Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi guys! I've been keeping up. Things are always so crazy around here :)
Getting cold out. Not looking forward to winter at all!
Hope you are all prepared for Halloween :)

Fish Fry Friday to all....nice to see you stop by cuties....I remember when I had to handle the family of young ones as well as a full time job with tons of overtime...the rewards will be there for you in the future, with all the hard work now while your young and spry.

Been raking the dreaded leaves...not even close to notice a substantial difference. I should just allow the leaves to kill the grass...that's a thought?

Tonight it's stuffed scallops and butterfly shrimp with baked potatoes and fresh ho-made coleslaw from our garden carrots and cabbage.

Have fun...bigz

The hubs takes the lawnmower through the leaves to grind them up finely so they turn into lawn food rather than lawn killers.

Hi All!

Yep, we just mow over the leaves a few times too. Too much yard and too many trees and not enough time to try to rake.

I made potato leek soup for Sat. supper. I think it has too much thyme.

Night All.

The old house (in Milwaukee 'burbs) finally sold, so yesterday I had movers haul the rest of my furniture up here to Sauk County. Now my house is a jam-packed solid sea of furniture.

Gotta spend the weekend arranging things and figuring out what else to sell or donate. Looking forward to having everything settled under one roof.

Have a question....One of my original girls that we got from the neighbor called it a Red sex link......so for the past week, we have noticed that she is getting more and more white feathers. I am not talking just a few....when we first got her she did not have any white except a couple on her tail....now, on one side, she has a LOT of white......what is going on....btw, she is acting normal.

Rainy Day for the trick or treaters today....Happy Halloween to everyone!

Hard to say firstchic, if it is really a red sex link or a farm mix.....colors can vary and it really doesn't matter about the white feathers...could be a hybrid farm mix....should still be a good layer.

The Royals blew the game yesterday...hope they can snag another win tonight...World Series baseball is as good as apple pie!

I've tried the mow the leaves here....even shredded their is enough to kill the grass....I rake the worst parts and mow the rest....I have pick-up loads of maple leaves that go on the gardens where they should go for better crops next year. My chickens fertilize the lawn enough the way it is....

Anyone in central Wisconsin sell welsummer pullets or blue or black copper marans pullets? I'm hoping to buy private party but would do a hatchery if i can't find any

Whew! Just finished up canning my kraut! I packed 45# of cabbage into my giant crock about 7 weeks ago and finally had the time to get it processed. Good thing I have a household of Germans! Total count: 27 quarts! No broken jars this time either since I used my antique canning jars. The last time I made kraut I bought a case of new canning jars and half of them broke off at the bottom of the jar.

The kittens went to the vet for shots yesterday. We lost one so there are only two now. Super cute too! The kids are trying to pick out names, and they are both girls. What the heck am I going to do with 5 female cats?????? :) I'll try to get some pictures at some point, like when they are sleeping!

Lol! Sleeping is about the only time you will get a non-blurry pic of kittens. I am glad you are keeping them. BTW, we have 5 female cats. With winter coming, they will keep you warm.
