hours is not enough. I highly recommend anyone interested in CC to take a course. You will learn a lot.

We were supposed to get some rain or a thunderstorm. And what did we get?!? Absolutely NOTHING! Not a single drop! Just tons of humidity and even more gnats trying to eat their way into you. Yuck.

Working outside all day long, enjoying duck and geese watching while cleaning up, switching them around and feeding the buggers.

Later on we got a visit from SO's coworker with his family. And guess what? He actually was chatting most of the afternoon away! He might actually start to be social. Wow...

Then we let the dogs run around and play a bit while letting the geese get to know each other in the pool. Guess those poor guys have never seen a pond OR pool. They still have no clue and are scared to go in it. Even with the help of duckies and our baby geese. I guess they will figure it out in time.

Then I bathed in hot pizza (literally!) and am now relaxing a bit on the couch, enjoying the rest of the evening. Hope everyone here had a nice day though!
