Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Love catching up here! Will try some veggie spray on the 2 with the scaley legs...on a side note...I noticed a runny poop or two in the coop today...could this be heat related or should I be concerned? Had a slight drop in eggs when it got really hot 3 weeks ago but otherwise just one of the scaley leg hens looks rough. Gave lots of fresh water today... your thoughts?

getting some first cucs from the garden and first tomatoes! YUM and we have a CSA to boot... which is good because my garden is super weedy and only getting half what I normally should. Next year will be better!! On a side note the bees look good and healthy and getting ready to add another box to them.
The heat will cause diarrhea in your birds, Kristi, and a slight drop in egg production. Keeping them well hydrated with vitamins/electros in their water is one way you can help them cope. Unless of course you are Bigfam and can weasel your hubs into installing A/C in the coop.

Hi All!

I think my older chickens are spoiled on the mash and the goodies they get. The little ones have been scavenging more of the yard than the older ones.

Nothing new.... Night All!

Are you serious? Someone has an A/C in their coop? How does that work. Glad to hear about that heat thing. I have one bird that had diarrhea for about a day, she seems better now, that was back when it was so hot those couple of days. They sure went thru the water then.

Hi my polish and silky hens aren't laying any eggs and they are about 5 months old what's going on?

There are many reasons as to what it could be. Some breeds take longer to mature than others. It might be that it has been too hot. You might have too many roosters for the number of hens. They might be hiding their eggs & you just haven't found their nest. If they were scared recently, that can cause a stop in egg production. If you do not have extra calcium available or if they are not eating it, they might be laying soft shelled eggs & then eating them. The list goes on & on.

I have 2 roosters with 4 hens and they're coop has no hiding spots and recently here in northern WI it has been chili

Well, you definitely have too many roosters. You only need one roo per 10-12 hens. Any more and the girls will have no peace.

Well I'm not getting rid of any Roos so I guess I'm not going to have any eggs:(

Please tell me I am wrong ... Second year in a row that my Olive eggers look like this... 14 weeks
