Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good morning,

slept in until 8 this morning. that felt good for a change.

last night I finally broke down and tried a pain pill for my hip.
It seemed to work. I don't like doing that, but it was more than I could handle..

Mel, If you bake me a cake even half as pretty as those, I will make coffee for you anytime..

Sonja, I had plans for making short tunnels out of pvc.
I also had some instructions on how to make simple clamps out of wood to hold the poly to the tubing..

I will look around and see if I can find those plans.

are your raised beds surrounded with lumber frames ?

I have an idea how you can make multiple bends come out the same with the metal tubing.

Do you know any sheet metal guys who have a round pipe shaper ? usually those shapers have a groove at the side for shaping tubing. .

Why do you think bottle fed kittens usually turn out to be jerks? I only ask because we have raised many and I've only ever hand one turn out to be somewhat of a jerk and even she's not really a jerk.
Three of our 4 bottle babies play fetch(though like anything cat on their terms) and all are good at only scratching what they've been taught to scratch.

:)

Every cat I've seen that's lost its mother and been raised on the bottle is just not right in the head. The vet even said she can tell when a cat was bottle raised. They tend to be naughty, biting and stuff during exams.

I have been tossing around the idea of building a greenhouse for years. Finally have the place but not the time - maybe next year.
Here is a link to Mother Earth News for a DIY Pipe bender plan... it also contains a link to another style if you prefer something a touch more intricate.

It looks fairly easy to build.

there ya go Sonja, , and the guy who built the bender is Tom Hynes from WAUSAU .. maybe you can contact him and borrow the bender.
his is sort of what I had in mind, only his is more refined than my idea..

I would have fastened blocks to a sheet of plywood at equal intervals along the diameter I wanted to make.

Wow that's so crazy! I have in my research on the subject found some theories that a kitten loses a lot of what it's taught when it isn't raised by the mother or with siblings. Obviously but what I mean is manners and such. Perhaps that's the difference?

We have worked with all of our bottle babies teaching them manners and such. My goodness I'd be ashamed if my kitty went to the vet and was biting and such.

You need to come meet my bottle kitties lol I think it would be good for you to see another perspective. :)

Now I find I'm very proud of my kitties they'd never think to do that. They don't get on cupboards or tables. They don't steal food(although our one year old is still learning rules but getting better all the time) I wouldn't hesitate leaving steak or anything in front of them to run and grab something else. They don't potty outside of the litter box. They don't chew cords or anything. They come when called and all want snuggles most of the time. A couple of them even know a few other basic commands(not sit but useful things, that's not yours, wait your turn etc)

Packer Sunday Welcome to all! Nice cake bl4..I always make good coffee. I prefer to pick my shell beans and then dry them in flats in the sun when possible, or otherwise in the barn. Picking and hanging plants has been done here, but it's easier to just rid the plants and work with the harvest of beans In their pods....we eat a lot of bean soup here, and never have to buy soup beans......they are much better than store bought tough beans that take forever to bring back to life.

Suzie did stuffed cabbage today....well worth the effort all Winter long.

I spent the entire day moving cages, cleaning cages, cleaning feeders, etc. Good day to be working with water outside. The bunnies have had their fall cleaning as have the chickens. All of the chickens have been migrated to the barn coop except for the seven that are going to freezer camp. There will be 21 adults and seven babies left after the butchering. I'll be boarding some white midget turkeys and one goose for the winter and they're coming next weekend so I have to finish cleaning the milk house coop for them and figure out a run for them back in the barn yard.

NOT watching the debate tonight. I'm so disgusted with both candidates and their parties. I wish the elections were already over. There are a lot of good shows on Netflix.

We still have pumpkins, gourds, cherry tomatoes, currant tomatoes, squash and beans to pick in the garden. Also a couple of rows of potatoes to dig. Everything else is done. With the exception of the larger tomatoes and peppers we had a good garden this year. The freezer is full.

Spent yesterday driving the "farm art DTour" of Reedsburg fermentation fest. I was not particularly impressed with the "art", but it was a beautiful drive--especially the part where I missed a turn and got lost.

Best part of the day: found a "frog ID" tape in the free bin at a yard sale. Spent the rest of the drive listening to hilarious descriptions ("like a fingernail on a high-quality fine-tooth comb") and froggy song recordings. And singing "hello ma baby, hello ma honey, hello ma ragtime gal; send me a kiss by wire . . ."
