Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Painted this yesterday for a benefit auction for AA Processing's silent auction. They are a poultry processing place that got hit really hard this year by weather, first a wind storm wrecked all of there hoop coops and after a flood killed over 2500 of there meat bird growouts(I think that made it on tv).I made a frame for it but was a bit too small so will make another one today.

I have one of those heated waterers, they are a pita and the plug likes to come out once and a while. I prefer the blue heated animal dishes.

Good to know thanks! I was kind of thinking on going that route anyways. Your painting is absolutely awesome too. Those could easily make you some serious extra cash(if they don't already)

Hello all!

Sorry I've been MIA, lots of things going on here. Cind, could you look at a resale shop (Goodwill or similar) for a new mallet?

Stac, the house looks great!

Today, I found a hidden clutch of TWENTY EGGS... our production in the nest boxes has been about 8/day, down from 10/day- so my guess is that these eggs had been there for about 10 days. They were under our laying box, in the shade the whole time. Can they still be eaten? Should I do the float test on them? Of course I wouldn't sell them or give them away but could they be consumed/used for baking?

For personal use I definitely wouldn't pitch them. You can crack em smell em or whatever you feel necessary and use at your. discrepancy. They're probably fine

Afternoon all...Sorry for no heads up on the Chicken Dinner....my fault for that.

Yep Dusty, I would crack them in a separate bowl to check them out....they should be good if only ten days for personal use.

Quite the talent Stacy...Suzie won't even allow me touch a paint brush because of my sloppy talent.

Off to the woods for some hunting.

If you are pretty sure they are only about 10 days old they are OK to use..
Float them,, crack them, smell them,, if in doubt, cook them up for the pets..
My philosophy is, if I have fresh eggs, whey eat anything old ?
It has been cool out , so the eggs were as good as if they were in your fridge ..

we went from getting no eggs, to having 3 dozen in the fridge now.. Annie had some purchased eggs , so she hard boiled them,, can we say "egg salad sandwiches" ? boys and girls ..

Just froze 20 quarts of Brussel sprouts. Not did they do good this year. I always tell myself my garden will be smaller next year...yeah right. Good luck hunting z. Time to have a bonfire

Thanks everyone!

Good luck on the hunting bigz!

Jim, I always sell the freshest ones. Hubby and I both work in Milwaukee and have eager buyers at our places of employment so it's definitely worth that for us. Hubby just cooked up some of the "questionables" as hard-boiled and said they are "darn fine". So we'll go with that!

We never got the chickens with the thought of selling eggs, but we definitely have a surplus and to sell them nets us zero on feed cost :)

Hope you are all having a wonderful (and productive) weekend!

I'm back from hunting and have a nice antlerless one hanging in the pole barn. I was lucky and made a perfect heart shot. Thanks for the good luck's sent my way....it paid off with a great harvest. I'll be skinning and cutting tomorrow before the pack plays the Lions. Time for a long neck or two.
