Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good morning,

DH gets an "atta boy" from me.

I don't mind cutting up deer either.

I knew a guy who grew Shitaki mushrooms. He had to give it up after he got hit by a car. he was holding the stop/caution sign on road construction.
He is the guinea ladie's son. you might have heard me mention her a few times on here.
He and his friend built a large building and were selling mushrooms to restaurants and wherever..

I bought a box of compost that was inoculated with button mushrooms once. we had lots and lots of mushrooms from that venture..

I am not going bowling today. it is supposed to be cool and sunny. I think I would be better served to finish my roof. not many days like this left before the s*** falls.

Congratulations on the deer Deathen!
I am still hoping to see a picture of the finished roof Jim.

DH took the day off from work. Loads of stuff to get done around here. One of them to get the garage cleared out of the summer accumulation of stuff so he can park his vehicle inside and not have to scrap the windshield in the mornings.

believe me, nobody is looking forward to pictures of the finished roof more than I ..
In the olden days, this would have been a two day job for me. maybe three..
I built the chase in a couple of hours. long ago.

I should be thinking about cleaning my garage, too.
but, first things first..

My hubby and his latest. As you can see, we need to clean our garage as well. This is how it looks after he does a short project. It was clean beforehand. I really don't mind butchering either, but I end up doing 6-8 every year between him and I and a couple of friends. Then I get to package and can it. By the end of season I HATE deer. I do all the skinning, quartering, and deboning. My MIL helps me with taking any of the nasty stuff off and cutting it up to go in jars then I do the canning. Sure tastes good though.

I love growing the mushrooms. We inoculate every 2 or 3 years and I pick daily when they start to fruit.

Dinner tonight is tenderloin, heart, fried potatoes, chicken of the woods and hen of the woods. YUM

good afternoon,
i am destined to not finish that roof.
I was just getting into it and Annie hollers up to me that somebody spotted both of our dogs over a mile away as the crow flies.

so off I go whisteling all over the countryside with no response.
I stopped to talk to a neighbor and asked him if they came past his house. Nope. so we talked a bit and then Annie called me and said that the dogs were home.

Met an Asplund tree trimming truck on the way home.
stopped and asked if they were looking for a place to dump the chips. he said he should have a load yet today.

during supper, I think I heard a truck come and leave

anyhow, somebody is getting tied up tonight. I think I will tie Frankie, then Zeke will stay with her. if that doesn't work, I will tie up Zeke

Nice deer, looks like a young one.
How do these DH's get you women to clean fish and butcher deer ? I must have been raised wrong.,

Thanks Cory. Yes, Jim it seems fairly young but it was a big one. LONG. Got some really nice back straps out of him and was his skin ever tough. I am the only one in the house that knows how to fillet a fish so that is why I do it. I butcher the deer because he leaves WWAAAAYYYY too much hair on it and I don't like to waste any of the meat. I guess I am picky and it backfires on me. LOL

do you have a pressure washer ?
it cleans up a carcass really nice.
I had a friend who was a butcher, he claimed that you should never wash meat.
obviously, we didn't agree

It looks like tomorrow will be dry, at least until late in the day.. maybe i can get some pictures.

I tied Zeke up tonight. He saw the leash and ran to Annie for protection.. wrong.. she is the one who insisted that i tie the dogs up. LOL.

both dogs are good when tied up. I think I could use a strand of yarn instead of a chain. same with leading them on a leash.

I did some utubing , found out that coffee grounds are a good source of nitrogen for tomatoes and grapes.

probably for lots of other plants, too. great addition for a compost pile..
